The artwork would have to really wow me. I'd rather they just release the new 4K versions on a standard blu ray with a new slip.
Right? It's the John Carpenter font... which works well when they first started putting out his films in steelbooks. Maybe it's a minor gripe but get it off the rest of the releases.
Yeah, they use the John Carpenter font since the first steelbooks they did were The Fog, They Live and Escape from New York. They just continued using it as their standardized "steelbook" font since.

I'd prefer the steelbooks with the films' logo or title font instead of the Carpenter font (I saw someone do a mock-up doing just that, and they looked pretty good), but at the end of the day, it's not a dealbreaker to me. Personally, I didn't usually mess with the SF steelbooks unless they've got something else to offer, like a new transfer or more extras.

I won't lie, I do want Mommie Dearest on Blu. That said, I'm not expecting their release to be barebones, so I'm sure there will be some incentive for those to get it. Personally, I'll be happy to be able to finally unload my Universal copy of Halloween II.

I just want my one copy...that is all.
It is limited to 13,000 copies, so I'm sure you'll have a few people buying more than one copy.

Not everyone had the tin set. One of my good friends got into Blu-Ray collecting a number of years later and missed out as a result. Same with the Halloween set, too.

Plus, the tin set did have plenty of room for improvement.

I wasn't expecting EVERY MGM title to go OOP (there's no chance in hell that SF wouldn't do everything they possibly could to keep Escape From New York or The Fog in print, for example), but I do expect the ones they keep around to be the bigger sellers, which are more likely to get the steelbook treatment. I dig the hell out of both Motel Hell and Pumpkinhead, so I'm glad that they're getting better transfers.

And I agree, The Burning can use some love.

Agreed for both. Cat People definitely needs a new scan. I'd also say Darkman can use some love as well.

Dog Soldiers actually has a UHD available in Germany, too.

No word yet. I'm positive that they'd WANT to do one (I mean they've done box sets for both Halloween and Friday the 13th; Elm Street seems like a no brainer at this point), but it'll depend on whether they can manage to get the license.

if u go to the preorder page for the friday the 13th set on scream, they took the limited number off for how many sets were being produced and instead just called it a deluxe edition now This coupled with printing 3x or more lithographs just screams shout is being greedy

FFS let them be greedy then, at least people won't have to miss out because they made the number too low.

but i am sick of the entitlement culture, where people think just cause they want it they deserve to be able to order one and if its limited and sold out, they should print more, since they missed out. That is what it is feeling like with a lot of companies lately.

I mean... duh?

They have to spend money to get these titles in the first place, and they're producing the set. They'll clearly make more money selling more than 1,313 lithographs and potentially selling more than 13,000 copies of the Blu-Ray set.

For all we know, maybe WB will see how well the Friday set is doing hours after being up for pre-order and decide to let Scream do a similar set to the Elm Street films.

So, is the new Friday the 13th set worth the investment if you have the previous tin release?

It was a surprise announcement and sold out like thirty minutes after it went live? There are plenty of hardcore fans who missed out by virtue of just not being at the computer the second it went live.

Also having more lithographs discourages the scalpers from buying them and reselling them at the expense of actual fans.

I placed an order when it was limited on shouts site, so now I am debating about just keeping the amazon.ca order instead and save $40 and say screw the posters

What is it to you? Why does it need to be limited? So you can retain some kind of value from it? That's more greedy than supplying enough copies to fulfill the demand.

If Shout is increasing/omitting the limited availability then smart move on their part. More fans get the set and they make more money from it. Absolutely no down sides except to the clowns wanting to flip the set once they're sold out.

So, this deluxe set will be sold elsewhere, only difference being the Shout Factory site offering the poster and lithograph? No other differences?

That’s good. I don’t really need the poster or lithograph, and if that makes it a bit cheaper then even better.

I guess Amazon is the best bet to order it from, price wise?

Seriously? Don't buy it then. We don't care if they print 1,000000 copies of this. We're just happy to own it. Be gone scalper.

Finally got my order confirmation email.

I guess some people buy movies based on rarity and collectability so they can say they have it sitting on their shelf. I must be one of those weirdos who only buys movies I actually enjoy and watch.

I think it was determined that in the states, TCM Shop is the cheapest with their 10% off coupon, but Best Buy and Amazon US haven't started taking orders for it yet.

TCM probably will be the cheapest with the new customer discount. I expect Amazon to have it at $130 by release date.

Unless something stupid happens and they price match it with the Paramount 8-movie Blu-ray.
