Yup even a 2K or 4K restoration would be awesome too even interviews with William Ragsdale and the remaining cast and people who worked on the film even retrospective and behind the scenes on how they did the effects would be cool.

I hope Shout or Kino Lorber whom have a Studio Canal deal should contact that company since someone said Studio Canal has Fright Night 2 rights.

I'd love to see a deal on Idle Hands myself. But seeing as that was one of the last titles to release before the pandemic delays started happening, not many retailers seem to have it - or have enough copies to warrant discounting it... Maybe it'll be one of the SDCC sale titles though

Speaking of slipcovers, what is up Scream Factory's? The last several SF's CEs that I've ordered had slipcovers with a small vertical crease on the middle front or back and sometimes both sides as well sometimes on the spines. I few came from Amazon. But most have come directly from SF, so I think it's an issue with their quality control. I emailed them months ago with no response.

Even DiabolikDVD has a disclaimer to some SF titles, i.e. no guarantee of mint condition slipcovers (such as Evil of Frankenstein) and some other labels as well. Anyone else notice this?

Yes, I’ve noticed it as well. Pretty sure the issue is caused by the thin, cardboard slip covers being shrink wrapped. The shrink wrap and packaging causes pressure on the cardboard, and creates creases.

I can understand why they would shrinkwrap the slipcovers, but what i don't understand is why they double shrink wrap their blu rays. Once you remove the shrinkwrap on the slip, the blu ray case has another one. What is the point?

I hadn't realized how much work had gone into getting the unrated cut of From Beyond on the disc! Fantastic! The extra scenes add so much. I really couldn't even tell it was from lower quality elements. They really knocked that release out of the ballpark, such a cool movie too.

It's just a part of the manufacturing process. All Blu Rays must be shrinkwrapped regardless of whether they have slips or not. Most studios do not shrink wrap the slips as those would normally just be added after the Blu has been wrapped. Given the amount of desire Scream's slips have however, and the pain in the ass I'm sure it is to ensure people get them when buying from other retailers within the first 3 months, It's easier to set up the assembly process from the beginning so that all Blu's are shrinkwrapped and then once the slip has been added, they are shrinkwrapped a second time.

Essentially, rather than have to re-tool the entire process after the 3 month window has expired they simply stop producing new slips at that point but can keep the existing process in place.

It's weird because they didn't always used to do that. Even before when they first started shrink wrapping the slips, there didn't use to be a second shrinkwrap in the case.

I remember when the change happened as far as shrink wrapping the slip to the case but I can't recall them not wrapping the underlying Blu. I only ever remember the double wrap. That said, It wouldn't surprise me if the process changed when the production facility moved from the US to Mexico.

Is there supposed to be SF sale sometime this week? Don't remember what thread was it, but someone mentioned there was one planned.

Well I wish Scream Factory would stop shrink-wrapping the slipcovers if that's what's causing the creases and other damage.

I'd love to see them license Just Before Dawn. I heard Code Red's release has some issues, and even ignoring that, I'd love to see the bonus material Shout could create with it.

Long ago SF used to only shrink wrap the slipcovers not the case themselves. I remember because I recieved my Bordello of Blood and Demon Knight blu blu Ray's that way(as well as a few other releases around that time). Then shortly after that they stopped shrink wrapping slips at all. And then again they switched back to shrink wrapping the slips, only now they also shrink wrap the case underneath as well.

During the initial days of the line they shrink wrapped the blu ray and slipped the slip over the top. Places like Barnes and Noble (and possibly wal-mart if my memory serves me correctly) kept throwing out the slips however and that was when the began shrink wrapping the slips. I can't clearly remember but what you said about the Tales films does sound somewhat familiar but I feel like that was a strange one off occasion for that particular group of films where they only did that single shrink wrap layer. I'm sure it was brought up in this thread if we dug deep enough.

Ill never forget when I went to Barnes & Noble to see if they had Shin Godzilla on BD since Best buy didnt have it on release date (I didnt buy though since B&N charge fill MSRP for BDs). While I was looking for it the employee was taking slips off new releases & tossing them

I will never understand why stores have no problem throwing away slips, but at the same time refuse to let you take a slip from a movie. Dumbest thing ever.

For the life of me I can't understand why a store would do that. If it was significantly damaged maybe I'd understand but to just toss all of them without reason is bizarre.

On a followup note to my and Worship's earlier chatter about shrink wrapping of slips, I went back to October 2015 in this thread in the hope of finding some mention of things but turned up with nothing on the subject. What I did find however was some really fun talk about Paramount, Warner, and wish list titles. There are more than a few posts that speculate titles from Paramount that Shout could be releasing in 2016 and though it took a few more years than originally thought nearly all the titles in question have now been released. It certainly leads one to believe that Shout at one time (if not now) had their eyes on the forum as far as what people were wanting. Even with the complaints about double dips it made for some fun reading.

I remember in the early years when Wal-Mart Canada used to carry SF, they'd put the price tag directly on the slip cover! essentially destroying it since whatever adhesive was on that tag would rip the cover if you attempted to take it off, nothing worked to remove it properly not goo gone etc....
