I just wish they'd scoop up Curse Of Frankenstein already. It's crazy how we've got all the Quatermass movies, as well as all the Dracula and Mummy movies, and the one that really got the ball rolling is still only available as a B locked import. Maybe next October...

Thanks. There's one movie, "Jack Be Nimble" that I don't know how doesn't even have a proper dvd release. I am certain a lot of SF collectors would like it.

"Jack Be Nimble" is a terrific horror-thriller, one of the most underappreciated ones from the 1990's. As far as "proper" DVD releases, it did get a DVD release in the US from Image, but it was full-frame and had some minor audio issues that the VHS didn't have.

It definitely deserves a MORE proper DVD release. It's really quite a unique and affecting character-driven horror film from down under. It's pretty great, actually.

I hope SF will release Forbidden Planet sometime. The last release of this film was almost 10 years ago.

I thought for sure we would get this one by October or at least as a Comic Con announcement, but now the October titles have been announced and we're not getting any new announcements at Comic-Con, I guess it'll be a while before it gets released.

I was also surprised that Brides of Dracula wasn't announced for October, seeing as how they've been releasing new editions of the titles in the Universal Hammer collection, and it seems like it would be the next one they'd release.

Bad Dreams is with Foxney. No chance of a re-release now - may as well hunt down a copy of that Shout double feature. And, yes, those films deserved their own release. I have the 88 Films BD which is very nice.

My hunch is that we'll see both films released in January and/or February. Friday the 13th has clearly been their primary focus for a while now given the amount of content they're trying to put into it. Then when you add in the struggles with getting interviews and putting together content I would imagine several planned projects have had to be delayed out farther than initially planned as well. Considering the age of the folks involved with these Hammer titles that may still be around, completing in person interviews may prove challenging if they are particularly fearful about certain contagions at the moment also.

Those items aside, Hammer titles do not make for good September/October announcements for many folks as it's simply not the kind of film people are wanting during that 2 month time frame of the year. Whether you personally (and I say this to everyone reading, not you personally Ken as I know there are a few people that will object to what I am about to say) like Hammer films and are excited for them or not is irrelevant as if the announced Friday set has taught us anything, it's that CLEARLY the masses get most excited about big name 80's franchises and films in general from the 80's which is what the months of September and October should focus in on as much as possible when making announcements. Had we gotten those two titles in place of the Friday set we'd have thousands fewer comments right now on the board and much more complaining/pessimism overall than where things stand. I'd argue that by not announcing the titles for September/October they actually did them a favor as 1) they don't have to compete with the other heavy hitters and 2) The response to when they are announced will likely be much better during the months of November - March than it would be between August and October.

I've got a notable Jennifer Rubin collection on Blu-ray...

Bad Dreams
The Crush
Screamers
A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors
Miami Vice ("Leap of Faith" from Season Five)

I still need to buy The Doors, especially now that there's a 4K.

There's a scene in The Crush where Alicia Silverstone's character tries to kill Jennifer Rubin's character by using a hornet's nest. That's not a pleasant way to treat someone.

I have four or five posters from SF and one from Severin but have never put them up. For these F13th ones though I've already got the two spots on my walls picked out and gonna buy some cheap frames.

The known extras I'm most excited about are the new commentary track for V and the old one from III. I've never heard it as Paramount didn't include it on the disc in the ultimate DVD set that came with a mask years ago.

Hopefully we'll get some previouslycut footage of extended interviews with Dukey Flyswatter as well.

My ranking from favorite to least:

Part V: A New Beginning
Part II
Part III
Friday the 13th (1980)
The Final Chapter
Part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan
Jason X
Freddy vs Jason
2009 Remake
Part VII: The New Blood
Part VI: Jason Lives
Jason Goes to Hell

Actually I love Parts 5 and 2 equally. The more I watch 2 the more and more and more I like it.

I think all of this is valid. For me, personally, nothing says Halloween time like Brides Of Dracula, but I get that's not the way of things for many other people. Focusing on Friday The 13th makes total sense as it's a no-brainer and is sure to do well for them because it's such a representative property for a lot people. I don't like the series much at all and even I'm still considering picking it up as it's a hole in what I think of as my pretty well-rounded horror collection. I don't think anybody would argue that this isn't going to be a big money-maker for them so the focus on such a mammoth undertaking makes sense. And, of course, you know if there is even a tiny glitch in this set, the current SF love and goodwill will instantly go away and you'll be able to hear the screams of nerd rage and shirt-rending even in isolation.

Indeed! I feel it has merit to be considered in the same vein as some more of the prestige horror pics even though it has a few exploitation movie-esque story points. Same as 'Eyes of Fire' that was discussed a few pages back. SF doesn't release a lot of these type of flicks.

As much as I like the F13 movies(I just paid for the set), it's hard for me to make a case that they are "good" movies, but some could be considered great slasher movies.

I completely agree. Now that the Friday the 13th set has been announced, it makes perfect sense as to why all of those already announced titles have been delayed. In a normal year, they wouldn't have had to delay many, if any, titles and could have still managed to complete the Friday the 13th collection on time, but since this isn't a normal year, the focus has obviously and understandably been put on making sure Friday the 13th meets its release date. And don't get me wrong, I'm definitely looking forward to the new Friday the 13th collection. It would have been disappointing had it not been announced.

As far as Hammer titles go, I do think these are in the works, but I imagine they're not as far along as I had hoped. Curse of Frankenstein and Brides of Dracula would be two of the bigger Hammer announcements, though.
