Weren't the Ring films just released by Arrow?
I'm more or less in agreement with you but I feel like if special features are a problem right now that there are still very viable alternatives to keep content flowing if Shout (or others) wanted to do so. Some ideas may or may not pan out but I think there is still enough stuff that could use even a barebones release that we really shouldn't ever see a month with nothing to offer. Time will tell how that pans out though.

To be honest the French extreme stuff doesn't fit with Shout at all, but it is an idea I wanted to mention. There are other studios that would be a better match by my estimation.

As for The Ring films... Arrow released the Japanese originals. The US version of Ring 2 is still without a US release and last I heard the first film was now only available as a BD-R. This certainly makes the idea of a $39.95 Shout Factory Box set an appealing release as they could re-press the original, dump some EPK stuff on it... include the junk from the DVD bonus disc back in the day that's out of print, reissue the current disc of Rings with or without new bonus content, and then could simply focus all efforts on Ring 2 with a few features, a trailer, a commentary etc and still have an attractive release as it would be the only way in America to get the film. Shout also has relationships with all studios involved and so if a trilogy set was possible, they are certainly in a position to release it.

Since they've been releasing the Dark Castle titles, we could see Gothika or House of Wax get announced.

You and I both, man. I've been looking for this for a long time. Even what little was release in Europe isn't very good. It's a damn shame.

I'm actually surprised this didn't come out in October, but I think November is a safe bet.

My big question is if the Dead Zone is getting a release this year or the next.

I'd venture a guess the shooting format of the film is part of the reason why no companies have considered a North American Blu-Ray release, thus far. Ils was, if I'm not mistaken, shot with a Mini DV camcorder in a native 1080/50i resolution, which is great for the EU and UK, but problematic for the US and Canada. If you have a player and display that can handle 1080/50i content, your best bet would probably be to import the UK release. If not, I suspect you're going to be stuck the the Dark Sky DVD for some time to come.

Either way, that's better than nothing, and hopefully the Dead Zone is one of them.
I'm thinking they might want to hold off The Dead Zone for now since Paramount's The Stephen King Collection is already slated for a September release. But I hope I'm wrong.

I mean if they announce it this month, how many people are going to pass on the 5 film collection and go for the special Scream Factory edition instead?
I'm one of those people, as that's the only film that interests me in that collection.

I learned this the hard way when I picked up the German Tyrannosaur mediabook. It wouldn't play on anything except my XBone. The Panny ZT60 didn't have any issue with it, though.

It sounds like a feasible reason for the lack of French Extreme on Blu-ray in the US. I still wish decent releases were available elsewhere, though.

My order from DiabolikDVD with 'The Tenant' and others is taking longer than I thought it would. Their policy is they ship in one big package what you pre-order along with any other item you order.

I made the order two weeks ago and 'The Tenant' was released last week. Anybody else have to wait awhile with them?

As far as I'm concerned (not like they're going to do this), they're clear to take November and December off after delivering such a heavy hitter as the Friday set. Scream has done such a fantastic job this year with some of the titles they've been able to aquire.

Honestly, I think it would be cool if they put they're focus of November this year into a big black friday sale. It's been a while since they've had an actual great sale. I would love to catch up on some past titles for a great price.

I've always seen the double features as value for money. Some even have a fair few extras for the films too. I know most collector's prefer individual cases for each movie, but if it's a choice between not getting a release or a double feature, then I'll take the double feature every time.

I'm passing on the 5 film collection and waiting on an individual release of The Dead Zone, but not because the other films don't interest me, but because I already have individual and better releases of the other titles than what I expect Paramount to include. I already have a copy of The Stand, the two Pet Sematary movies on 4K UHD, and the Scream Factory Collector's Edition of Silver Bullet. I imagine that their version of Silver Bullet may be bare-bones.

Since Paramount is burying The Dead Zone in a multipack I assume that means they don't care about the film, didn't see fit to release a CE of it themselves and thus wouldn't care about a third party release of the film one-upping their own so I think chances are good that we'll see that Shout CE this year.

Hope so. We know it's coming from Scream Factory, but it's just a matter of when. Hoping they announce it next week so those that are on the fence on the 5-pack will just buy this outright.

Cool Haul. If you ordered direct from Shout....I sincerely hope that you receive your items, before the F13 box set arrives. Shout have been slow as shit lately.
