Wow, crazy to see these titles go OOP. Texas Chainsaw Part 2 was one of the releases that really surged my collecting craze. Seems like just yesterday when that was announced

I was reading the Facebook comments on Scream's announcement and one user said that Universal actually offered Scream both 2 & 3 but they declined (whyyyyyyyyyyyyy?!). Later on, those films became unavailable to Scream when the franchise became active again. If that's true, there might be a chance for them if the 2019 film doesn't get further expansions.

This is true... but it was back in 2014/2015 when they hadn't released but a drop in the bucket of their current offerings so that's why they passed to focus on other titles.

As for the future... there's a new tv show coming in winter 2021, MGM has been toying with the idea of a sequel to the reboot, and Mancini has already stated that he plans to release another film once the tv show is out. This franchise isn't cooling off anytime soon.

That all said, I still believe that Shout Factory will eventually release collectors editions of parts 2 & 3 or possibly a full franchise box set... it just won't be for several years in all likelihood.

What surprises me most is them not renewing the license for Escape From New York. Especially since SF has a thing for John Carpenter flicks.

It might also be because MGM didn't want to renew the licenses.

Can anyone remind me the Scream titles that have had disc replacements. This announcement reminded me I need to take care of that.

I know Child’s Play and Black Christmas had replacements. Any others I’m forgetting?

I wonder if any of these will be rereleased in the future as a steelbook with a new scan? And in the case of EFNY, I wonder if they’ll license the 4K transfer that’s been released overseas and do a UHD release?

Put the order in at Shout Factory. I don't actually own any of these films yet so I figured now would be the best time to pull the trigger before they're gone and prices get ridiculous on ebay. Hell, Manhunter is already being listed at $30-$40 as it is.

I placed an order for Manhunter and TCM 2 on Amazon and found Carrie with a slip for a decent price on ebay. I also already own Mad Max and Escape From NY, so that's it for this batch anyways.

Luckily I have everything I wanted from the current going OOP list already. Child’s Play I passed on since I have the complete collection set & wasn’t interested enough in the new special features to pick it up.

escape from new york has been out for like five or six years. i’m not surprised they aren’t renewing the license only because at some point, you have to think the majority of the people who were going to buy it have already bought it. i can imagine someone buying escape from la after liking new york. but i can’t imagine the reverse.

I think there is also an Australian SE that is region free, but all the special features are not.
