SNDN was one I didnt like at first and then rewatched a few years later and thought it was awesome. I think I didnt pay enough attention the first time. And it is now a favorite Christmas horror. Hope you enjoy!

But the person you quoted is doing a Christmas Horror marathon, so Die Hard doesn’t fit the horror part.

Ah! I guess I thought it was an alternate list of Christmas movies that most people don't consider Christmas Films

It does if you consider Bruce Willis' acting.

According to the doomsayers in this thread, nothing is coming except for reissues and repacks.

I do agree that 2020 was pretty good up until the October dates. Lots of titles that never had Blu-ray releases in the US. It's just their output going from November to January has been very limited and there is nothing pointing to that changing. In fact, all signs like like the lack of any announcements for Comic Con or any sort of hints point to more months of limited releases.

You should add Rare Exports, Anna and the Apocalypse, Jack Frost (1997, although the 1998 one with Michael Keaton is scary in a different way haha), Better Watch Out, A Nightmare Before Christmas, Wind Chill, Slay Belles, Red Christmas, Santa's Slay (DVD) and Elves (if you happen to have the VHS and a player still available).

I also agree that Gremlins is a must.

A few years back they announced about 10 titles on Halloween (Tales from the Hood, Firestarter, etc), so maybe they'll make up for SDCC with a similarly bumper announcement at the end of the month? I'll admit it looks unlikely at the moment but you never know.

Yeah, that would be great and I like your thinking. It would be the smart thing to do, but Shout is not always known for doing what's in their best interest at times.

There is another one I like that I can't think of the title at the moment.
It takes place at night with a family driving to a Christmss party or going home from one. There is an accident or something, and things get strange as they can't find any people or cars to get help.

Also Silent Night, Evil Night!

It's not REALLY a horror film, but I encourage you to seek out a film from 2003 called RICK starring Bill Pullman. It fits my own "dark Christmas movie" bill that I do every year.

December is still very much devoted to traditional Christmas films and tv specials for me...

[Show spoiler]Items in Bold are guaranteed watches, other items also are viewed as the time/desire arises from one year to the next)

Garfield Christmas,
Charlie Brown Christmas,
How the Grinch stole Christmas (animated),
Frosty the Snowman,
A Muppet Family Christmas,
National Lampoons Christmas Vacation,

Home Alone,
Home Alone 2,
It's a Wonderful Life,
Dr. Seuss' The Grinch (2019),
on rare occasions Jim Carrey's How the Grinch Stole Christmas though I don't care for this one,
Emmet Otter's Jug Band Christmas,
A Smurfs Christmas
'Twas the Night before Christmas (animated)
He-Man and She-ra Christmas Special
Beavis and Butthead do Christmas
Alvin and the Chipmunk Christmas Special (Golden Harmonica)
A Christmas Carol 1984
A Christmas Carol 3D
A Christmas Story
The Star
Elf
The Year without a Santa Clause
Scrooged
Ernest Saves Christmas
Shrek The Halls
Merry Madagascar
Dreamworks Dragons: Gift of the Nightfury
The Elf on the Shelf
The Santa Clause
The Santa Clause 2
The Santa Clause 3
Ice Age A Mammoth Christmas
The Polar Express
Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer
Jeff Dunhams Very Special Christmas

Holidaze: The christmas that almost didn't happen
A Flintstones Christmas
American Dad Krampus Christmas episode
etc.

I picked up quite a few cheap $1 Dollar Tree Christmas Compilations I plan to try and watch this year as well and I have a TON of tv series' that have Christmas specials that I from time to time will watch as I remember and have the time. I don't watch everything associated with Christmas, just the ones that feel like a fun traditional experience or one that I just enjoy for whatever reason (like the American Dad Krampus episode). What's listed above is what I could remember and check up on.

...and so I don't typically have much time that I a) want to devote to other films and b) just have the time to get to. Gremlins is a film that I remember watching last year but I can't remember if it was a part of the Christmas Marathon or if it was a part of a January weekend. I do have plans to pick up Vinegar Syndromes offering of Dial Code Santa Claus soon and will likely include that this year as well.

Basically, I have more movies and tv specials than I have time and so most of my Thanksgiving weekend - Christmas day viewing is devoted to traditional fare but during one weekend I'll usually knock out my horror offerings to break things up.

https://filmschoolrejects.com/every-...-movie-ranked/ - Tread carefully beyond the mid-30's or so, especially the post-2000's stuff. I watched Red Christmas, Good Tidings and All Through the House, within the span of a week and it really killed off my enthusiasm to keep up with the more obscure, more recent entries of the subgenre.

Not listed:

Treevenge. It's never been released on disc, AFAIK, but it should be available for streaming on YouTube or similar sites.

And All Through the House appears in both the 1972 Tales from the Crypt movie and the pilot episode of the TV series.

The Legend of Hell House is set during the days leading up to Christmas, but doesn't really make any specific reference to the holiday.

Twilight Zone Episode: Night of the Meek (Season 2; Episode 11)

- PAL only

Nice! I haven’t looked yet but is there a hard copy of the book available? I loved
Nightmare USA and spent a good amount of time reading that one cover to cover when it was released. Books like this make for great gift ideas and so if a hardcopy exists I'll add it to my Christmas list of ideas for my wife.
