They still seem to be on life support though.

Anyways I'm definitely grabbing Raw. Glad it's finally getting a U.S release.

So to recap, that would mean a five-month release schedule as follows (I don't count IFC titles here):

November - Brides of Dracula (newly restored with new extras, but a title with a prior Blu-ray release), How to Make a Monster and War of the Colossal Beast (both originally slated for release earlier in the year, delayed by several months)

December - Nothing

January - They Live 4K, Prince of Darkness 4K (titles already restored in 4K and released overseas, no new extras)

February - My Bloody Valentine steelbook (repack)

March - Event Horizon (originally slated for release in September of this year)

In terms of what's coming, we know an Army of Darkness 4K release is in the works. Also, a Dog Soldiers steelbook listing appeared somewhere - presumably they're using the newer restoration from Europe. It seemed like Dead Zone was planned, hopefully that one is still on the way.
Dead Zone is a day 1 preorder for me, I love that movie. I just hope it's possible for 2021.

It's not that simple.

First they would need to get approval to do that from whoever they licensed each film from. And they have already let it be known that a lot of studios are not allowing them to release certain films in 4K, for example the F13th films.

And even if they were able to re-release everything in 4K, that doesn't mean they would want to. Not everything sells well enough for them to want to do that for every title.

Scream Factory still has the three remaining titles from Universal's Hammer Horror Collection to release, if they choose to do so. Night Creatures/Captain Clegg, Pananoiac, and Nightmare.

Pretty much at this point. I'm sure they will still be around, but I'm expecting more at the level of Blue Underground. Something here and there, but nowhere near the level that they once were.

The writing was on the wall with them not renewing a ton of films, as well as that unusual sale from them. Who knows what's going on behind closed doors. They might just be tired of it all and want to retire. Who knows.

They posted this in response to someone questioning if they would have more catalog releases on Facebook...under the Rent A Pal announcement:

Quote:
Actually we are far from over but there will be "dry spell" for awhile. Let us try to explain as best as we can:

The COVID situation / working from home situation has affected everyone, including us and other partners that we make deals from. What you're starting to see in the short-term is a dip in new physical older catalog output as a result. Rest assured though that we are coming back extremely strong starting in May. And we certainly have some sought-after older films coming to Blu including some often-requested slasher films.

Hang in there (and stay safe) everyone and start saving for next Summer & beyond. We're very excited about the slate we have to reveal starting with May - which will be announcing in Feb.

Much gratitude to you & our other valued supporters,

Scream Factory Team

Glad to hear they are not dead just yet, but that is a complete BS cop out answer. Literally every other label and studio has been releasing and announcing catalog titles.

That's great to hear. And that's all we ask for, just some reassurance and clarity.

I'll say one thing about this dry period - at least it's allowed me to get (sort of) caught up on my Scream Factory wants list.

Unless they've made some independent deals (or gone very deep into the MGM vaults), I've a feeling those 'often-requested slasher films' will be of the Warner Bros variety.

Sounds right. Even Arrow is seeing a dip/switching up to steelbook and/or 4k releases of previous titles.

I'm happy to wait for announcements when things get either back to normal or the kinks of the new work environment get more smoothed out.

Plus, as other have said, has given me a chance to save some cash, and/or spend some cash on older releases (from SF or other labels) in the meantime.

That and maybe save some flow for more things later. Or other items you've been meaning to get.

Glad they provided some transparency. We've been asking for some for a while.

Wonder what slashers they have. Maybe it's Cheerleader Camp since I bought the DVD the other day off ebay.

Bizarre responses considering the amount of stuff we got this year. They have a dry spell for a few months and that means they’re over? Ok.

It was a great year for releases even if you don’t include the Friday set, which was a big seller for them(and will almost certainly lead to a NOES set). They’ve even started to release UHD titles(including a new restoration of Army of Darkness).

I'm willing to throw a bone because of COVID. And after all the work that went into Friday the 13th.
So to me, yeah I don't mind the wait until May. It seems like they still have some smaller or newer titles to release until then.

And as I mentioned earlier, this just allows you to spend money elsewhere. Or buy films you haven't gotten yet. Or save money.
