I hadn't heard either of those rumors/comments, so that is certainly promising if true. I hope I'm wrong with my estimation but until we start hearing announcements I'm going to remain very reluctant to get too excited.

Paramount has seen renewed demand in putting out and remastering more of their back catalog on Blu and for 4k Digital services. I heard their US branch has recently ceased licencing all titles and now prefer to release their back catalog offerings themselves.

What Scream put out and might have left over from the Paramount deals they had, may be of the last licenced titles from them for now. This could also explain how Paramount had put out The Dead Zone for the first time on BD in that 5 movie set, despite having licenced it to Shout for a release we're still waiting for. Granted Criterion is also putting out a few Paramount titles in 2021, but they're ones they've had new transfers done for and all under wraps for a while before Paramount's recent policy change.

Many will say Imprint's been putting out lots of Paramount titles recently, but the're in Australia and Paramount's AU branch operates differently than the main USA one. Plus, Australia is a smaller physical media market in general.

But I thought physical media wasn’t worth the effort. Mere peanuts to the big studios

Is there a list out there of all the Scream Factory Blu-ray releases that are 2-disc?

If Paramount has ceased licensing altogether, that would be a devastating blow to Shout. If true (and I say if because this is the first time we're hearing about it), then TripleHBK's assessment would be accurate. Expect a flurry of re-releases on UHD and very little in the way of Blu-ray premieres. Perhaps Warner may throw Shout a handful of titles their way yet but the lack of news (or anything new since the last deal) worries me. Look, if Paramount wants to release their films themselves, great, but they REALLY need to pick up the pace. A couple of Paramount Presents titles every 2-3 months isn't cutting it.

Personally, the prospects of a wave of UHD reissues doesn't exactly blow my socks off. I'd love certain films in 4K, like To Live and Die In L.A., Valley Girl and a few others, but, realistically, Shout will more likely stick to "bigger guns" when deciding what to upgrade. Don't be surprised if we get yet another Friday the 13th set in 4K this time. Yawn.

The Dead Zone seems plausible for May assuming that they weren't pulling folk's leg all this time but beyond that I'm keeping my expectations very, very low. I'd love to be shocked/surprised with some truly killer announcements but I worry that those days are largely behind us with Scream Factory and the corner we are about to turn is one squarely into double dip UHD territory.
Hey Trip, any guesses what might make it to 4K from Scream? Think they will all be double dips?

If Warner is throwing Shout a couple for 4K, I'd like to see The Lost Boys hit 4K. But it would most likely be Universal, right? So they are probably going to announce Army of Darkness officially. Also hoping Paramount didn't pull away from licensing to Scream/Shout. I was hoping for a Shout Select release of 48 Hrs. considering the line already has Walter Hill and Eddie Murphy. I think anything is possible, but I struggle to believe that Scream Factory is coming to it's end.

I wish they would release more Corman titles, even if it’s website exclusives, now that the case with his children was settled. It makes me wonder if the settlement might have blocked future home video releases since they haven’t really released any new titles. Just a couple of re-issues from previous DVD releases.

It sounds like once the current deal with Paramount is done, it's done which kind of sucks.

Paramount is even reissuing titles on Blu-ray that were released by Criterion initially.

Maybe Escape From NY as well, since it already has a 4K release overseas as well.

Did Shout lose any money because of this? Maybe this is the reason they're on hiatus.

I think they don't have the rights to Escape anymore. That's why they let it go OOP. Wouldn't surprise me if Kino release it on 4K.

I believe announced all of their 2021 MGM titles, but I think they said they have a 4K title coming in 2022 from the deal. They did say they are talking to MGM about a new deal. Hopefully they get that deal in before Amazon or Apple buys MGM.

It might be. Their standard blu is still available.

So far the only Scream/Shout! 4K UHDs are from Universal in the states, so it's hard to make a call if the will have any coming from MGMs catalog.

Unfortunately, Disney and Lionsgate still seem to have that mindset.

Certainly nothing to get worked up about just yet as it may very well be just typical banter, but... Did Bill just unintentionally drop some info? Could this be the hypothetical "Save your Money" May bombshell?
