I know they don't have the rights to Escape from New York anymore as they let their Collectors Edition go OOP.

A 4K of "Cat People" with all the features from the DVD release Shout couldn't lease last time would be the bee's knees.

Yeah, but if they wanted to keep Escape from New York they wouldn't have let the license expire. I guess they could make another brand new deal, but that wouldn't make sense when they already had the title and renewing costs are usually lower than a new acquisition.

Scream just announced that their Raw release will actually have a lot of extras: https://www.facebook.com/10396193640...792324154/?d=n

The Isle of the Dead thing is interesting. What if Shout actually did have a release planned but Warner yanked it at the last minute so they could do it? If that's the case, what else have they yanked from under Shout? Deadly Friend? The Hand? We'll know for sure if Deadly Friend turns up on Warner Archive in the near future. Maybe Warner have had a change of heart with regards to licensing.

I tend to think it was more of a Shout! Factory decision not to proceed with Isle of the Dead. I don't recall exactly when or where, but I do recall Jeff Nelson mentioning that the Lewton titles had not sold well for them.

I thought Scream implied (or maybe it was some other insider?) that the previous Lewtons Scream put out did so poorly that they let IOTD go back to Warner - maybe exchanged it for something else, or got a refund. Who knows what their contract stated and if that were even allowed? But it was definitely out there that Scream's Lewtons did poorly.
I seriously doubt Warner wanted IOTD back themselves, especially as IOTD is lower tier Lewton (which is still good), but no where near the top tier as The Body Snatcher was. And TBS did poorly for Scream, maybe because of the high price to recoup mastering costs? And so why continue on with a much lesser title like IOTD where you will lose even more money? And there are no other interested parties in these Lewtons, it seems, outside of Kino who has no WB deal. The two top tier Lewtons left are I Walked With a Zombie and the excellent Bedlam. Ghost Ship and The 7th Victim are both terrific, too, but no where on the same level, at least in my eyes. I hope WAC can get the other 4 Lewtons out, so everybody buy up IOTD and show some love!!! ![]() |

So if Isle of the Dead is lower-tier and Lewton generally didn't sell well for Shout, this means that Warner is just randomly picking what to release on Blu-ray without conducting much research. Because if they researched, they'd know that something like Deadly Friend will probably outsell an old Lewton film and should've been released on Blu-ay ages ago.

Since 88 Films released a I Know What You Did Last Summer set, is Scream Factory likely to release one too either on BD or UHD?
