Wow May is looking very solid for SF, I haven't seen a line up this good in awhile from both announcements of Scream & Shout Select lines.....
I'm guessing with Warner Archive whole department being shuttered, will be seeing a lot more WB titles coming to SF Fingers Crossed for Deadly Friend!!!! |

Great announcements, same for the Select line. The Select line getting Paramount AND Warner titles is really huge news. It means Shout can double their releases from both studios while digging deeper into their catalogs.

They make no mention of a new HD master for King Kong 76 the way they do for He Knows You're Alone, Eyes of a Stranger and The Hand (the three of which I'm much more excited about) nor do they mention the source for the TV cut. Until they say otherwise, I'd assume they're probably using the older StudioCanal master, from over a decade ago, for the theatrical cut and either an SD master for the TV cut or an HD/SD composite.

Well, yesterday's announcements were quite the surprise! I imagine these were from the prior Paramount and Warner deals, and have started to work on them more now or finish them being that things are sorta stabilizing where they can now have release dates for most of them.

So what's the deal with Warner Archive? I'm thinking if they're undergoing cutbacks, even if it's just personnel and not an actual reduction of output, perhaps that could have an effect on future deals not only with Shout but other boutiques as well. Namely, we could see a LOT more titles through Shout, content that maybe Warner planned to release themselves. Is this a possibility? In any case, if all we get are Alone In the Dark and Deadly Friend in the future (if this batch is indeed from a prior deal), I'd be very happy.

Exactly.
I'm hoping Alone in the Dark (1982) arrives this fall (September or October) along with A Nightmare on Elm Street 9-film collection box set and hopefully, Black Christmas (2006) in December - just in time for its 15th anniversary. |

Given the significant gap after The Leopard Man (July 2019), I'd say this is a continuation of a second larger Warner deal that was inked in early 2020, and gave us Bones, Thirteen Ghosts, Ghost Ship, Hills Run Red, and the 3 Friday the 13th films before the effects of the pandemic really began to bite and led Scream/Shout to slow down significantly for 7 months (in this case impacting them and their partners). That said, it's quite possible they added further titles to the deal during this break.

Honestly, Kong '05 felt more fun than Skull Island. Vogt Roberts can cram as many references into his films he wants. Doesn't improve the lack of character or point.
That's why I'm looking forward to rewatching Kong '76. It's been a while. |

Kong is the "Great Ape." He is something that the world has never seen before. Peter Jackson's movie just makes him out to be an unusually large silverback gorilla, and that's not right. Also, King Kong (2005) was a long, long movie. We did not need to have a PhD thesis side story about vaudeville at the beginning, nor did we need the Heart of Darkness side plot. |

Scream Factory, if you're reading this... this release is more special than just a poster. Is it too late to include a booklet or art cards? John Berkey's poster concepts for this film are nothing short of spectacular, and while I love Hugh Fleming, I feel like the road of concepts that lead to the iconic poster is worth preserving in the presentation:
