Well, to be fair, Scream has a pretty solid track record regarding stills galleries. They've never done art cards to my knowledge, but the stills galleries are usually of good to great quality. More than most companies are willing to do, frankly.

That being said: THOSE ARE F***ING AWESOME and I'd take those art cards in a millisecond.

Kong is the "Great Ape." He is something that the world has never seen before.

Peter Jackson's movie just makes him out to be an unusually large silverback gorilla, and that's not right.

Also, King Kong (2005) was a long, long movie. We did not need to have a PhD thesis side story about vaudeville at the beginning, nor did we need the Heart of Darkness side plot.

I can understand the take on 05. I'm fine with the idea of a big gorilla. To me, it's an fine change that doesn't take any from the overall film. Makes it more world understanding. The thing is he's still a huge entity. That's still a wonder.

The opening is a bit of a drag but Im all in for the film. It's a perfect change of pace from Jackson's precious outing. Except he's carrying over some things (long run time being one).

It also helped I saw this when I was starting to challenge myself and watch almost any and everything. So I had seen the original film and this felt like a perfect send up and appreciation of it.

Also helped I played the game that went along with it.

For those interested I thought I'd also update the list of potential Warner titles Scream might release. I've not included anything pre-1950, since I suspect Warner Archive is now the most likely outlet for these. I have included HBO titles, though I expect these are probably out of bounds. Again, if I've made any mistakes or left anything out, please let me know, this might prove a useful resource to some people:

[Show spoiler]Phantom of the Rue Morgue

If Scream ever got Salem's Lot, I hope they would at least then release A Return to Salem's Lot too.

I second this, I love Larry Cohen films, they may be cheesy but they are a ton of fun.

Impressive research as always BarnDoor, though I have two suggestions for inclusion:

DEAD CALM - a terrific thriller that is disappointingly bare bones; would love to see this released as a collector's edition.

PRACTICAL MAGIC - perhaps this would be better as a Shout Select title, but I could see it happening. It's currently a bare bones co-feature with the equally bare bones THE WITCHES OF EASTWICK but, unlike that title, PRACTICAL MAGIC had supplements (including a commentary) on its DVD release that could potentially be ported over to a collector's edition Blu.

I was a huge fan of the 1975 remake of The Spiral Staircase mentioned above, the one starring Jacqueline Bisset and Christopher Plummer, when I was a kid. It used to air on HBO a lot during my childhood, and it was one of the grittier PG-rated horror offerings shown during the daytime. I'll always associate the late great Christopher Plummer with that role.

Plus, it stars Gayle Hunnicutt, and everyone on this forum knows how much I love her.

So does Red Eye still have a chance? Maybe they'll release it the same month they're doing Deadly Friend?

Cry_Wolf would be a dream too, imo. I'm honestly a little shocked it still hasn't been picked up by anyone or released by Universal directly.

I just want to say welcome back Scream Factory! I knew you weren't going belly-up. Happy to see a solid slate of tiles for May. King Kong (1976) is one of my favorites and looks to be an awesome CE.

Certainly there's a lot more possibilities, especially looking at BarnDoor's list at post #75144. And there's the possibility of a Nightmare on Elm Street box set. I think the rest of this year is going to be strong for SF.

Which is a shame, considering it's a damn good film. Maybe just put it out with no extras? Of course, that's if WB would even let them have it.

If we were looking at another film that generated $35 million in domestic ticket sales, that might be a different story, but I think we're looking at a title whose sales are likely to be marginal, at best. Dealing with the inevitable "you know who" social media backlash, on a title that may struggle to break even, with or without extras, is probably a bridge too far.

If Shout ever gets the chance to release HBO titles i hope they release Cast a Deadly Spell (1991), The version that you can watch on HBO on demand is heavily censored and a dated cropped print from canadian tv. I would also like to see them release Harrison Bergeron (1995) or The Final Cut (1995) if Paramount can license any of the films they got when they bought Republic Pictures.

I really wonder how far down the well Scream/Shout will be able to go with Warner. I really hope this is a long lasting relationship and it's great that we are getting Shout Select titles that are WB films.

I fear there aren't that many Paramount titles left, but I hope I'm wrong.

If Warner really is cutting back on physical media maybe they'll be more willing to farm stuff out. Maybe the Archive line will go exclusively Golden Age and titles like TCM III will be licensed more frequently.

Speaking of Warner, I hope Warner will let Shout put out a much-needed remaster of Spies Like Us - the current version, coupled with Funny Farm, is one of the worst.

I agree MJD...but seeing you advocating for DEAD CALM and PRACTICAL MAGIC, could it be because a certain Nice Kalon actress from Down Under graces those films?
