If this was pandemicrelated dude they should not release any movie at all. This virus is here to stay rest of our life so get used to it. The world is like it is nothing to do about it.

They didn’t release anything for months before the May announcements. They’re getting back to releases, but there’s not some switch they can flip to return everything back to normal. It’ll take time.

First, it's not a horror movie. Based off book by Robin Cook (Coma). If you like Coma, it's similar. Female archeologist uncovers plot to steal Egyptian artifacts. Puts her in danger.

I love "Coma", and I barely remember that I saw this once on cable in the 1980s. I'll pick it up, regardless...

When I saw that picture of Kindred, I almost fell out of my chair!! I thought Scream had wrangled the title from Synapse's cold dead hands...

Then I noticed it was the 2020 title....

I wonder if Shout might have been able WB to license them The Devils. It's long overdue and it wouldn't be WB releasing it.

Brace yourself for some horrifying casting choices, including Frank Langella and Sir John Gielgud as Egyptians. I loved Coma as well (book and movie), but Sphinx was a box-office and critical catastrophe and I must confess that when I saw it back in 1981 I couldn't make any sense of it.

Maybe there was a shortage of good authentic Egyptian actors at the time? Horrible casting choices are what Hollywood is all about. My favorite are Germans masquerading as Mexicans

BTW, I never try to make sense of movies like this. Sometimes movies are just turn your brain off things to enjoy on boring Saturday afternoons. If I'm reasonably entertained it's all I need.

The novel fills in some gaps but I think if you revisit it today it’ll make sense even without reading the novel. The film does have some holes but I’ve watched it twice several years ago and the second time around it made sense. I mainly just enjoy it for the setting and the cinematography is good. Plus the score is excellent.

It's currently streaming on Shudder. I keep forgetting to check it out. I've always wanted to see it.

If you check it out, let us know how it looks. It seems like it's also an element issue keeping it from getting a release.

Sucks there is no CE this time around. I am starting to doubt they still have The Dead Zone, but I am holding out hope.

Well, there could a couple of reasons we haven't seen The Dead Zone from SF yet. I too am starting to doubt whether they still have it or not. But perhaps they are still working on special features in this age of covid produce a (hopefully) great CE. Another theory is perhaps Paramount had put up some sort of stipulation that prevents SF from releasing it too soon after their release in that five disc Stephen King pack, which was last September.

But yeah, if Scream Factory doesn't make an announcement in the next few months... I wonder.

They literally told me they would release it, but things can change I suppose. Believe it or not, at least in terms of the technical specks, the Paramount release is pretty good despite a low review here. I have TONS of films that have more DNR and less detail than this release that have gotten much better scores here.

Either way, maybe they have to wait 12 months minimum after Paramount's release.

I came across Needful Things TV cut on youtube, and it looks to be in HD, I hope Scream Factory releases it in the future. I feel the TV cut fleshes the characters out more than the theatrical cut (especially the relationship between Danforth Keeton and his wife Myrtle)

Here is a link:

How the heck does flagrantly illegal stuff like that stay on youtube for months while if you like, post a 10 second video you took in a bar where there was some popular song playing on the jukebox at the time you'll get it taken down for copyright infringement???

:P

I might have to watch that before someone reports it. I read the book a long, long time ago and have fond memories (besides the
[Show spoiler]dead dog
), but I've always put off watching the movie, especially after everyone complained about the shorter version that reached blu-ray.

The German Koch release is slightly higher quality than the Kino, AND includes the TV Cut.
