Wow. Never thought I'd see the day.
It actually concerns me a bit that they’d need to pinch pennies on case type while still charging their normal price... perhaps they’re not doing the best, financially speaking?

When this has happened unexpectedly in the past with other labels, they've blamed it on the replicator being out-of-stock for their normal preferred case.

We'll probably just get a couple smaller titles like what we're getting for June. With how stacked July is I'm not mad, gives me more time to get caught up. Hope we get Army of Darkness or some other Carpenter 4Ks soon.

I'm a little bummed that August will be 'very light' but Shout ended their long hiatus with a pretty big bang in May, which I'm still happy about. Returns have actually been somewhat diminishing since that first wave (The Awakening and Sphinx were nice announcements but nothing terribly exciting) but I'm confident they'll come back strong in September and onwards.

Regarding the eco cases, maybe Shout has no say in it? They use vendors for everything. I have a good bit of spare cases lying around that I've been wanting to put to use.

If there's a "light" period, can we expect more frequent Roger Corman limited drops in that time? They gotta keep the revenue stream flowing.

I'm hoping that's what is going on here. I can't stand eco cases. Even with the movie still wrapped, you just pick it up and you can tell.

Me too man. Though I don't think that Shout will nab it. It always seemed like a Kino release to me.
And I feel like there would have to be more of a reason to release it. Maybe Mitchell could try to get it on a label with also offering his short film and a commentary on it. But other than that, I don't ever picture this seeing light. Shame.

I was just thinking because it’s IFC. I was hoping they would try to go backwards with IFC releases.

That would be rad, but I'd much rather Shout (Select?) put out a pressed blu of his Under the Silver Lake first. It's only BD-R in North America, and I keep hoping Shout or Criterion or anybody will give it a little label release, like how The Wizard had that terrible Universal release before Shout gave it the love it deserved.

God, I hope that's a thing they eventually do. There's plenty of IFC films I would like to see get a stateside release. Sightseers being one.

I mean, why not both? But Under the Silver Lake being A24/Lionsgate the best we could probably hope for is a pressed 4K/Blu release from A24 themselves.

Or if you’re Region Free there’s a UK release of Silver Lake.

Why not both films? I would love for Mitchell's work to get proper releases.

But hate to be a negative nelly, but I doubt it. Don't think his debut will get a release since IFC films that are more than a couple years old don't get a release after such a long time.
And I don't think his third effort will get a proper release since it's an A24/Lionsgate film. Lionsgate is awful. They need to break that contract and find a proper home.

When I added The Omen set to my collection the other day I noticed something.

The Critters Collection came out in Nov 2018
The Omen Collection came out in Oct 2019
Friday the 13th Collection came out in Oct 2020

And though I don't have it, the REC Collection came out in Sep 2018.

They need to keep the streak alive.

Outside of the Nightmare On Elm Street, I wonder what else they would consider?

The only other franchises I can think of would be The Exorcist and the Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Maybe Hellraiser. But I bet the rights for the last two would be too much of a headache.

Hmm. Excorcist could be possible as well as Texas Chainsaw. The first few Hellraiser films are with Arrow so that's out for now at least.

Final Destination is New Line/WB so that would be a possible box set too.

The Fly Collection was a fall release also.

Texas Chainsaw Massacre might be a challenge because the first film is owned by Dark Sky while Chainsaw 3D and Leatherface are owned by Lionsgate and Shout! has deals with neither (though they did on occasion twice with Power Ranger and the My Little Pony movies respectively).

Exorcist is not a challenge because despite the post-part II films now owned entirely by Morgan Creek, Sony handles distribution and they have a deal with Shout!. Add Shout!'s deal with Warner and you have a big 50th Anniversary box set (this time containing the TRUE theatrical version of the first film!).

Other candidates include:

-Poltergeist (depending on where Shout!'s deal with MGM currently lies and if they can convince Fox/Disney to sublicense the remake)

-Chucky (again, depending on where their deal with MGM lies and is we the fans keep convincing Universal to sublicense the sequels out to Shout!).

-Tales From The Crypt Trilogy (4K remasters of the Universal films, and thanks to Paramount's 49% stake in Miramax, which includes home video rights, Ritual)

-I Know What You Did Last Summer Trilogy

-Anaconda/Lake Placid box set (just need to talk to Fox/Disney about sublicensing the first 2 Placid films)
