They appear to have given up on their Spanish horror line entirely. At least they released a few like The Werewolf and the Yeti, A Dragonfly for Each Corpse, The Hunchback of the Morgue, & Fangs of the Living Dead which didn’t have great DVD releases.

Kinda wish they wouldn't have given up on them. In the last year I've really gotten into it, and man there is some good stuff. Thankfully Mondo is still releasing it, but it's a title here and there.

I think VS will pick up the slack once labs re-open in Spain.

I do remember hearing something about a forthcoming VS Spanish box set, hopefully the first of several. The films VS usually release don’t thrill me much but I have to admit that I could not be happier with their deep cut giallo volumes.

Jason Goes To Hell and Jason X had a ton of new extras and JGTH had a new 2K scan of the interpositve, and the unrated version in HD for the first time, so I don't think there would be a problem there.

But I feel IKWYDLS and Final Destination seem possible, assuming the rights are theirs for the taking.
I don't think it's a secret that we ALL would love an Elm Street box set from Scream Factory to go along with our Halloween and Friday The 13th sets. Whether WB will license them out is another story altogether (although I think it's much more likely now than it would've been during the first Warner deal).

And I could see both of those franchises getting possible box sets as well (although I personally wouldn't be interested in those).

As hungrywives said, SF were only allowed to use the commercially available discs for Freddy Vs. Jason and the remake. They were able to go to town with Jason Goes To Hell and Jason X, so it wasn't a case where they were completely handcuffed with the Warner titles.

And yeah, I'd love to see Freddy's Nightmares get a release as well.

I still have my copy of the original DVD set of NOES (because of the original poster artwork on the snap cases), I never bothered with any of the Blu upgrades because I felt eventually SF would release the definitive collectors set at some point.

Does Warner Bros. still do their own restorations themselves? I remember years ago reading that because WB had their own in-house restoration/scan that it was a small part of why they never licensed out films. Now it seems like part of their willingness to license to labels is because the labels are willing to fund the restorations or 4K scans. If that is the case, I could see WB licensing out NOES if SF was paying for a new 4K scan of the films plus the 3D conversion for Freddy's Dead! it would be a win win for both companies....

Not really because most of us throw them out and replace them with nice cases

I stand corrected. Had a senior moment. I had this thought in the back of my mind that there had been something new among the Warner Brothers-owned films in the set (should have remembered the new scan of Jason Goes to Hell, as the replacement discs arrived earlier this year).

Random thought: If Shout's Fall slate (September/October) turned out to be 4k steelbook releases of Friday the 13th 1-4 (all sold separately) would you be excited or disappointed? The fact that they are essentially taking August off doesn't fill me with confidence that they have all that much lined up for the rest of the year either. Deadly friend, Alone in the Dark, etc seem probable but we've been saying that for a while now as well and so while I do expect a handful of new announcements I'm also preparing myself for a relatively low key fall as well.

Given that 4k scans were completed for the earlier Friday films and the lack of other releases for August, would the announcement of Friday 1 & 2 UHD's in September and Friday 3/4 UHD's in October along with only 1 or two other releases each month be something that would leave you feeling good about the fall season or not?

Personally I'd be extremely disappointed but I'm also not as gung-ho about 4k as some folks are so I'd be curious to hear if folks would consider UHDs of those films big enough for their liking for the Halloween season or not.

I'd be disappointed...seems not that long ago FOMO took hold and I preordered the Shout! boxset from GHV. Feeling a bit worried I wouldn't get one as demand was so high and it was supposed to be limited.
Personally, I'm not interested in F13 in 4k. I'm perfectly happy with the boxset and will more than likely never buy the movies again.... I've purchased them on VHS, the '04 Ultimate collection DVD set, and the 2018 8 movie collection and now the Shout! set. I'm done lol

I may be wrong on this, but I'm under the impression that any new scans for any of the Warner or Paramount titles SF have put out have been done by the studio, and not SF themselves. That's why only the first four films in the Friday the 13th box set got new 4K scans for example: those were the only ones Paramount had done at the time.

Now, if you'd asked me a couple years ago, I'd have said that an Elm Street box set from SF would've been a pipe dream. Even after they'd started initially working with Criterion and Shout Factory, they weren't known as a studio to license any-and-everything out. Not to mention that A Nightmare on Elm Street is one of their bigger horror franchises.

I think it's much more likely now, since Warner appears to have become even more license friendly with Shout, not to mention it would be a huge get for SF (just as Friday and Halloween were). That said, if it happened, I'd expect Warner to provide the transfers to be used instead of Shout doing it themselves. I could see a new 4K transfer for the first film being in the works (I'm actually surprised Warner hasn't done a UHD of it already), but I'm not sure about new transfers for the rest of them, if I had to be completely honest.

I wouldn't expect SF to be releasing UHDs of them anyway (since Paramount won't license those out), but if UHDs of the films (from either SF or Paramount) were announced, I'd likely do the same thing I've done with subsequent rereleases of the Halloween films. I'd just get the newer release and switch out or add them to the box set.

As far as just steelbooks of regular Blu-Rays using the new transfers go, I wouldn't worry about them, since I've got those discs in the box set already.

Id be super disappointed & wouldnt buy them anyway. I dont need to have everything I own on BD on upgraded to 4K the same way I didnt need all of my DVDs upgraded to BD.
