This. Rick Baker's effects are the real star of the show and realistically the only reason to take IMM even remotely seriously.

My two cents plus other odds and ends

I can live with GODSEND (or any movie) on DVD just as long as it's not a butchered version and it's in the Original Aspect Ratio. This includes fullscreen if it was shot that way. Fake widescreen is just as bad as pan and scan IMO. I don't mind too much if it's an old transfer - but it's gotta be fully uncut.

I have a deep respect for the art of filmmaking. I think even cheesy movies deserve to be preserved and shown exactly as the director intended. This is why I believe something like MST3K is trash. You have silhouettes of presumed hipsters masquerading as robots (huh?) superimposed over the bottom of the screen making fun of movies someone gave part of his soul to make? I liken this to rich people making fun of poor people. Or someone looking at a disabled person and snickering. It's just not right. I'll never understand why someone would waste their time watching a film while listening to these jokers make fun of (in their eyes) bad films.

I would LOVE for Shout to make a deal with Lionsgate since they have a ton of cult movies but not until they've sucked MGM dry. It'll be the same situation as with the last of the Corman titles - Shout will start to focus on the new acquisition and begin to lose interest in the MGM stuff and leave desired titles to drift in the wind. I don't want that to happen.

Maybe on the setting, bodega bay in real life, which was also used for the birds (and now where John carpenter lives)

Ditto. I'll wait for it included with a future boxset instead. Only way I care about the IMM.

Oh no, he will do interviews but he is still a very busy man. Recently he did an interview on the Criterion's ISLAND OF LOST SOULS.

I have huge respect for the art of filmmaking to but I'd like to be good sport when it comes to MST3k or anything from Channel Awesome.

People can find the joy in something good or bad.

It's probably Jamie Lee, but i'm thinking it could also be an interview with the reclusive Rob Bottin.

Of course the fact I'll get it or not won't make a difference but lack of respect equals no sale for me.
The funny thing is, there are people would would buy it ONLY if it included the mst3k episode

But you don't have to worry since it isn't included!

Basically I think Jeff was saying the movie will wind up on an MST3K box set in the future no doubt, but its not an extra on the Blu Ray
Looks like the Horror Show will be a stand alone - it will do well I think
A very expensive and never on sale boxset.

You need to get out more. I hate to break it to you, but most of the movies shown on MST3K were either ill-conceived from the start or just made for a quick-buck. If not for MST3K...Manos, The Incredible Melting Man and Mitchell would only be a faint memory and never bought onto newer formats.

I think it is best said that Elvira and MST3K were the things that kept movies, like "Squirm", half way relevant to movie viewers. After all, most of the SF titles are not masterpieces, and this is what kept them alive after all these years.

I would have bought "The Incredible Melting Man" regardless of what was on it, sure I would have rather had the episode. But whether or not a movie's release contains an episode of an obscure show does not define the movie itself.

And I'm not surprised that "The Godsend" and "The Vagrant" were DVD only. I will be passing on it, because I don't buy movies on DVD when they are free on the internet in some form or another. I will happily scoop up any Blu-Ray they throw our way, as I have bought all of them so far. This is just my stance. I have not bought a DVD in almost two years. I understand that it wasn't financially possible, and I get it.

I get out enough, thank you. OTOH, if you have time to sit through genuinely bad movies while listening to "robots" make comments then may I suggest YOU get out more?

Incredible Melting Man, Squirm and other similar films are getting second lives on home video because many people watched them in cinemas or on TV, fondly remember them and want them to receive the best treatment on the latest home theater format, not because they saw a condensed version of the film on a low-rent show where things are made fun of. Chances are if that's the only way you'll watch "bad" movies, you're not going to spend money on a legitimate release.

Look, we get you dont like MST3K..but you dont need to post 100 times about it. And well, you dont get MST3K. As Joel would say "they dont get it"
The makers of the movie Time Chasers made the movie specifically to get the MST3K treatment. The show made many many films famous because of it. It was a very popular show, highly funny and highly entertainment to millions of viewers and having met the cast on their Cinematic Titanic tour, they are all good funny laid back people. Some people have an open mind and a sense of humor about it. Most of the films used for the were poor films and those making it knew that as well. Film might be art - would you call Manos art ? I call it dookie and if it wasnt for MST3K it wouldnt be an iconic staple as it is today.
Anyway freedom of speech says we are all entitled to our own opinions ..and well I get out too !

I liken this to rich people making fun of poor people. Or someone looking at a disabled person and snickering. It's just not right. I'll never understand why someone would waste their time watching a film while listening to these jokers make fun of (in their eyes) bad films.

They commented on FB that "The Amityville Trilogy" will be BD only.

I am getting it because I only buy blu-ray anyway, just thought I would post for those that only buy their dvds.

I think this also means they won't be Collector's Editions, but will I'm thinking they might do some newly commissioned artwork on the actual 'box' set, compiling all 3 films, and then have the original posters on the plastic cases, with scenes on the inside. I think that would be a cool way to go about it.

Well I'm buying both formats anyway. I'm not that picky.

5 of the 9 Collector's Editions released so far haven't been combo packs, so I wouldn't assume that the lack of DVDs means they won't be Collector's Editions. Still, I wouldn't think that a box set would have a commissioned art slipcover, or poster(s), so your description of the set's appearance sounds about right to me. I'm thinking two discs - one with the first film and its extras, and a second disc with the two sequels and probably an interview/retrospective on each one, plus perhaps commentary track(s).
