I have to say it as well, that cover for 'Deadly Friend' is... horrendous... but I'm glad to able to pick it up!
When WAC released Night School, I kind of figured it was only a matter of time before they did the same with Killer Party. Unfortunately that never ended up happening. I'm delighted that it's finally a reality. While I would have preferred WAC over SF, I'll take what I can get.
I like and enjoy Killer Party. It's definitely a low-key affair and all over the place in terms of plot and structure, but its fun nonetheless.
As for the Deadly Friend cover, I surprisingly love it. I usually hate, hate, hate the commissioned covers done by SF, but I really enjoy this one. Its simple and to the point design wise. I'll also take this over the usual floating heads, comic book/fan boy approach or whatever the Halloween 4k covers were.

Agree with everything here. Would have preferred it come from WAC, but glad to get it.

I also am disappointed with most commissioned art outside of a select few of the top guys. I just wish they would either do a classic art version, or a site exclusive flip version with commish on one side classic on the other.

There are just certain movies where it doesn't matter how many times it's been released, you go with the classic. Halloween, The Thing, BTILC etc. etc.

Damn, Scream Factory is delivering a ton of long-awaited wishlist titles this year. So many in fact, it almost makes you wonder what they could even have left in the pipeline for next year.

Almost.

Other than lower price points, what advantages does WAC offer over Shout? I'm genuinely befuddled by this. I don't have a lot of WAC titles in my collection but the majority of the ones I own are bare-minimum affairs (many are movie-only discs). I always prefer stacked Blu-rays over plain vanilla ones regardless of the film.

Advantages? None, unless you like MOD art more. Both WAC and the WB releases from Shout are remastered.

I need their Elm Street collection badly. I still haven't upgraded from my Elm Street DVD set because I hated the official blu rays released.

Those of you considering purchasing Shout Factory's Killer Party when it is released in October... please take this bit of information into account prior to pre-ordering...

I don't know about anyone else but this is a deal breaker for me...

Per the IMDB website:

Quote:
Prior to release, MGM cut bloody details from almost every on-screen murder in the film. Just before its release American horror magazine Fangoria published photos of the numerous death scenes pruned from the final cut. These scenes have not been restored back into the film.
And in case anyone is wondering if Shout re-instated those lost minutes... they have not. The run time given on Shout's site is 91 minutes... which is the original theatrical runtime... and Shout has the film listed as rated R... not Unrated.

Just a friendly FYI...

What advantages does WAC offer over SF? Lower prices and most importantly A/V wise and in terms of QC they're mileeees better. WAC treatment = 4k scan of OCN (I know there has been a few exceptions), great encoding/compression and like I said, lower prices. Whereas with SF, you have = higher prices, 2k scans from an interpositive, the usual hit or miss encoding/compression and sloppy QC. I do agree that SF produces great special features and I applaud them for that. Having interviews, documentaries or commentaries is great, especially for titles that were previously barebones affairs. However, they're just as their name implies, an added bonus or an extra. What really matters is the QC and the disc's A/V. I'll take WAC's plain vanilla affairs over SF stacked discs any day.

All of that was already known. Shout looked into it, and was not able to source anything. Too bad that an exclusion of a cut of the movie that doesn't exist and hasn't been seen by the general public is a deal-breaker for you

Definitely in for Deadly Friend and Killer Party. Too bad WAC wasn't releasing KP though.

So it could be barebones instead of having extras?

This is what I'm confused about. I'd rather have a nice Collector's Edition than a barebones release in generic packaging

First Deadly Sin
When Time Ran Out
Endangered Species
Xtro
Razorback
Dream Lover
My Demon Lover

To be honest, I'm not convinced Scream Factory would be interested in all of these (When Time Ran Out seems more like a Warner Archive title), and at best I'd say only Xtro and Razorback might get the CE treatment. I'd love to see First Deadly Sin, though again that's probably more likely to come from Warner Archive (if anyone).
The First Deadly Sin, Endangered Species, and When Time Ran out I see being WA titles or perhaps Shout Select.

I can definitely see Dream Lover, My Demon Lover, and Xtro under the Scream line. Xtro has been speculated to be with Scream for a while, but there might be issues with Warner only having elements for the shorter US cut and not allowing them to use the other longer cuts (Shout's Captain Kronos had to use Paramount's HD transfer of the US theatrical as Paramount wouldn't allow them to use Hammer's HD master of the longer cut).

I think Shout were offered Razorback at one point, but declined due to A: Umbrella's Remastered BD being fully loaded with a 4k scan and widely available cheap. B: Warner having a 35mm IP of the theatrical cut and a 2k of that would be inferior to Umbrella's 4k IP scan. C: No film elements for the uncut version or inserts existing (though Russell Mulcahy mentioned rumors of the uncut OCN being sent to Toho-Towa and Jap subbed 35mm prints might be out there in the hands of collectors and a film lab).

I was hoping for Army of Darkness on 4K for October. Strange there hasn't been any updates on this title since they announced it last year.
