Cliff has said before that his dream film to do would be HALLOWEEN. If it was truly up for grabs, I have faith that Cliff would pursue it.

I will gladly double dip on this one if Scream/Shout releases a special edition!

After pulling back on all their other previously announced extras....there was supposed to be more than that. I think he means to get a Collectors Edition of what AB initially promised would come to fans (deleted scenes, etc..). I'd like that too...

Any "new" Halloween stuff will for ever be missing Dr Loomis.....

Not much point in doing them again in my opinion

As much as I appreciate Scream Factory; I am hopeful Don Mays at Synapse Films can properly apply his acquired Halloween out-takes to a disc at some point.

That's exactly what I meant. Also, hopefully better video and audio, as the AB release left quite a bit to be desired.

So what. Scream Factory have already released Halloween 2 and 3 and Halloween 2 had a previous Blu ray release. Having them release more would be awesome.

Think how amazing it would be if Scream released Halloween 1,4 & 5. Its the 35th Anniversary of Halloween this year, so its perfect timing for a re-release.

Well, it might be 'awesome', but your wish has no basis in reality. Anchor Bay barely releases anything anymore, and when they do it's their flagship tentpole titles like Evil Dead and, yes, Halloween 4. Why would they license it out to to Scream, especially after just releasing their own BD SE with much hoopla on their part 8 months ago. In the case of Halloween II, Scream were already in negotiations when Universal released their edition, so the two situations don't compare. In any case, other than doing a new retrospective doc, what more could Scream add to the current release, which already has two commentaries? They would have neither the excess funds or the inclination to do a new 4k transfer. The writer of Halloween 4 is already on record as stating that the deleted scenes don't exist and that their inclusion in the preliminary list of extras was a typo, so those would be out too. So, what are you left with? A redundant re-release that Anchor Bay would never give up coming only eight months on the heels of their own first BD release. 'Awesome' or not, it's not happening, and the reasons why are extensive and obvious. Let's try to focus on films that, A, have no BD release at all, much less a recent and/or reasonably inclusive one and, B, Scream might ever conceivably get the rights to.

Hopefully, they will be doing a new transfer for NIGHT OF THE COMET. It looks horrible on MGM HD. I caught it a while back and it just looked DNR-EY and really just plain bad.

I know what you mean, I watched Comet on Netflix about a month ago after selling my dvd when Scream announced it. The black levels were way off. The night scenes are bad, but the ones in the bunker underground are terrible. I hope to god they do something with it.

I can't see why they wouldn't do a new transfer they have with all of their other Collector's Editions pretty much. Assuming Mgm HD used the same transfer as the one on Netflix, that issue on Black levels is the single thing that just ruins it.

I wouldn't worry if I were you, I think they know what they're doing. And they're going to blow us out of the water with pretty much anything and everything they offer up.

Anchor Bay are useless now and IMO deserve to have certain movies taken off them. They took forever to get around to releasing the remaining Halloween movies on Blu ray. As for what's left with a re-release of Halloween 4, well for me the custom artwork would be enough for me to re buy it. As for Halloween 2, I had no idea Scream where in negotiations with it when Universal released it.

As for focusing on movies that have no BD release... What, movies like Halloween 2, The Fog and Day of the Dead you mean? .

I wholeheartedly agree with that sentiment, but in the specific case of Halloween 4 and 5 there is zero chance of that happening.

When it was initially rumored as a Scream title, Day of the Dead no longer appeared on Anchor Bay's website and the disc had gone out of print. Halloween 4 is still on AB's site and is very much in print. The Fog didn't have a US BD release, and it is an MGM title, a company everyone knew Scream had made a deal with. Halloween II was a bit of a surprise at the time, as the Universal disc was barely a year old, but it retrospect, once it was revealed (or correctly speculated when They Live and Funhouse were announced) that Scream had made a deal with Universal, its selection made complete sense. In terms of relationship history, rights, and/or discontinuations of previously released discs, Halloween 4 and 5 do not fall into any potential checklist categories of speculation.

Technically, "The Fog" never had a domestic release on Blu-Ray in the US.

also, I agree. I think there is nothing wrong with re-releasing on BD.
Like "The Thing", its been on BD but I think it needs a new release, preferably from Shout Factory, theres also many others that are with Universal and Mgm, as well as Fox that deserve more attention on Blu. And they have made deals with all of those companies.

I know there was probably zero change, but I didn't stop me wishing and sharing that.

As for those movies I mentioned, I was just making a point that there's been movies that have already had Blu ray releases that Scream are re-releasing. As for The Fog not having a US release, thats correct, but the Australian Blu ray is region A & B.

Day of the Dead was my biggest surprise when they announced it, as its already had really great Blu ray releases in US, UK (amazing Arrow release) and Australia. Still though, I'm glad Scream are releasing it with a new transfer etc and I'm sure the artwork will be amazing.

I really hope they get the rights to Dawn of the Dead and even Night of the Living Dead.

The latter would be phenomenal. I have the Happinet release of NotLD, but a widescreen transfer and even more special features would always be welcome.

Import the region-free Happinet release of NotLD from CD Japan, it's $17 shipped and has an excellent transfer with a high bitrate, 2 commentary tracks, and the full-length 'One for the Fire' doc in 1080p. It is slightly cropped, but is easily the best-looking version out there and, with no rumor of any legit US release from any company on the horizon, well worth the $17.

Do you talk about the original Night of the Living Dead? If it indeed the case a widescreen transfer would be an error from the start as this film was made in a 1:33.1 ratio...

Thanks for the info, but I own the Australian Umbrella Blu ray of NOTLD and am happy with that. It's lacking on those special features, but I'm not worried, as I'm not a massive fan of the movie.

Do you think Scream could get the rights to Dawn of the Dead?
