I'm surprised Dead Space is still in stock, so I went ahead and ordered it.

Huge sucker for sci-fi horror and still mad I missed out on the Terror Within double feature.

So Whispers in the Dark and The Temp along with Liar Liar for the Shout Select line were officially announced today via the Shout Factory website but not Cool World. I wonder if something happened, they're doing a staggered announcement schedule, or what's going on?

There's a few other titles that leaked out that haven't been added to the site yet. Besides Cool World, there's also:

Trekkies
The Message UHD
Lion of the Desert UHD

It's possible they are staggering them.

Halloween UHDs are $23.30 each from Barnes and Noble with TAKE10 code:

https://www.barnesandnoble.com/b/30-...N-2w61Z1z141sz

Halloween 3 is OOS right now but possibly could return before the discount expires.

Kinda hijacking this comment to ask about Shout!’s stereo mixes. I know Liar Liar was originally released in stereo. Many Shout Select titles (most?) include a 2.0 track. Are these fold downs from 5.1 or the original stereo mixes? Is it a mix of both? Just curious.

Most of Shout's releases include the original stereo mixes if they're available. I usually play the stereo mixes for most of their releases because the 5.1 mixes often sound like they were created from the stereo track and not from the source. I've noticed that on releases where a 5.1 mix didn't exist before Shout's release (as well as on releases from other labels) that the sound often bleeds into the left and right front speakers with very minimal surround activity, whereas the original stereo and mono mixes expand to the correct speakers naturally with the Pro Logic II setting on my receiver, which is how they are designed to act. But if a title had a DVD release before and that DVD release had a 5.1 mix, then the 5.1 track usually sounds a bit more natural when it's included on the Shout Blu-ray. Having said that, the 5.1 track on Liar Liar's release should sound like it has been properly mixed because it's been available since the original DVD.

EDIT: Killer Party is FANTASTIC. This was exactly the kind of movie I've wanted Vinegar Syndrome to release with all their obscure catalog choices each month and is just the sort of gem film that keeps me going back for more with each and every release as I hope to find more films like it. I went into my viewing knowing nothing but the cover art as I had watched the trailer months ago and had completely forgotten everything shown and so this was truly a blind watch. It is easily going to be a regular staple in my yearly movie watching moving forward as it was just good old light hearted fun that is exactly the kind of thing you think of when you think 80's horror.

For those that haven't seen it, or may be on the fence, I'd describe it as a mash-up of Slumber Party Massacre/Sorority House Massacre, Night of the Demons, with a pinch of Beyond the Door thrown in for good measure. It's a shame about most of the effects shots being cut out, but the film is still very VERY enjoyable even in it's current state (I believe I read that this film was butchered before release and the gore shots were never seen) I feel like if this film was more well known and appreciated that a bigger effort to locate said trims may have occurred and we may have gotten an uncut edition, but again, even with this theatrical edition of the film in it's relatively tame form, the opening 10 minutes and the entire final act totally make up for it. Speaking of that 3rd act... without spoiling the fun, the film plays out as one type of subgenre before totally switching gears and going off the rails in the 3rd act in what is a surprisingly creepy performance despite the campy fun that proceeds it.

Killer Party is the perfect film to watch on Halloween. It takes place during April Fools day officially, but it's clear that the intent was to make a Halloween film. If you picked this up and haven't watched it yet, I highly recommend giving it a watch today. This was the most fun I've had in a long time with a film and comes very highly recommended from me. In a weekend where I've watched Halloween Kills, Paranormal Activity: Next of Kin, and around 200 other films thus far this year, Killer Party stands as my favorite of everything I've seen.
I blind bought this, Alone in the Dark and The Fan to cram in before the 31st (frustratingly, none were in the Shocktober sale) and this was hands down the best purchase. It played out so differently than I expected it to and I was entertained the entire time. An absolute blast!

Alone in the Dark was fun as well, but a bit odd overall.

The Fan was... well some great acting.

My sale order arrived today as well. I got Pumpkinhead (steelbook), RoboCop 2, The Lawnmower Man and Dawn of the Dead. To my surprise Dawn of the Dead had a slipcover.

It's been exactly a week today since I ordered from Shocktober, and it's still listed as pending and not shipped.

Is this a normal practice with SHOUT?

I didn't get my Shocktober 2020 order until right around Christmas last year. I think some waited until January 2021.

Ordering from Shout takes patience.

Most of the labels, no matter how good or bad their customer service usually is, struggle to get their fulfillment timeframes anywhere close to "normal" in the aftermath of a sale, especially regular or semi-regular sales. Expect 4 - 12 weeks; hope for 1 - 4. Anything less is gravy.

Criterion's flash sales and Kino's sales always manage to get to me pretty quickly. Anyone else I can hang up a quick delivery for.

I don't think either of those labels actually does order fulfillment.. stuff comes from a warehouse.
