Day 1 pick up for me of Hallowwen II, maybe III too....

Also I second the suggestion of the Sleepaway Camp Series... I'd buy all 3 on the 1st day too!

I don't know about anyone else, but I'd love to see Scream Factory tackle Psycho II on blu-ray.

Oh yes, most definitely, but not just Psycho II.... Psycho III and Psycho IV: The Beginning as well. All four Anthony Perkins Psycho films were tops in my opinion.

The 1998 remake and the 1987 TV movie Bates Motel I'd like to pretend never existed. yuck.

Just be sure they make it "UNCUT" like the original VHS. The DVD has tons of naked asses...but my god, they can't show dead bodies!

Also who has the rights to The Stuff and The Nest?

Image Entertainment just re-released "The Stuff" a few months ago on DVD. A real shame that in addition to that they also re-released both "House" movies but opted not to give them the Blu-ray treatment. Although, I thought "The Stuff" looked excellent upconverted. "The Nest" is still being sold on DVD through Corman's New Horizon Storefront on Amazon as far as I know. I feel like that title was requested quite a few times early on during Shout!'s Corman line but I think that title wasn't up for grabs or it wasn't one they were looking at. Then again, Cliff had stated at one point that the "Nurse" films weren't part of the line up and just recently they made there way onto it so never say never.

Let's talk about what could potentially be a huge move for Scream Factory, and if they haven't already tried contacting Paramount about this, they need to, ASAP:

It has been confirmed as of a couple of days ago that the Friday the 13th films, entries IV-VIII under Paramount's ownership, will NOT be released any time soon. The reasons stated were because they didn't feel they'd make enough money to really warrant releasing them... due to a lack of interest and piracy, no less. The only way they said they would release them, is if enough interest would make it feasible... meaning if Warner Bros. makes a new Friday the 13th film, which also isn't looking too likely for the time being.

If that's the case, Scream Factory should reaaaaaaaally be seeing if they can't take over distribution rights on Blu-ray for Friday IV-VIII. If Scream Factory is willing to do horror fans right by releasing stuff like Halloween III, I see no reason why they shouldn't, at the very least, seriously call up Paramount ASAP and see if they can't make this happen. Lots of people have been screwed, buying I-III on Blu, only to hear Paramount wont' go any further, yet they'll continue to push out their remastered deluxe editions on DVD in crappy cardboard packaged boxes.

This is a great idea. The piracy thing is absolutely crazy excuse. It didn't stop them from releasing ANOTHER DVD BOX SET last year, which made no sense in this day and age. Why would they re-release the films on DVD again, and not on Blu?

I think Scream Factory would be our only chance of getting good releases for these films.

The uncut version compared to the cut is a bit disappointing when you watch it though cause there isn't much difference. Even the scene where they cut the snake coming out of the mouth, is just missing the second look at it when the snake comes out. IIRC you still see the snake initially on the DVD.

Don't get me wrong, I'd still rather have it uncut on Blu-Ray.

Paramount's not giving 'em up. Shout Factory would have to throw an obscene amount of money (which they don't have) at Paramount to even have a chance. Not to mention, but I think the laws of nature dictate that a new F13 movie has to be made in the next year or so.

While I tend to agree for the most part but Cliff has even mentioned it's not really about the size of Shout!'s wallet that makes or breaks a deal, it's more about whether certain studios are willing to give up the goods. In Paramount's case, it seems unlikely but then again Universal gave up the first 2 sequels to a franchise that still had John Carpenter playing a very active role in them. If Paramount would have squeezed Part 4 out on Blu-ray, thereby wrapping up what many fans would consider "classic Friday the 13th", I would think there grip on parts 5-8 would loosen up if they felt the titles weren't bringing in as much money as they had hoped anymore.

If Paramount still wants to hold onto the films and Scream Factory's line sells as well as we're all predicting, they maybe someone in Paramount will come to there senses and realize there sitting on something worthwhile. Although, I can't imagine Paramount giving better treatments to the later sequels of the franchise than Scream Factory could. The fact that Paramount is putting "Pet Sematary" out in the fall gives me the smallest hope that they haven't completely abandoned these films. But, at the end of the day, I'd much rather see them end up with Scream Factory any day.

It's not unprecedented that Universal would license Halloween 2 and 3 to another studio. Good Times Video held a license for cheap EP or LP VHS releases in the 90's and then released the initial DVDs of each in May 2001.

Ypui know Cliff, I was thinking of something; I popped in my Halloween II 30th AE and noted that the disc's menu was the opening from the film without the credits. It got me thinking, have you ever asked Universal if they have a credit-less version of the opening?

I notice that Shout's TV-DVD dept. has released a lot of Sony's television shows that Sony had slacked off on... how about their film dept that is being ignored and licensed out to Twilight Time (if I'm going to pay Criterion prices, I want Criterion product). There's a lot of goodies there that I know Shout would do justice to.

The situation at MGM is pretty simple. MGM continues to exist and control a library of titles. Sony was the first to pick up MGM home video distribution (which I suspect was in order to own a stake in James Bond), which they did for roughly a year in 2005-2006. From then on, Fox took over distribution for MGM and still do it today.

I don't know about anyone else, but I would personally love to see a proper Blu-Ray release of the original House on Haunted Hill!
