They wanted to use the best consistent-quality version on the format. I guess they could include a second 4K version with the entire film at a lower quality to match those bits, but if they had to choose only one... I'd go with the better looking version and leave the other cut on Blu-ray.

Considering Candyman has both cuts there’s no reason they couldn’t include both cuts here even if the extra scenes are lower quality.

It would probably be a lot of work to perfectly splice it all together too. I guess we'll see if Arrow does that.

Candyman's footage probably came from better source materials. Plus Arrow handled all of that.

Shout's made dumb decisions before, but if they didn't think a interpositive-source was going to look as good on 4K then why would they bother. People are going to complain either way, from the lack of its inclusion (the reality) or that it doesn't look as good as the theatrical 4K.

The directors cut disc is also a 4k scan of the inter positive so they could’ve easily put that on the 4k disc of doing inserts was too much work.

True. If I remember correctly VS Beastmaster UHD is from a 4K IP scan.

In for The Craft and that's it for now. As far as upgrades really just waiting on The Fog 4K. I have the UK one but hoping for improvement.

Also bring on Night of the Comet 4K.

I've been waiting for a Femme Fatale blu release for a looooooong time, so this is great news. EFNY will also be a for sure purchase, as the blu leaves a lot to be desired. They can keep The Craft, as my blu is fine and Lifeforce 4K is a pass also. The steel is more than fine. Ghost is a nice surprise too. May is going to be an expensive month from Scream. Frankly, I am tempted to buy direct from them, as they seem to be back shipping stuff 2 weeks early again, no???

Wouldn't it make more sense to pre-order, but wait to open it until reviews? That way if it's bad, then can return or sell it, but if it's not, they can have it immediately.

Nothing to be confused about. No fan of LIFEFORCE would buy a 4K release of the butchered theatrical cut with no 4K of the real film. One of the worst decisions Shout has ever made. This will sell like asbestos.
