Shout! Factory Launches New 24/7 Horror Channel, Scream Factory TV [EXCLUSIVE]
https://screenrant.com/horror-channe...am-factory-tv/

Quote:
Shout! Factory is launching Scream Factory TV on April 15th, a new 24/7 TV channel based on its horror sub-brand, Screen Rant can exclusively announce. Scream Factory launched in 2012 and has since become one of the most esteemed and well-respected authorities in horror and sci-fi cult classics, in addition to bringing new movies and original productions to a wide audience.

Shout! Factory made its mark by releasing and reviving beloved cult films and classic TV series for the home market. Launching back in 2002 as Retropolis Entertainment, the company focused on releasing feature films, classic and contemporary television series, animation, live music, sports and comedy specials on VHS (and eventually DVD, Blu-ray and digital), many of which were previously unavailable. Moving the same business model into the horror genre, Scream Factory has given the deluxe Collector’s Edition treatment to such favorites as The Thing, Escape From New York, Carrie and Nightbreed, released the indie phenomenon The Babadook, and taken on original productions and theatrical releases such as Fender Bender, Bite and Bloodsucking Bastards.

Scream Factory TV will be home to a variety of uncensored fan-favorite horror, thriller and sci-fi films from the past, in addition to hosting special events and curated marathons. The launch of the 24 hour TV channel will feature such horror classics as Bad Moon, Black Christmas, Carnival Of Souls, The Cat O' Nine Tails, Chopping Mall, Class Of 1984, Communion, The Company Of Wolves, The Crush, Dark Star, Day Of The Dead, The Exorcist III, Forbidden World, Galaxy Of Terror, House On Haunted Hill, Humanoids From The Deep, The Last Man On Earth, Magic, Night Of The Demons, Night Of The Living Dead, Nightbreed: Director's Cut, Nosferatu, Piranha (1978), Silent Night, Deadly Night: Part 2, Sleepaway Camp, The Slumber Party Massacre, The Stepfather, Willard, Witchboard, and Witchery.

I called it! Knew it was not going to be a movie since they rarely do hints like that. Thing is so far it seems like they will have all the same stuff Tubi and others have.

It should be better than Tubi as the digital versions used will now be coming from whatever materials Scream Factory had access to for the Blu Rays. Shout Factory has had it's own channel for a long time and so this will likely prove to be more focused in what it shows.

Many years ago Scream Factory did Valentines day marathons and such of some of the films that they had recently licensed and I commended them on facebook about how much I appreciated it as it was overall very well done. I would imagine this will follow that same format. I expect anything Corman related that fits under the Scream Factory umbrella will now have a place to go as will all those other films they have digital rights for. This should give folks a chance to watch some of the films before making a purchase if they are on the fence.

Most exciting perhaps is the possibility that said channel may provide a glimpse into what the future holds in regards to Blu Ray releases. Years ago the El Rey network was an excellent barometer into what was coming down the pipeline as they would every so often run films out of the blue that previously had never been shown in HD and didn't (at the time) have Blu Rays... I was able to successfully predict a number of films coming to blu ray as a result of those airings. The channel will be worth keeping an eye on for that reason alone.

I'm a cable subscriber, and already have access to more content than what I know what to do with, but I do enjoy PlutoTV and it's Cable like structure and will often flip over to see what is streaming on those channels when nothing else is on... hopefully this channel is added to the PlutoTV lineup along side the already present Shout Factory TV channel so that I can just pop over to see whats playing anytime without needing to download another app.

If you like other regional, esoteric 70s genre fare, you'll probably find something to like in MM. Wouldn't quite call it a straight-up slasher movie like the ones in the 80s, but it's on that continuum. It's pretty bizarre and won't appeal to a mass audience, so they were right to limit this release like they did, I'd say.

So it’s kinda like a proto-slasher? if it has those leanings i’ll probably pick it up, it’s just all the reviews I’ve read say that the title/cover are misleading so I didn’t know what to actually expect

Probably the only option for you (besides knowing someone in the US) is a mail forwarding service. I've been hearing people in the UK mention stackry a lot lately:

It's misleading in that there are no meatcleaver massacres for sure. I say it's a proto-slasher because it has the same basic goals of inviting the audience to watch some people die horribly. There's a supernatural/occult bent to it that keeps it from being like the movies most people think of when they envision pure, straight-up slashers involving masked maniacs and butcher knives. It's a really fascinating movie, and it's a real gamble when it comes to stuff like this, especially when it carries a premium price tag. But if you like stuff like, say, The Severed Arm, Keep My Grave Open, Don't Look in the Basement, etc., then I think there's something to like here.

It's not a television channel in that sense. If it's like Shout Factory TV, or Tubi, you can watch movies through a browser, an app, or through a streaming device like Roku.

Mostly it has to do with the rights being involved in massive legal dispute. This is why the M. Night Shyamalan's reboot was announced to premier on TNT in the Fall of 2017, but was canceled before a single script was filmed. It's not the rights to the comic books themselves, but the character of the Cryptkeeper
