Same, that has to be one of my favorite guilty pleasure movies. Everything from the ludicrous 50's Sci-Fi on hormones plot to them straight up reusing the Godzilla roar for the alien. It's glorious.

I bet every single collectors edition will soon be a 4K. They will sell again as there’s new horror fans and they missed out on those slips and they will bite and fans will upgrade to 4K. I will gladly rebuy all of them in 4K.

I love most of the films you listed, but out of them I think the ones that would benefit the most of an upgrade are The Burning and Ginger Snaps. Those two had dated masters and the latter, was especially bad compression wise.

At some point I have to stop rebuying the same movies over & over again on different formats so the vast majority of 4K upgrades are a no go for me. If it’s something newly released like Alligator that’s different but I’m not 4K double dipping unless it’s an absolute favorite.

I'm not invested in 4K like some collector's are, the upgrade is minimal in my opinion. I'll only purchase a 4K if it's an absolute favorite film that gets multiple repeat viewings or if it's a film that i can only purchase on 4K. Blu-ray is a format that didn't need an upgrade and not every film needs to be on 4K.

I will say if Scream sells Dolls, Night Of The Demons, Pumpkinhead, The Fog, Carrie, Day Of The Dead or Land Of The Dead 4K I will double dip. And I get it, I used to think it was a worthless upgrade too, but after seeing some of the differences, some are worth it. I used to have a friend who used to ask me why I upgraded to Blu ray from DVD. He didn't understand why I would re buy the Scream Factory blu rays when tons had already been on DVD. He said that it was a minor upgrade and DVD looked just fine. So the same debate is going on now with 4K.

I don’t even have that nice of a tv/setup and I still notice a big difference in 4k. it’s okay to be in denial but I hope naysayers who say that it’s a minor upgrade know that they sound the exact same as people who didn’t wanna upgrade to blu ray from dvd

HDR is the main thing I notice, but even then it rarely sticks out to me once I get caught up into the plot of the actual movie. Most DVDs look ugly enough to be distracting, Blu-rays still look good as long as they use a good transfer. 4Ks have the benefit of getting brand new transfers, so of course many of them are going to blow the old 2K BD scans out of the water.
I can barely afford to keep up with new releases for movies I don't have, I don't have it in me to double dip on everything I already own. Plus I have bad luck with 4K discs. |

Using the exact same master on a dvd vs a blu ray results in a pretty similar look imo. People are just seeing that with blu to 4ks that use the same master. I didn't find it worth the upgrade to 4k until I got a nice 4k oled tv. Now I totally think it's worth it.

"DVD to Blu-ray was a huge upgrade, Blu-ray to 4K is minimal." This makes me chuckle a bit because I remember people saying, "VHS to DVD was a huge upgrade, DVD to Blu-ray is minimal." I can't really say either position is wrong since it's such a matter of opinion (and depends a lot on the tech you have at home), but some people definitely find the upgrade from Blu-ray to 4k worth every penny.
I've upgraded to a 4k TV and player recently and it's pretty spiffy. Several movies have looked just incredible. But I still get new DVDs from the library every now and then, and a well-done DVD looks pretty darn good too. It's more about the transfer, really, and there are plenty of Scream titles that could use new transfers. That said, I'm definitely not going to be upgrading everything. I fell in love with some of these movies on VHS or pretty lousy DVDs, and while sometimes it's worth it to get a 4k with a great remaster, sometimes a dated Blu-ray is good enough for me. I'm glad to see anything get a nice upgrade though, because that means that somewhere there's a really nice copy of the film being archived for future generations. |

I'm not necessarily going to buy every upgrade that comes out, but I'm a big believer that every movie should be available in the best possible quality. Ideally every movie ever would get released on 4K UHD. The only reason you wouldn't want this is because you're have FOMO about a better quality version. Which is pretty selfish. I don't want to spend the money to upgrade everything either, but I'm not going to pretend like 4K isn't an upgrade out of jealously or inability to get them.

I’ve been trying to upgrade as many titles as I can to 4k, especially when it’s a lavish edition, because I feel like the format is home videos final hooray unfortunately and I’d like to own the definitive version for the future
