Indeed. If Shout! Factory starts considering the possibility of demand for a product, they're more likely to verify if they can secure the rights to said product and a decent transfer of said title(s) and move forward from there. So if you really want a Beastmaster Trilogy Blu-Ray box set, ask Shout! Factory for it.

They already have it, but they are releasing it on DVD only, and it will be a full frame transfer, not widescreen.

SciFi Movie Marathon (America 3000, Arena, Eliminators & The Time Guardians)
Thanks zbinks that's awesome. Shame not blu but arena and Eliminators on DVD is better than the bootleg copies I've got.

Is the scifi marathon DVD going to be released under the shout! Or scream factory label? I'm actually really looking forward to it--I probably wouldn't buy the movies individually on blu, but all four together is too much to pass up.

I talk to him every once in a while, he doesnt like the negativity.

He says when its good its great, but when its bad its really bad. He cant take the negative comments because he puts so much work into the releases.

I can understand...unfortunately there is no such thing as a perfect diamond. Everything in life will have it's detractors. Best to just stay true to your vision, and hope for the best. I'd say Scream has done just that.

Agreed. He shouldn't let the vocal minority that spews negativity get to him. Scream Factory is doing a fantastic service for horror fans, and their releases have been topnotch.

You know, it's funny; some of these releases with the MGM deal, I knew about some of them thanks to Mike Matei from Cinemassacre, he reviewed some of them. So far he reviewed:
I Come in Peace
Message from Space
Arena

That's all that comes to mind but yeah. And I'm just surprised it's three in one blow.

You know what angers me to no end? Those people that go on Facebook or this thread and complain that Scream is not releasing enough titles that haven't had any DVD release. Roughly 1/3 of their catalog consists of titles that haven't been on DVD before them.
The releases of TerrorVision/Video Dead, Evictors/Town That Dreaded Sundown, and Schizoid/Hospital Massacre come to mind.

I'm mostly surprised it took this long to release Prison on DVD considering MGM had a chance to ride on the Return of the King train.

Close but unrelated connection:
I was on Impact on Demand (MGM's Free Movies page for Comcast) and in a new folder called Probe This, I saw From Beyond. Yeah, its cool and I'll check it out, but does it really fit with the title? Are there alien invaders involved? I could have sworn it was about multidimensional beings... I just thought that it was strange being up there with Species.

I did ask them on Facebook and they said they weren't sure at the moment.

Go to Videoscreams.com for their catalog...
Sinister Cinema has sword and sandal but they are more classic than contemporary

Sinister Cinema does have some good quality prints..as does Video Screams. Sinister has either 16 or 35MM that they work with.
Video Screams rate the PQ I think.
Dont expect digitally remastered however. Some of their transfers are better than Alpha Video that I can tell you

I can understand that, but like anything, you're always going to get the bad with the good, thats just life. People always have an opinion and will speak there minds. He's gotta take criticism just as good as he takes all the great comments and feedback.

It is one thing if the negative comments were simply insults or curses; it is another when people bring up specific points and offer alternative ideas/solutions that could be implemented. Cliff can either take it with a grain of salt and ponder the feedback, or ignore the fanbase and just do what he does regardless. If we didn't care, we wouldn't criticize, nor would we credit the things we love.

It seems that the majority of complaints revolve around the artwork, as the discs and what is on them are all around top notch. People may complain as far as what movies are put out and which ones aren't, but I think most of us understand that it may have a lot to do with potential sales and the price to property rights.

I haven't read all of this thread, as I'm fairly new to this forum, but what's the complaint with the artwork? I really like the art for Scream's releases, personally, and they all usually include an alternate art on the opposite side, don't they?

There's very little interaction with top people associated with home video labels these days on internet forums. I'd like to think it's mostly because they're hard at work researching and preparing DVD and Blu-ray releases for sale. One thing about the horror community, to whom Shout Factory is mainly catering to, is that we're a very vocal bunch and like to discuss the pros and cons of our favorite releases. This may include *****ing about this or that artwork, slipcovers vs. generic cases, etc. To be honest, I enjoy the camaraderie of it all and don't consider it "negativity" at all. For instance, I could care less about the Amityville Horror trilogy - there, I said it. Doesn't mean I despise the company for acquiring it. Actually, I'm thrilled it's coming out for those who want it.

The way I see it, Shout is covering all the bases by expanding into Gothic horror with the Vincent Price Collection. They've done slasher films, drama, lots of (arguably) great cheesy action/exploitation, even a Hammer film - it's ALL good. I'm sure most of us here are very grateful for the company and their efforts and will continue to support them through the years. But I'd also like to keep coming on here and read about what people like or don't like, what they want or don't want - it's fun.
