Anyone know if Screams doing a sale this summer? I believe they cancelled last year and just did October. Want to know how hard I can hit the Kino sale.

Universal's release of III apparently has better compresion:

It's region free.

There's also the French release which looks to be a port of the US release with French subtitles that may be easier to import:

Would it be a good idea to sell the Halloween big box set? Seems we are getting the rest in 4K by Halloween.

Why not? Everything on that set is included and in the 4K sets? You’ll just be keeping the booklet. That set isn’t even done right as it doesn’t include both cuts of zombies films. Yeah they are trash but I bet if shout would release them they include both cuts.

For one it was a huge deal when that box set was announced and released. It's been my prize possession in my collection since then and i have absolutely no desire to part ways with it. Also, i'm not the type of collector that needs every film in my collection on 4K. The only films in the franchise i care to own on 4K are the first three films. The rest of the franchise i'm perfectly happy with on Blu-ray and housed together in the box set.

True and no judge here. I’m just going to part ways with my set as I’m going to upgrade these to 4K. I upgraded 1-5 and waiting for the rest as they will be announced I’m sure coke SDCC and hot for Halloween. Just hope they do right with zombies as I would like to have both cuts for both films and new extras. Like I said they are trash but still I will upgrade to 4K.

I’m in the process of selling all my collectors editions with slips to make way to buy them all over again in 4K.

I wish you nothing but success with that. Collecting can get very exhausting re buying the same films over and over again for decades and on different formats. I'm just at the point with my collecting that most of these films are good enough for me on Blu-ray.

Thank you, I bought ton of dvds, then upgraded to blu and now 4K will be the last physical media format I buy. The eye can see only so much detail and I don't see the format going to 8k. so the road stops here for me.

I still have the box but broke apart the contents when the 4Ks were released. Currently on my shelves are 1-5 on 4K, and the rest of the Blu-rays from the collection. If (and that's a big IF) the rest of the series gets announced I'll be getting rid of the remaining Blu's. Not sure what I'll do with the set itself. Is there still a market for it?

That’s where I’m at too. I’m not rebuying everything I own again on 4K. I’ll get new releases in 4K most of the time & upgrade certain favorites but that’s it. At some point I just have to stop buying the same movies over & over again just because they come out on a newer format so BD is it for the vast majority of my collection. The money I would spend rebuying everything I’d rather spend getting titles I don’t already own. I love my Halloween set so I’d never get rid of it, already have the 1978 original in 4K, maybe I’ll pick up 2 in 4K but have no desire to upgrade any of the others.

I agree 100%. It is exhausting purchasing the exact same titles over and over again. It is also VERY expensive. Some of my favorite movies look stunning on blu-ray, and I’m fine with that. Alien, Close Encounters, Jaws, Poseidon Adventure, The Blob being a few examples, that I have owned on laser, vhs, Betamax, etc..

I refuse to invest a ton of money, to now start a 4K collection all over again. And from what I hear, DVD is still the biggest selling format, I collect blu exclusively.

I purchased a 3D tv, blu-ray player and quite a few titles, only for that to pretty much go extinct. It’s frustrating.

As a person now in my early 50s, I’m done switching formats for now.

The box will be my permanent home for Halloween films. I'll just swap out the BD cases for the UHDs as they are released.

Where did you hear that we're getting the rest of the Halloween films in 4K this year?? Thought it was only a rumor...

Hopefully they create a website exclusive Busta bust to hold the Resurrection 4K. It curses your ass out each time you open it.

They have access to the studio that owns 6,7, and 8, and the writer of 6 said he recorded a commentary for a new release.

There are other titles from the catalogue, though I don't anticipate we'll see many of these.
I would welcome and purchase on Blu-ray any of these! Particularly Cat Girl with Barbara Shelley!

I could be wrong, but there might be a few things not carried over from Halloween 1978 discs. But these could also be found on other releases as well without having to hold onto the big boxset. I haven’t checked the discs themselves but based on the review rundown the 4K edition doesn’t carry over the following.

1. Curtis, Hill & Carpenter Criterion commentary track
2. On Location : 25 years later
3. Pop-Up Trivia Track

The rest of any exclusive content for 6-8 will most likely get carried over if scream does release new versions, as they produced the special features.
