Also as for Tod Browning’s Freaks, the old DVD has finally gone completely OOP. It is no longer being pressed or burned. WB, WHV, and WAC are no longer selling it. And while people used to come out of the woodwork to talk about the search for better elements, including but not limited to on the podcast, we haven’t heard a peep lately from anyone. So whether WAC or Criterion, someone has it, someone’s restoring it, and someone is going to announce it soon. Warner and Criterion don’t announce anything until the entire thing is done and enough copies have been pressed to sustain demand. So give your old DVDs a few more watchings for old time’s sake, because the Blu-ray is coming.

Shout does have a deal with WB, as evidenced by their release of Deadly Friend last fall, but I can’t see Shout actually releasing a 90-year-old movie. I’d be genuinely shocked if anyone other than Criterion or WAC released this.
I'm not much of a Criterion fan compared to most folks but I do agree that they'd likely be the best option to release the film but with that said I could see Arrow doing a wonderful job with it as well.

In regards to my wishlist... truth be told there are very few films that I'd say I need from Scream Factory and really just want someone to release them. Arrow, Vinegar Syndrome, Scream Factory, Warner/Sony/Paramount themselves, each of these have positives and negatives about them... I'm just wanting to see some of these last known Horror holdouts to finally see their HD debuts. (I do think seeing Scream Factory releases the original TCM on 4k would be pretty cool though since they released 2 and 4 and would/will likely give TCMIII a release as well if they could get the ok from Warner. It's neat seeing one label release all the really big horror icons... Michael Myers, Jason Voorhees, Chucky, Leatherface... just need Freddy).

I'll add a title to the wishlist:

A collector's edition of The Faculty, preferably in 4K.

I suspect that Freaks would sell better than any of the Lewton films, on a unit per unit basis, but the restoration needed is likely to be enormous in scope and exceptionally cost-prohibitive. It's going to be WAC or bust, unless one of Criterion's big non-profit film preservation partners, such as The Film Foundation, has stepped in to subsidize the restoration. It's an extremely important film, but it's a film that's likely to lose vast sums of money, when all is said and done.

It certainly would be an expensive restoration, but I think based on pure infamy alone the copies they shifted would be quite reasonable.

I've read in these threads time and time again that Freddy's Nightmares was edited on video, so no hope for an HD blu-ray release.

Don't forget

The stepfather collection
Prom night collection
Mirror mirror collection
Crocodile 1 and 2
Ilsa collection

Hopefull they go back to their early roots release the the movies from vhs hell.
Not much a fan of all these 4k upgrades not that i hate it but so much that still needs to be saved from vhs
Like alligator it's 4k with the blu ray included that's the way to go i think.
If i ever buy a 4k player and 4k tv i don't have to double dip on the movie again.

If I were to rank the labels by the number of personal favorites they've released on physical media, Shout would rank #1. Admittedly I've been unfairly critical of them in the past but, overall, they've been awesome.

I'm hoping to see a good number of new to Blu-ray titles announced at SDCC, though I'll limit my wishlist to studio titles (my ultimate grails would by Night of the Juggler and the Tyburn catalogue, though I suspect there's little chance of the later while Kevin Francis is still with us):

Dragonslayer (Paramount)
Fighting Back (Paramount)
The Penthouse (Paramount)
Unman, Wittering and Zigo (Paramount)
Nightmare on the 13th Floor (Paramount)

The Black Zoo (WB)
Hysteria (WB)
Crescendo (WB)
Night Watch (WB)
Welcome to Arrow Beach (WB)
Craze (WB - I think)
Ultimate Warrior (WB)
It! (WB)
The Pack (WB)
First Deadly Sin (WB)
Don't Go to Sleep (WB)
Midnight Ride (WB)
Surviving the Game (WB)
Nature of the Beast (WB)

The Guardian (HBO/WB)
Blackout (HBO/WB)
Cast a Deadly Spell (HBO/WB)

Hideaway (Sony)
Relentless (Sony)
Ravagers (Sony)
Cold Steel (Sony)
Severed Ties (Sony)
Dead Birds (Sony)

The Dark Secret of Harvest Home (Universal)
Trapped (1989) (Universal)

Enemy Territory (MGM) (still optimistic the clearance issues will be resolved eventually)
Abby (MGM) (especially because I feel Shout are about the only label who could pull this off, given their relations with MGM and WB)

The Stepford Wives (1975) is my holy grail at this point. I know Shout! has tried. The DVD is unwatchable.

I would very much like a box set of that. I think it's a trilogy or quadrilogy?
