So a Scream representative got back to me. They said they didn't hear anything about a panel, but they will have a booth. That's pretty much it. Still, hope we get some sort of announcement.

Shout Factory started out distributing children's DVDs before they launched the Scream Factory line, didn't they? I seem to recall something like that. Or maybe it was CDs. And now they're a behemoth that skips panels at important fan conventions

Not really, they had some kids content but the majority was not although the Shout Kids line was formed before Scream Factory. Shout was formed from by a co-founder and executives of Rhino Entertainment so it's not like they had no experience to bring to the table. But yes, Rhino started in the music business with LPs followed by CDs and eventually got into home entertainment.

Shout Factory was founded in 2003, Scream Factory launched 2012. When Shout started they released a fair amount of CDs, but that dwindled as the CD market trailed off. Still, they probably released about 500 CDs.

The short answer is no. With all the shipping woes going on (and maybe a rare exception) you'll be lucky if you get it a week AFTER street date.

You might recall the Halloween 4k debacle of sorts that saw Best Buy selling them for weeks before direct pre-order customers (like me) got theirs. I don't know if the Halloween thing was an outlier, though. they might be back to the SOP that you reference.

![]() ![]() Grant Murdoch, a down-on-his-luck seaplane pilot played by Byron Sanders, is initially reluctant to fly an alcoholic has-been actress and her personal assistant, played respectively by Rita Morley and Barbara Wilkin, from New York to Provincetown. The three of them should have stayed home. After a storm forces their plane down on a small island, they find themselves at the mercy of a marine biologist who is experimenting with a Nazi research project to develop microorganisms that devour living tissue in mere seconds. The low-budget 1964 sci-fi horror feature, The Flesh Eaters, directed by esteemed voice actor Jack Curtis and scripted by DC Comics writer, Arnold Drake, earns considerable mileage from its cinematography, which makes almost every still frame resemble a comic book panel, complete with exaggerated character expressions at every turn. The end result, one of the earliest entries of the splatter gore genre, was graphically visceral for its time, but still possesses an oddly good-natured aesthetic that even comes across as endearingly quaint in present day. If, like me, you are a fan of the 1982 Stephen King/George A. Romero collaboration, Creepshow, then you will find a lot to enjoy here. I find it difficult to imagine that King was not thinking of this film when he wrote his short story, “The Raft.” Morley's character, who is constantly preoccupied with finding more booze, is the type of person whom most would likely detest in real life, but the spoiled actress diva has a strangely likable presence here, simply because her relentless antics wear down our defenses. Wilkin's character, a Mary to Morley's Ginger, is relatable and charming from the start. The square-jawed Sanders is a quintessential tough lead who is kind-hearted, although he does not suffer nonsense from fools. Kosleck, the most famous lead of the four, was pretty much the face of Nazi Germany for many a moviegoer decades ago, because of his propensity to play German mad scientists and such in multiple pictures, although, bewilderingly, he plays an American agent here, despite his notable accent. Ray Tudor stars as a beatnik wanderer who arrives on the island by raft and goes through some misadventures as he finds out that this is not a “love weapon.” The Flesh Eaters may have a cult following because of its pioneering bloody special effects, but I like it even more as a time capsule relic of cinema that tips a hat both to 1950s monster movies and to youth counterculture just before the hippie era hit. This is a fun little film. This Scream Factory limited edition Blu-ray looks great and includes some engaging supplements, my favorite of which is an interview with Jack Curtis's daughter, Liane Curtis (Girlfriend from Hell). So maybe no information on panel is its own form of drumming up anticipation.. like will they or won't they instead of the usual hype of wishlists and criticism of their release choices? That being said.. anybody have a wishlist or a list they think is most likely to happen?

I may not be a good authority on this, but I feel like there may be individual twitter accounts or sometimes other bluray/high def sites. Most of the time it's just someone that saw a retailer listing leak, which are usually the most accurate. I would kind of think that most of Shout's workers would stick to the preferred method of announcement as it's most advantageous to their business model so they can get deals in order as well as getting the transfer right closest to the actual release date. I guess ymmv but it's still fun to speculate, right?

Given the direction VS has been trending with their 4k releases, I could see them doing a 4k boxset of the first 3 films to match the previous 4 film collection... and if I'm being honest... besides thinking only part 2 is worth a double dip, I'd probably buy it anyways.
