Totally agree, I've never ripped the plastic off and replaced the slipcover so fast before!

Is it normal for orders from Shout!/Scream to come with no estimated delivery date? Even though my package is in Texas now, no estimated date is showing up at all. This has never really happened before with my orders elsewhere.

Something's off with the audio on that Child's Play 2 4K disc. I had to turn the volume all the way up to be able to hear dialogue. Overall, the soundtrack sounds VERY weak. I hope they're not all like that.

The Atmos track? Hopefully the 2.0 is okay.

No, the regular 2.0. I've only got a 2 speaker setup for now.

Well that's disheartening. Looks like I'll be waiting for more feedback on this before I order these.

What about the BD, how does the 2.0 sound on there?

I only sampled the 4K disc for the first sequel. It was too f**king hot and I was too tired to check out the other discs. I know something's wrong because the moment I switched to TV the audio was so loud I actually jumped.

Ah, shit man. Part 2 is my favorite of the OG trilogy.

PQ was great, though. I'll probably just use headphones when I pop the disc in to watch (not anytime soon).

And there's never been a replacement program for this type of issue either AFAIK. I thought SF broke from this issue. Luckily it was caught before release date so maybe that will affect orders and light a fire under SF to fix it.

God please let The Fog and The Funhouse be good.

Before everyone panics, I think the logical thing is to find out if this is truly a widespread issue, orif it's specific to Cinema84's setup. I've inquired in the 4K thread.

This review gave the audio 4 stars:

Chucky returns home with another awesome Dolby Atmos soundtrack that largely remains true to the original design while throwing in a couple of welcomed surprises. And like the first movie, this is a front-heavy presentation, as it should be, keeping the focus on the dialogue and character interactions.

With a few ambient effects subtly bleeding into the top heights, imaging feels broader and more expansive that its DTS-HD predecessor, displaying outstanding separation and balance with excellent clarity of the background activity moving into the off-screen space and lightly above the screen. An impressive mid-range maintains superb distinction during the loudest segments while Graeme Revell's score enjoys exceptional acoustical detailing and fidelity. The surrounds and heights are selectively employed for specific action pieces, and they are quite effective at expanding and widening the soundfield with a few atmospherics understatedly moving overhead. The most memorable moments are during the rainstorm at the beginning with Greg Germann as water pours down from above and the climactic showdown at the assembly line when juicy chunks of Chucky fly overhead and land all around the listening area. The low-end is also a bit more robust and appreciable, providing some weight and presence to the music and action, especially in those final moments inside the Good Guys factory, making this an awesome object-based mix for a cheesy follow-up. (Dolby Atmos Audio Rating: 82/100)
And another

Quote:
Alright, so unlike the Dolby Atmos mix on the first film (not used selectively and solely for scares), this is more intense constantly. The mix pushes the Dolby Stereo source material to the max. Here you will hear the height channels being used persistently and tastefully in choice of a selective manner. The original music (score), sound effects, and such all get thrown to heights for the Atmos. They also get mixed nicely into the rear channels as well as being driven primarily by the front (left & right) channels. Dialogue is primarily what you’ll find the center channel is used for here and it is delivered perfectly, never once requiring me to make any volume adjustments. There’s one very hefty amount of LFE to be felt here via the subwoofer as well as bass in general throughout the mix.

Now, don’t think that just because the height channels are being used so actively in this mix that the scares won’t be impactful. Intact and in fact, the scary moments in this sequel are just as creepy and cool as they were before, in terms of sound, and actually now are even more so in ways here via this new Atmos mix. And, come on here, let’s face it, a sound mix that’s over-the-top is appropriate for a sequel that was as well and I mean that entirely as a compliment.

Most important here in terms of audio, in many ways [not just for this], is the film’s original score by Graeme Revell which serves as a prime example of what the height channels are used for to help add emphasis to this Dolby Atmos mix. Some of the sound effects here that seemed to be used for the height channels and benefit the most (for the Atmos mix) are simple yet attention-grabbing sounds such as a passing train, a car engine, a drill, a sander, car horns, as well as of course explosions and other loud occurrences, such as machinery running.

This time around, for the sequel, it is more of your typical Dolby Atmos sound mix where the height channel speakers are almost constantly being used for sound effects. It’s over-the-top and unapologetic like the film itself and the menacing character of “Chucky” which is all fitting. Lastly, the lossless 2-channel Stereo audio mix is straightforward and sounds very impressive without any issues.

Audio Quality Rating: 4.5 (out of 5)

I agree - no one should panic. It could very well be specific to my equipment. I've got a Denon receiver (purchased new last year) and I'm only using 2.0 at the moment. I haven't encountered an issue similar to this that I can remember. I have a lot of discs, not every one has been tested but, generally, this issue hasn't come up before. Still, it could just be me.
