The thing is I shouldn't have to go to some overseas Country to get something that should be made & sold here in region 1.

It's also too much of a waste of money & time having to go through overseas shipping & customs hassles either when shipping's bad enough to do at some places here. Especially when my BD budget isn't enough to do that.

It takes no more effort and time than ordering something from Amazon's US site - all of your info is already saved on the UK site (and all international Amazon sites), you just have to log in like you would on Amazon in the US, and the layout is identical. It'll take you five seconds to order it.

Considering that shipping isn't that much more, and the discs are often cheaper overseas, you come out to about the same price. And there's no "customs hassles."

I sympathize, my friend. In this case, however, you might want to make an exception. I don't own a region-free player, and the idea of importing stuff sounds like an ordeal, but this transaction was about as pain-free as I can imagine.

I'm in Canada, and I received my copy faster than I usually receive stuff from the States. Plus, it wasn't much more than $20 Cdn. including shipping. As I remember, the amazon.co.uk site even had my shipping/payment information from the .com site already loaded.

Not a mark on the steelbook either (if that's important to you).

Check the list on page 1 that tells the titles he has already denied. It's a really good reference guide.

And, no offence, but you can not get every movie just because you want it really bad. I would love for them to get the remaining 'Halloween' films, but 4 & 5 they are with Anchor Bay. And they do not sub-license, so no, unfortunately. At least not right now. Assuming AB even have the rights to do so.

Hope that helped.

As soon as i heard scream were releasing Halloween 2&3 i bought a region-free player after dithering for awhile. Now i can't imagine not having one.The Burning,The Fog The Howling etc is just too much too miss out on.I payed £25($40 app) for my player and the most (TTaside) i pay for an imported Blu-ray is about the same as id pay for a chart blu-ray here(UK) and many much less. The only downside i can see is the wait, buts thats just my wanting them straightaway and its better than not having them at all.Id honestly advise anyone to just get one, theres not much reason not too imo.

Cliff, how about some 50s / 60s sci-fi horror? I mean titles like The Brain from Planet Arous, The Killer Shrews, The Creature from the Haunted Sea, etc. Any chance of those titles getting the Scream treatment at some point down the line?

Do you know how much it costs to put a movie on blu-ray? In some cases, particularly with Public Domain titles, it can be up to or more than 10xs DVD prices. Dvds are cheap compared to Blu-rays.

Lets leave Public Domain films to someone who is not already spending a ton to get out films that haven't been on dvd, literally, hundreds of times.

I worked for Sony for years and there is so much money that goes into these releases. Stickers, Upc, Shrink Wrap, suitable prints, replication, duplication, covers, editing, slipcovers, remastering, audio restoration, production of special features and making them HD, menu design, layering, etc, etc, etc...

I dont see it happening... Too Bad though.

Definitely don't see how its a waste of money, I can't count how many items I've gotten from amazon UK that were way cheaper then they're north american counter parts. Off the top of my head: spider man trilogy, matrix trilogy, universal monsters box set ( coffin ) actually I was about to order the scream release of vampire lovers from the UK as it was actually cheaper to buy it from amz UK as an import then to buy it from amz.ca until the price just dropped...be a wise shopper my friend, much easier to expand your collection, lighter on the wallet too.

Yeah, its definitely worth having a region free player, I picked up my Seiki bd660 for $50 at Walmart and I love it, it opens up a whole other world in Blu .

I don't use credit cards or PayPal and not even the pre-paid cards because they are just as much trouble as the other two. Just cash or U.S. money orders if I know the person I am buying from has a great reputation with MO's.

Yup. Fortunately you're doing marvelous work with what you have acquired.

The Lionsgate hold up is too bad because of MST3K, too. I believe eight of the episodes are for films they have current rights to.

Just to be sure, is Sony is among the companies who refuse to sub-license or there might be a chance?

I love being region free. If you're a serious movie collector, then a region free player is essential.
