While not confirmed yet, it looks like Kino got a deal with Lionsgate. If Lionsgate is willing to play ball, maybe Shout can finally get a deal in with them. A lot of horror properties there.

Given how things occurred with StudioCanal, I wouldn't be surprised if multiple labels have got in on the action. Indeed, it's quite possible Shout already have a deal in place (you'll recall it was Kino who first announced a deal with SC, but Shout had already secured a number of their key horror properties).

My money's on Arrow having a deal with them at least.

That could be the case, and a lot of possibilities. Thankfully we already got Extreme Prejudice or I'd be bugging everyone about that. I think the one I most want to see is Shadow of the Vampire. We could also get the first Watchers film from Shout now if they get a deal in.

.
This is bothering me, but I thought Kino was first to get a deal with SC before Shout because they released a lot of the key horror SC titles that Shout would have probably released? Link was pretty major as was Deep Star Six.

When Kino first announced the deal, they said another label had made a deal for StudioCanal's 'prestige' horror titles (or something to that effect). Like you, I'm surprised Scream seemingly passed on the likes of Deep Star Six and Link (and went for say The Final Programme), but similarly, I can't think Kino would have passed on all those great titles SF released.

Hold up... is that why we still haven't seen UHDs of Peeping Tom and Near Dark?

Pretty sure the former would be with Criterion, and the latter may not be with StudioCanal in the US any more (or else someone like Criterion could be sitting on it?)

I imagine SF have probably released any StudioCanal titles they have by this point.

Here's the exact quote, I was mistaken somewhat:

I suppose something similar could have also happened this time round?

Yeah, that's what I remember reading. I thought they were the ones who got in first and then everyone jumped in after. So it sounds like the deal Arrow got is with Lionsgate, but it's still possible it's also Paramount. I just Shout also gets in for some of the Lionsgate titles as well. Criterion just released Eve's Bayou, so it sounds like things at Lionsgate might have finally changed.

I believe Lionsgate licencing to Criterion is not new, though these may have been special arrangements, at the behest of the directors or such. But if Lionsgate really have opened the doors, yeah, that would be huge.

I watched it back in 2002 and didn’t care for it at all.

I didn't bother getting the Shout disc because there's reportedly a 4K from SC in the horizon. It's a great movie, though, one of my favorites. It's extremely entertaining. The only complaints I've read are that the Shout disc is not a remaster and that the subtitles are dumbed down or something.

Oh wow, is that the case? I remember back in the early 2000's when it was released, there were two different subtitle tracks floating around on different releases, and one was dsfinitely inferior - it sucked all the subtlety and wit out of the dialogue. The 3 disc SE dvd that was released here in Canada had the better track, and a ton of extras. It never occurred to me that that lousy sub track would reappear this long after the fact. That's a bummer. I skipped on the blu ray from Scream for a few reasons - it didn't add any new supplements, and the A/V quality was reportedly not that impressive. Despite those issues, I was prepared to upgrade in an instant if they had included the 2 French commentary tracks from the dvd and had finally provided English subtitles for them. But alas, they did not (I've been waiting 20 years to listen to those tracks!)

Meant to ask this for the sale but didn’t have funds for an additional order, but do the Universal and Naschy sets look to have guaranteed slips?

The Universal sets always come with the side slips. I emailed them a while back to ask and they confirmed that. Haven't asked about the Naschy sets though...

I ordered both Naschy sets from Shouts recent Shocktober sale and they came with the side loader slips.

What about the Thunderbirds side loading slip case? Does it still ship with it?
