Shout customer service was very nice to me the last couple times. In September they replaced a broken case for me (Universal Horror collection) and this month, when I inquired about my 9/29 order, they were very polite and noted that one of my items was unexpectedly backordered and that they've notified their warehouse to expedite the backorder. That being said, your situation might be a bit different. Either way I hope you were able to sort out your issue. --- In a somewhat unrelated note, I caught myself typing "Wherehouse" and now I'm a little sad. Wherehouse and Tower Records got me into deep cut movies and music. |

After watching American Movie last week, I was thinking how we are still missing King of Kongs on Blu-ray. It's my personal favorite documentary and maybe Shout would be able to get this from WB for Blu-ray. Fantastic film.

That’s like saying what was the point of them putting out a 4K of the original film when it already had one from a few years back. |

![]() ![]() Amy, played by Elizabeth Berridge, takes a break from her overprotective parents and her annoying little brother by going on a double date with friends to a traveling carnival that has set up shop in her hometown. During this rambunctious evening, after these four teenagers smoke marijuana and marvel at the tent attractions, they decide to spend the entire night in the carnival funhouse by discreetly stepping off of the ride carts before the doors are locked. Unfortunately for them, this funhouse is no ordinary funhouse. It is a people-getting-killed-in-ghastly-diabolical-ways house. Our unwitting partiers should have gone to the movies instead. The 1981 horror feature, The Funhouse, directed by Tobe Hooper, lives up to its name in full as one of the most engaging scary movies of its era, thanks much in part to its endless barrage of nightmarish props presented in anamorphic Panavision as the lead characters navigate the setting. Mannequins and animatronic puppets are always a winning combination in cinema when it comes to generating unease. Much of the joy of watching this story also comes from the fact that, aside from Berridge's protagonist, the teenagers, who mercilessly heckle the sideshow employees and even steal money, are not entirely undeserving of their fates. I have loved The Funhouse since my teen years, back when I checked out the VHS tape because of its amazing cover art and subsequently had crushes on the characters played by both Berridge and Largo Woodruff. Hooper, who helmed this endeavor during his streak of The Texas Chain Saw Massacre (1974), Eaten Alive (1976), Salem's Lot (1979), Poltergeist (1982), Lifeforce (1985), Invaders from Mars (1986), and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 (1986), could do no wrong back then. Be on the lookout for the always-amazing Kevin Conway, who plays multiple carnival barkers. Sylvia Miles, whom I always associate with her role as a realtor in Oliver Stone's Wall Street, is magnificent as a fortune teller. William Finley, a stalwart of grindhouse films, is also memorable as a magician. Fun fact: The set pieces for this movie were reused in the music video for Billy Idol's “Dancing with Myself”, which was also directed by Hooper. This Scream Factory 4K UHD Blu-ray looks stupendously good. Be sure to catch the new extras on the standard Blu-ray disc. Last edited by The Great Owl; 10-31-2022 at 07:59 PM. |

Neither that, nor the They Live Steelbook are on there. Shout have been slowly announcing titles on their social media today, so perhaps later tonight they'll post them. Hopefully it doesn't get caught in some weird limbo where they leaked out, but aren't actually announced.
