They might really be able to push change if they'd stop using Vantiva (formerly Technicolor) for disc and package manufacuring. Losing significant business would send a real message.

What other NA options are there that can handle such scale? Shifting business to Germany or some other European business would likely be out of the question. It would increase costs, and be a huge scheduling nightmare, at least in the few few months of such a transition.

Manufacturers are making a US comeback because of ongoing supply chain issues, so maybe some domestic disc replication could return. Between all the boutique labels I think some domestic replication could be sustainable. BTW, my copy of Rough Cut contained a disc that was replicated in Germany. Maybe the cost of overseas replication isn't so bad.

That's coming from a multi-billion dollar company with worldwide reach though. Not the same as a domestic boutique label. It's the same reason you aren't hearing about a scratched disc crisis from Sony, Warner, Lionsgate, etc. It's not just the cost that's a factor though. Companies have various lead times to which they get their discs ahead of the release date, so having shipments coming form Germany will really throw that out of whack for some time, and require serious re-workings of a company's roadmap. This could especially hurt Shout who probably cut it close as it is, since they have to sometimes delay something to get an interview, etc..

Vinegar Syndrome discs have been manufactured in Germany too.

I'm aware, which is why I also discussed lead times in my post.

So no leaks yet on new Scream titles?

I'm hoping for these 4K upgrades:

Night of the Demons ('88)
Pumpkinhead
Class of 1984
Trick r Treat '07
Day of the Dead ('85)
Sleepaway Camp
Deranged
Silent Night Deadly Night
Rabid
Creepshow

I heard .. Day of the Dead.. ocn may be lost so most likely not happening anytime soon.

This is something I tend to get worried about as well whenever I have to return something from Amazon due to damage. With this recent scratched disc issue I've been having to do more returns than usual but it's still pretty small overall especially compared to how consistent of a buyer I am from Amazon. They would be crazy to ban me over the little amount of returns I have to do here and there. Another thing I try to do is leave positive feedback regarding delivery for everything, even scratched discs, as long as the shipping packaging itself isn't damaged.

Usually I jump on the site exclusives, but having trouble with the current two. Some of the other 60 minute B horror movies were tough to shell money out for. Some weren't moving so well and added to a few sales.

Really wish they would price them more competitive. I realize I used to buy VHS movies or volumes of a TV show for $30 back in the day, so I can kind of rationalize it but it's getting harder and harder to do with some of these.

FOMO will win out in the end. Shout knows this.

I wouldn't worry about it. If it's damaged, I usually leave nasty notes on the return. Seem really angry and displeased. Helps the returns seem more valid. Wouldn't be so "angry" if i was BSing, right? Did that once for instance when I got a game from there once and it was in pieces. Like the case was smashed into pieces, shrink wrap was barely hanging on, and the disc was in the package and not the case. The envelope crap it came in looked perfectly fine. Makes me think some jerk off sent it to me like that. I got a picture of it somewhere on my old phone though or I'd post it. Maybe another day in some other conversation. Looks like it got run over by a huge truck and then packaged up and sent to me.

Numerous things over the years. Damn place is a pit of fail and dumb. I don't really buy there anymore unless I have no choice or what I want is way cheaper than elsewhere. Got sick of their shit. Dumped garbage Prime. I hate that f'ing place and hope for the worst for it and Bezos.

Support small businesses.

Yeah I can agree with that. Overall I've had good luck with Amazon regarding damaged items (minus the current scratched disc issue) except my recent order for the Creepshow season 3 blu ray set. The first copy I got was completely destroyed and I mean obliterated. Had to have happened during shipping. I don't know how in their right mind why someone would initially package it in the condition it was in. I have some spare 3 disc blu ray cases but all 3 discs were terribly scratched up of course. Then my replacement copy came and all 3 discs were severely scratched up again. They wouldn't let me do another replacement so they just refunded me and said I didn't have to return the damaged copies so I'm just going to wait a while to order another copy hoping that I'll get one in better condition later down the line. Really frustrating.

I was hoping that My Bloody Valentine would get an upgrade since the blu was a 4k restoration but since they already announced February titles I don't see them releasing it later in 2023 after the holiday is over.

These last two were really tough for me. I love those types of movies but neither are "great" films. I'm a sucker for those 90s western martial arts films especially if it has Don "The Dragon" Wilson. I do wish there were more competitive features in the price.

This is the kind of stuff that really annoys me with Shout Factory in general. They know that FOMO will win out. At least give me something special feature-wise for the price.

That’s ironic, considering all the VS titles licensed to German distributors.

lol yeah I had ordered something else before, and kept having to reorder replacements like "let's see how long it takes for these stupid idiots to get it right", of course they never got it right because they're stoooooopid, so they ended up just refunding me. All they had to do is put it in an F'in small box, but they put it in those crappy paper mailers and it's way to big and round and fragile for that. So each one came damaged and crushed and destroyed. Amazon is such a failure of an operation, but they're so big now that they can easily loose billions and it wouldn't matter.

Bezos has mastered the art of growing an online sales empire, but when it comes to packaging stuff properly he's still stuck in the Stone Age. I wonder who decides what type of packaging to use for items - robots or actual people. Something (or someone) needs to be calibrated here.

Yeah that's what you have to do... there have been several times when I've ordered films from Amazon... first one shows up... damaged... replacement shows up... damaged again...

And after the 2nd one they don't let you do another replacement... so I take the refund and then try ordering it again at a later date.

It's definitely a game you have to play... it shouldn't be that way... but it is...
