Day was the "worst" of the trilogy, but still a great zombie flick.

I'm not sure what it is, but I've seen this movie several times throughout the years and have had different reactions to it--

at times it's either a great claustrophobic (underground setting) thriller, or a slow paced, pretentious, borefest (until the last 20 minutes of course which nobody could call boring!)

Thats why I want to revisit it - maybe Ill enjoy it more the 2nd time around. I wasnt into the characters as I was in NOTLD or DOTD - Duane Jones and Ken Foree were just great in their lead roles. I just felt something lacking in the 3rd installment...
Maybe it was*BUB*

The FX in Day is amazing, but I've never warmed to the gratingly unlikable characters or the one-note performances. I understand that stock types are frequently part and parcel of the horror genre, but in this particular case they're just too flat and one-dimensional. I actually find the characters and performances in Night to be far more credible and effective, despite their amateur nature.

No one said the film sucks, because it is very good. It just cant stand up against Dawn. If you do not compare them to each other, then they are all very well on their own.

They just are not films you can watch together in one sitting, is all. They are fantastic though, but that it just my opinion. They do not go as smoothly together as like a late night movie marathon.

Either way you look at it, Day of the Dead is a total classic, and I can't wait for the Scream Factory Blu!
I don't agree at all. I honestly don't care what other's have said about Day on here, its my favourite film in the trilogy. Why can't you compare them? Of course you can. And as for you saying they aren't films you can watch together. You're kidding right? They are in the same trilogy, they follow the same theme (zombie outbreak) and Day is the follow up to Dawn. How can you say they don't work together This baffles me.

As for people saying the characters weren't as good in Day as the other 2 movies. I kinda agree that the characters in Dawn where more likeable (and they where fantastic), but I find that the characters are more realistic in Day. You have some level headed characters, then as the situation gets worse, certain characters start to lose it. I think thats really realistic of what would happen in that situation. Plus I found the character of Bub really fascinating and like the fact they where trying to figure out the emotions of the zombies. Plus the gore is amazing!!!!

everyone just thought day was going to be like dawn in terms of scale but sadly the theatrical release and producers screwed things up but we can all agree Day did have the best gore effects/zombie make up yes

I can and have watched all 3 back to back, each individual will prefer different one (mines Dawn) but for me there all classics. As a whole i think horror fans are the most tolerant of each others taste as we all love films many non genre fans think are bobbins anyway, whether it be Jaws 3D or The Howling 2 or whatever.Sometimes i think im the only one who thinks Cheerleader Camp(87) is a slasher classic.

I don't know if I personally would use the word classic but I think Cheerleader Camp is a very entertaining film that I enjoy.

I'm just starting to rebuild my horror collection, ( had to sell to put my wife through college! ), and it is very very nice to see Scream here in the US brining out these great titles. BU seem to be on a vacation or something... I'll take them all!!! Does anyone know if Scream collectors editions always include slips? Or are they a first run kind thing? Thanks in advance!

Cliff, can you confirm if Day of the Dead will have the original mono track included? The surround tracks on the Anchor Bay and Arrow releases featured censored dialogue, removing words like "Shit" and replacing them with lesser terms like "Damn". Even "Jesus" is reworked. I dunno if they were made with TV broadcast in mind or something :/

Audio clips are here:

Yeah you're probably correct. But still, several people will buy 10 copies to hit up ebay I'm sure.
