Scream Factory Blu-ray Discussion Thread

So I may or may not have found possible SF leaks on Bullmoose. There was one time when I found a bunch of things that actually turned out to be their entire slate that month, which I'm still shocked by. This isn't like that, and I only have a couple things that may not even be accurate at all. I came across some random listings by luck, and for all I know they've been there for a while.

So bearing all that in mind, there is a possibility that SF will be releasing these in the near future:

Just got my scream factory 4k copies of Dead Silence and Wanted in the mail. Watching the Dead Silence one now. They got James Wan and Leigh Whannell back for interviews. I wish they got them to go a commentary.

Arrow has the rights to the first film while the two sequels are with Synapse

Well, it's not looking good for A Simple Plan for June. Maybe it's big enough for a September/October title? I just hope we don't have to wait another year for it.

Me too, I was gonna buy the collectors edition awhile back but it was always so expensive…. After a year or so I just figured “this is a top contender for 4K” …

I'm not as confident about what I found compared to past leaks I've found, because I have less to base it on, but a 4K release of

Definitely. I figured it was gonna be last year for the 40th, but maybe things got delayed or held up. Definitely a Day One for me.

Yeah, I'm surprised it's gone this long without a 4K upgrade. It's just inevitable it's coming.

When is The Brave Archer movie a Venoms film? When it is this, the fourth in a series originally starring international favorite Alexander Fu Sheng as master martial artist Kuo Tsing. But Fu only appears here in a cameo as the son of a character played by Lung Tien-Sheng (best known as a spear master in the Venoms film The Flag Of Iron). Kuo Chue is the new hero (as he is in the Venoms films as well) who is out to defeat the mass murderer of his martial arts masters. In fact, this fast-moving, action-packed film is even choreographed by the three core Venoms, making it a unique combination of grand "Martial Arts World" mayhem and special Venom-style, high-flying kung-fu.

LITTLE DRAGON MAIDEN (1080p High-Definition Widescreen (2.35:1) / Mandarin DTS-HD Master Audio Mono / 96 min.)
With Hong Kong cinema's new wave, high-flying, martial arts action of the 1980s came a new wave of actors: teeny-bopper, canto-pop singer/stars with little or no martial arts background. However, when a film like Little Dragon Maiden intelligently mixes the old with the new, the results are pure gold. This costume-filled action-drama-love story features relative newcomer Leslie Cheung, who falls in love with the Dragon Maiden while learning the art of swordplay. The recipe is complete when veteran kung-fu stars Chen Kuan-Tai and Lo Lieh add just enough weapon-wielding spice to make this film really cook. It's bizarre. I'd understand if Shout had their finger on the pulse when it comes to Shaw Bros titles, but this is their first Shaw Bros release, and they choose to come out of the gate like this? Not sure how much it says for their esteem of the catalogue.

It is a bit odd. My only guess is they figure people are not very familiar with the films/series, and are using the limited supply / site exclusive aspect to sort draw more attention to it. Plus, they probably don't expect it to sell as much as a wide release set would, though they have upped the limit to 2,500 copies rather than the usual 1,000 or 1,500.

To keep this on brand, I wonder if we can expect some Shaw Bros horror for the Scream Factory line? 88 released quite a few in the UK though there's a number we've yet to see in the US (I'd love Corpse Mania, which has yet to see a Blu-ray release anywhere). Maybe they could do a box set or two, or even double features where they make sense, like Black Magic 1 and 2 and Hex and its sequel? I just hope they don't go the site exclusives route too often.

The Brave Archer set I assume is going to go quick. All of the films haven't had a release outside of the first.
