Agreed 1000 percent.... nothing interesting happens and when its supposed to get interesting.. it just doesn't deliver... ( deaths were lame and there wasn't enough deaths)

Agreed. I love 80s slasher films, I grade them on a loving curve, and I forgive a good deal if the movie gives me something interesting, even if it's just one good scene, or a dose of low-budget surrealism.

Sorority House Massacre doesn't even have those two conditions. It's just formulaic and dull, and makes me think even Madman might be better than I remember, if only by comparison.

I'll bless Scream Factory if they can sell out the run, because I like the company and want them to stay in business. No way I'd buy a copy of this one, though.

I haven't seen the film myself to comment on the entertainment value. It is however an 80's horror film with a limited pressing so this is guaranteed to sell out.

Wouldn't say I love it but definitely enjoy it. Don't need to grab the SF release though, CR is fine for me.

Personally, I'd take Slumber Party Massacre over Sorority 9 times outta 10. That's not to say I don't find Sorority an entertaining and serviceable slasher.
IMO, it's not worth the $30 exclusive/upgrade from Shout unless one is unable to source the Scorpion disc.

If anyone were considering the upgrade, I'd roll the dice and wait for the 'Shocktober' sale where it might be $10 cheaper.

I like Sorority also but it doesn't compare to any of the Slumber Party Massacre movies. Sorority House Massacre II is also much better IMO. That said, I did pick up the new Shout release since I missed out on the scorpion disc.

Not sure I would pick Slumber Party Massacre over Sorority House Massacre, both are among my favorites so it would be hard to choose. That being said, I didn't buy the Sorority upgrade. Not a knock on the movie at all, I'm just not re-buying everything in my collection every time a better release rolls around... maybe would have been a different story if it wasn't a site exclusive and readily available, but that's the way Shout! goes.

I haven't tried to contact Shout, but whenever I've had that Captcha error elsewhere, I've gotten it to work by turning off "Enable content blockers" on my Safari browser. The webpage reloads and the Captcha works. After finishing my business, I re-enable the content blockers.

I watched it on Tubi for first time other night and enjoyed it too! Just preordered the Scream Factory blu. It definitely is more of a late night slow paced slasher like "Mortuary" and good one to laugh at with friends. But I did find some of the film-making pretty good especially the creepy scene where she sees the little girl mannequins sitting at the table. I'm curious to see the extended vhs cut, anyone have any thoughts on that? I read it's just filler scenes but cool that it's included.

The mannequins at the table was definitely the most unsettling shot, good call, simple and effectively creepy!!

Sorority House spoilers, a few of its issues:

The killer is extremely boring and generic
The killer's escape from the asylum is way too easy, implausible, and laughable, the tone of this movie was off I already knew his escape was going to be done so poorly
All the male characters are bumbling useless bafoons that are unbelievable bad at defending themselves and the girls
The escape down the ladder, they know there's a killer around yet as the guy is holding the ladder and the girl is climbing down, the 2 girls upstairs can't be bothered to keep watch out the window at all, enabling the killer to sneak up on the guy
Theres "no way out" from what I think was the backyard, so even after they've made it outside in the open, we're to believe, instead of trying to run around or past the killer, the best course of action was to go back in the house, which has a front door that locks from the inside that you still need a key to open, from the inside, so they go from being outside in the open to retreating to the dead end basement, makes perfect sense.
When the killer comes to life at the end and has an easy chance to stab his actual sister he's been after, but instead stabs her friend in the back, and then when the killer is stabbing his sister on the legs, it was so dark, and the acting and sound work so bad, I wasnt actually sure what was happening, till they showed her bandaged legs in the closing scene.
The classroom scene where philosophy is being discussed and shes looking out the window, is directly lifted from Halloween, I hate shit like this. Reminded me of the ending of Megan, when shes torn in two and her upper half still persists...I liked it the first time I can recall seeing it, in Terminator, anyone else doing that in a robot movie for their climax is just too much of a rip off to me.
