Scream Factory Blu-ray Discussion Thread

I received my 4K sale order today, that was fast. Only one lightly scratched 4K disc (the Carrie one) out of the whole batch of 4 movies, not too shabby. Will watch it tonight and hope it plays fine.

They packaged the discs and the posters up with the two big poster boxes inside an even bigger box. It looked like I was getting a casket for a midget. Better this than everything arriving crushed or bouncing around.

Shout! really didn't come to play when they packaged these. The box was huge. Everything came in perfect shape (pun unintended) and none of the discs had scratches. I wasn't expecting the vinyl and poster set to have the Scream Factory paper in it, hence why I used it as the backdrop for the photo. I'm definitely not throwing it away!

Another possibility for a Shout exclusive is Roger Corman's THE TERROR (1963). Steve Haberman has mentioned recording an audio commentary track for an upcoming Blu-ray release of it, and Haberman has contributed to other Shout discs. I'm speculating about Shout being the label.

That would be awesome! Just wondering, though, who owns a good print of it. MGM? It was an AIP title, but with so many PD releases (including The Film Detective), I'm wondering if SF or another label can pull a decent HD master out of the fire, or make one for a good blu-ray release.

MGM has vault elements for THE TERROR, but according to an MGM employee, nobody has accessed those elements.

If it isn't Shout, another person is guessing Wicked Vision, a label I'm not familiar with. According to Steve Haberman, he has also recorded a commentary for Corman's PREMATURE BURIAL, which is expected from Wicked Vision. So, perhaps THE TERROR is coming from WV, along with PREMATURE BURIAL. It's all speculation until officially announced.

I stand by my statement that the Shop app is terrible. Still no way to see shipping on it. Shouts website is terrible, has no shipping or tracking. They have yet to respond to me and I placed the order a week ago.

Has anyone had any succes in contacting SF through the contact form on the website recently?

I bought a Critters Collection in a previous sale, and unfortunately it arrived quite banged up (luckily, the rest of the order and the discs themselves were spot free). I tried to contact them about a replacement. I did not go through the insurance claims form, as that one has a time limit of 14 days, and since I have to go through a re-shipper, those 14 days were long gone. It has never been an issue before, the couple of times I have had to contact them before, but this time I have heard nothing back, and it has been 2-3 weeks now ...

That's cool, since it was released nine months ago and they only guarantee slips for three months.

On a related note, I wish they would post on their store website when the slip for a title is sold out, the same way they do when the free poster is sold out.

Update to this post. Paramount are releasing this set on BD in the UK! Did Lionsgate have UK rights to part 4 as well? The back cover doesn't mention any other studio name.

Not sure why they're only doing a DVD set in the US, but perhaps this is a sign that a BD set will also come out here.

Par for the course the past year, sadly. Not surprisingly starting with their insurance option.

I ordered the Chucky 1-3 4K set with the Neca figure and the Rock N Roll High School 40th Steelbook from the sale, and the Chucky set shipped a day after I ordered and has already been delivered, but still no sign of RNRH? No shipping notice or anything.

I emailed them a few days ago and still nothing...

The last two service inquiries I've had with them were answered in 7 days or less, fine but not the 'same day or next' that was customary, at least from my experience, over the past few years.

Looks like I am not the only one who's experiencing a bit of weirdness with SF this time.

I, too, placed an order for 3 UHDs + posters (Rollerball, War Games, A Company of Wolves) as soon as the sale went live on the 15th. Then I ordered the $75 Child's Play set later that day, which shipped the next day, and was delivered on the 19th. Meanwhile I have yet to receive a shipping notification for the first order.

Now I generally don't give a shit about shipping related stuff. I've always been of the mind that they'll get to it when they get to it, and if it wasn't for the posters I wouldn't even think twice about this, but considering they sold out shortly after I ordered them I'll admit I've kinda sorta just made my peace with not getting them.

Oh, and to make it even more entertaining, I went an ordered the Carrie SteelBook + Pins set on the 19th, and it shipped on the 20th. It is due for delivery tomorrow.
