And so my hot streak of scratch-free SF discs comes to an end. Here's hoping they'll be cool about replacing them. If not, I will have to go back to avoiding them and their junk as I did for years until this last sale came around.
This is what makes me hesitant about buying the two Shaw Bros sets. Spending over $100 for a box set only for the discs to arrive looking like they’ve been through hell & back is not something I look forward to.

The Shaw sets are on blu-rays. The problem is with the UHD's. They scratch a lot easier than blus. I'm sure some may have an issue with a Shout blu here and there, but the issue is with the 4K discs, so purchase away.

Yep, I don't blame you. One of my friends bought their Brave Archer set, and he had to ask for replacements. He, too, is reluctant to buy their Shaw sets now.

Here's one of his discs, and I don't know if you can believe it, but mine are worse.

My bad... I know the UHD's have been a problem for a long while now and I remember not hearing anything about the blus, but I guess it has spread...

I'm still trying to figure out how they're scratching the discs...are they cutting lines of coke on the disc with a razor blade.

Yep. All of my BDs have been fine, but these last few UHDs are just awful. I still haven't heard back from CS yet, either.

Man, I wish I knew. We'd at least have some sort of explanation for this bullshit. At this point I'm ready to just go back to ignoring them, because this is ridiculous, and really shouldn't be condoned by anyone.

One of the discs in my Brave Archer set has 3 small scratches on it, like if a micro version of Wolverine took a swipe at it lol. Haven’t had a chance to test it out yet though. The BD special features disc of my Return of the Living Dead 4K set had some small scratches too.

I had those exact same scratches on a couple of 4ks I got from them earlier this year. Although I'm happy to say I've had better luck than some people in this thread, and most of my discs have been fine. I wondered if there was something on a conveyor belt that that was scratching them somehow. Like a mechanical arm that was supposed to be moving them was pushing down too hard as they passed over a surface that wasn't smooth like it was supposed to be. I have no idea how any of this works, but that's what I envisioned.

To try to put a positive spin on it though, let's all assume that these mysterious scratches are just teasing a Nightmare on Elm Street complete collection.

Yes it's been an issue with blu rays just as much.

This is my Rollerball UHD disc (top and middle), and WarGames UHD disc (bottom). I don't know what the hell they did to Rollerball, but it's so bad it's almost funny. None of those marks are dust, or any kind of residue. It's all pits (nicks?) and scratches.

Man that’s horrible. I used to buy so many releases from Scream (as you can see from my collection) but cause of all these scratch issues I’ve slowed down a lot. Makes me wish Arrow had gotten the Shaw movies instead since I’m very hesitant to order them now.

I stopped buying 4K releases from Shout after having to replace the 4K discs and Blu-ray discs for Halloween, Halloween II, Halloween III, Black Christmas, The Return of the Living Dead, and The Fog. It's just not worth it to me anymore. I'll stick with the collector's edition Blu-rays for the rest of their catalog titles.

I've never seen any of my discs scratched like that... who are you ordering from to receive them that damaged? Strange.

It doesn't matter where they are ordered from, all the discs from Shout are coming from the same plant in Mexico.

As I said, they were purchased directly from SF. My friend's Brave Archer set is an SF exclusive and that, too, came directly from SF.

Unfortunately, it doesn't matter where one purchases SF's product. These damaged discs have been an ongoing issue for years, and at this point the only 100% guaranteed way to get scratch free SF discs is by buying used, so you can see what you're getting before you buy it.

Oh, man, I hear you.

I just received my order from the recent box set sale.

The Critters box was (once again) completely banged up. This is actually the second copy I have ordered, as the first one arrived likewise damaged, and I am still waiting for a replacement for that.

Two of the Universal Horror Collection had crushed slips. The case of one of them could not even hold any of the discs. They were all loose inside and cannot attach to the hubs. And about four of the discs had circular scratches along the edges.

I am done with ordering boxes from Shout. And if they give me any shit about replacing those things, I am filing a fraud claim at my bank. Luckily, I am pretty well protected in that regard.
