I look at every Blu ray or 4K disc under a light and inspect them once I make a purchase. Like I've said only had one Scream Factory disc that was scratched and it was years ago. Only other scratched disc I've had recently was Vinegar Syndrome, and it was a tiny scratch.

I have been on the "lucky" side too apparently. If the Insider is accurate and they did actually get the issue identified and fixed in Mexico, we are all better off for it...

I had one minor scratch on DR GIGGLES but it played fine.
I had one title glitch up all over (with no visible scratches)-- DEAD SILENCE, which I returned to Amazon-- that's it-- and if you peruse my collection you will see that I have tons of SCREAM titles... I can't for the life of me figure out how a handful of people keep getting numerous defective discs.... ![]() |

As I noted previously, I was fortunate in that only 1 of my 4 discs had scratches and my disc wasn't in as rough of shape as yours was so playback didn't appear to be affected, but it's still disconcerting to be seeing these issues to this degree when I can honestly say that none of the other distributors I've bought from have had this issue. (I haven't bought a criterion disc in a quite some time so I can't comment on whether they are better/worse/the same as shout factory has been. |

The fact that there are what, maybe 30 - 40 of us "regulars" that post here anymore but between us we are able to consistently post up photographs of scratched discs seems to imply it's a fairly substantial problem. I'm not one to complain about scratches and generally speaking am not all that bothered by most of them, but seeing images like those above posted time and time again across a number of titles on a brand new release is clearly indicative that this is anything but an isolated issue.

I'll never understand shilling for a company that clearly has a scratched disc issue. I can't believe those of us in this hobby are just fine with it.
The issue I have is that when I reached out to Scream Factory for assistance, they refused without me recording evidence of the playback being affected. Why put that on the customer? I already took all the requested photos. I never actually posted them here because I was trying to do the right thing and let SF resolve the issue. They have since responded in an unprofessional way since I posted a negative review of them so the Hell with them. Here are my scratched discs from the last 4k sale. ![]() [Show spoiler] [Show spoiler] [Show spoiler] [Show spoiler] [Show spoiler] [Show spoiler] [Show spoiler] [Show spoiler] [Show spoiler] [Show spoiler] [Show spoiler] [Show spoiler] [Show spoiler] They refused to replace any of the discs (because I pushed back on providing evidence of affected playback) but did offer a refund if I sent the movies back.
