Glad to see that Silver Bullet (1985) and Tales From the Darkside (1990) are getting 4K's.

Still waiting for 4K's of

Demon Knight (1995)
Curse of the Werewolf (Hammer 1961)
The Evil of Frankenstein (Hammer 1964)

The two Hammer films already have 4K masters.

Looks like you got one from the list coming from sure. Karate for Life, which is a good one. Technically BCI also released Golgo 13, although it was within a boxset. Both are great news.

Hadn't noticed that but their mixing of reviews are as bad as Amazon. For example, the Creepshow UHD product page has reviews all from 5 years ago.

I haven't seen the Death Wish remake since theaters, but all I remember about it is they filmed in Toronto but were faking it as Chicago, so in order to sell it the characters make a point to bring up Chicago Style Pizza every other scene.

Since Shout Factory released the original Child’s Play last year, I assume they have a licensing agreement with MGM. I hope they will re-acquire the rights to release Amityville 2 and 3 on UHD since the BD set they released went OOP.

The Oyama films are a favorite, but also hoping for a decent number of new to disc titles too.

Man, having the Oyama trilogy on Blu-ray would be fantastic. All of the images of Chiba on the artwork are familiar, but like others, I was only 100% about the bottom left one being from KARATE FOR LIFE, the top left being KARATE WARRIORS, and the obvious one of him from GOLGO 13. It is surprising that the artist didn't include a depiction of Chiba in a karate gi if those three Oyama films are indeed included. But still, I do dig the cover art. Very cool.

I just recently rewatched KARATE WARRIORS (via a gorgeous-looking new HD version that I believe came from a Japanese TV broadcast) and it's still so damn enjoyable. Kind of like a mix of Chiba's Terry Tsurugi's STREET FIGHTER character getting involved with a Lone Wolf and Cub-type duo (the kid in this is terrific!) in a modern-day riff on the YOJIMBO story with yakuza bastards, duplicitous femme fatales, and featuring gunplay, bone-shattering karate devastation, and katana mayhem. I'm thrilled this will be included- I need it on Blu!

Does anyone think that the Chiba box set would contain the 1980 film Virus?
I've been dying to get a bluray of the international extended cut of that for years.
It was released on one of the BCI Chiba sets.

See below....

DVD/Blu were significantly stronger and more resiliant to scratched, we know that 4K discs/players do not have that same resiliance.

So yes, scratches matter.
It’s not that Blu-ray discs are more resistant to scratches….Blu-ray and 4K discs use the same protective coating. it’s just that it doesn’t matter as much in playback compared to 4K discs due to the data density on the disc. That’s why the exact same scratch that can cause playback issues on a 4K disc could be no problem at all if it was on a BD.

I've had plenty of 4K discs glitch out on me without so much as a speck of dust on it. I think the overall technology is flawed and/or was never fully perfected. Sometimes I've had to switch to a Blu-ray disc because the 4K was pixelating badly or wouldn't play without stuttering and skipping around. Poor manufacturing practices exacerbates the problem. Someone should seriously reconsider reopening another pressing plant in the US. Doesn't need to be a fancy operation, just big enough to take some of the load off of the Mexico plant and thus reduce mistakes.

These films are being licensed by Toei, I would say chances are slim since it's Kadokawa. It's one of my MOST wanted films on Blu-ray, but there has to something blocking this from release as I'm sure it would have released by now.

So my copy of Night Of Comet has "scratches", wiped a few off but some still persist. Discs runs without issue 30 minutes into the movie though.

I had a lot of problems like that with my first UHD player (a Philips BDP7502), but it’s been smooth sailing since upgrading to a Panny UB820.

Random Observation: Both September and October don't currently have any planned releases on the last week of the month. This would appear to indicate that we should be getting more surprise announcements during that time.

Not exactly ground breaking news/observations I know, but given the time of the year these announcements could be a bit more interesting than the norm (Fingers crossed).

I'll pick up the Death Wish remake on 4k. It's an underrated movie and probably the last good performance that Bruce Willis gave.

Fargo on 4k is an absolute day 1 as well. I've never seen Silver Bullet, I'll have to check it out before it comes out. See if I want to pick it up.

Still really bummed we aren't getting Rob Zombie's H1 & H2 on 4k this year.

He made over 30 films after Death Wish, including Glass, so I disagree.
