Nothing overly cheesy about it, It is just flat out creepy as hell. For real.

You will love it.
A couple of years ago DARK NIGHT OF THE SCARECROW was a surprise hit for me. I had never seen it or in fact heard of it and watched it twice the first night I saw it on DVD.
Now it has become one of my all time fave films from that period.

I'm not expecting TOWN THAT DREADED SUNDOWN to approach that height with me, but who knows....it might....

Although that's probably a good assessment, Terrorvision and The Video Dead actually was jam-packed with extras.

While it was true for releases like The Island, what we have for extras in The Video Dead and Terrorvision is phenomenal.

For Terrorvision:
An Audio Commentary
A pretty length documentary on the film (34 minutes)

The Video Dead:
Two Audio Commentaries
A pretty thorough interview with the make-up crew for TVD.
Some outtakes, and some behind the scene photos.

Compared to some pretty lightly-packaged Collector's Editions like Terror Train:

45 minutes of interviews.

The interviews are nice, and I thoroughly enjoy them, but lacking a commentary track really was disappointing for me, I really wish there were some more insight on the film.

I only have about eight SF releases, but I feel like they haven't topped themselves since the original two releases, Halloween II and Halloween III.

I really like when SF puts together an actual comprehensible documentary and not just a string of interviews. Interviews are great and sometimes I know that's all that they have to work with, but when you have a cohesive documentary, it really makes for a better product, I feel.

I was really surprised and excited about the news of Body Bags. I had only seen about half of the film, and it's definitely a day-one buy for me.

I haven't got a SF release since TerrorVision/TVD, moreso because funds have been lacking, but it things are looking brighter, and I'm really looking forward to getting my hands on The Town That Dreaded Sundown (Blind Buy), From Beyond, Phantasm II, The Burning, and Lifeforce (Blind Buy).

My most interested films yet to be released for this year are probably Day of the Dead, The Incredible Melting Man, and Body Bags.

EDIT: Doh, how could I forget The Fog!

I have a gut feeling Scream will be releasing Hell Night this year. It has been mentioned several times and Cliff has never shut it down. I hope this is true as it is a great movie to watch on or near Halloween.

Also Scream asked on Facebook what TV movies we would want released. Here's some realistic picks (ie. not owned by Sony, Warner or Disney (In the case of Mr. Boogedy)). Cliff any chance these are a possibility?

Midnight Hour - Anchor Bay released a DVD of this but it is long OOP and highly sought after. Another great movie to watch on or near Halloween and lots of fun!

The Haunted (1991) - This movie doesn't get talked about enough, but I remember it being a very creepy haunted house movie based on a true story. This would be a great release next to the Amityville Horror Trilogy.

Duel - Jaws on wheels. Don't know if Universal would let this go being a Spielberg film but you never know.

Trilogy of Terror - Decent anthology film with a really great segment.

Dead of Night - Another good anthology film, a genre that is heavily lacking on Bluray.

Woman in Black (1989) - The original and apparently far scarier take on this tale.

Night Strangler/ Night Stalker - This would be a great double feature and seeing how they are both owned by MGM seems like a good possibility.

Killdozer - Universal finally released this on DVD through their burn on demand service. It's deserves better.

Norliss Tapes - I haven't seen but have heard great things.

Dark Sky has Trilogy of Terror , probably with ZERO plans to go HD with it, while Trilogy of Terror part 2 is with Paramount, which means
1-its with Olive
2-its with Warner
3-its still with Paramount collecting dust

I've heard good things about that film but haven't seen it. I have the 1986 remake on Midnite Movies double feature. Have you seen that, is it any good?

I haven't seen any of those other then of course Salem's Lot which is with Warner so there is 0% chance Scream will be able to release it. I need to catch up on my TV horror watching but since not many of them are released to DVD or Bluray it's pretty hard. It seems like there a lot of hidden gems out there that no one knows about. Scream should release TV horror collections with 4 movies on each set.

I wasn't sure Dark Sky was even around, looks like they release a couple titles a year. I wonder if they still have the rights? That probably means Dead of Night is out as well. They have a lot of great titles but it looks like they only release newer titles on Blu. Such a shame! And yeah, I figured Trilogy of Terror 2 was unlikely.

this would probably never happen but wouldn't it be cool if there was a boxed set of scary early 70"s TV movies which included titles from the above posts?

Its chilling, especially the trombone scene. It really is just plain horrible to think that someone could have done something like that. Its creepy.

And the killer actually used a bag over his head in the real murders. I find that True Story gimmick very creepy too.

I would love, since we are talking TV Movies...

Wes Craven's "Summer of Fear", starring Linda Blair and Fran Drescher.

Since TV movies usually fall out of copyright, how about a whole Wes Craven: the TV Years set, with Summer, Chiller and Invitation to Hell?
(Neither of which would really sell that well on their own...)

Anyone know if Halloween III ships with the slip from Amazon? I just got a copy from BestBuy.com with no slip. Maybe I should've ordered elsewhere? The only other Shout release I have is The Funhouse and that one (purchased from ImportCDs.com) came with a slip (purchased a couple months back).

All three are only about 70 - 75 minutes long and could probably all fit on one disc without many issues.

this could be released and include the theatrical BURNT OFFERINGS as well...

Cliff, before this discussion ends up with another 20 posts.... any chance of anything like these suggestions? I was a kid in the 70's and these movies were genuinely scary to me and I have great nostalgia for them... I'm hoping I'm not alone...

I order all of them from Best Buy and I have never gotten one without the slipcover.

If you take it back to them, they will refund you then you could probably just buy it from the Shout Factory store. Or order another copy from BestBuy.com

The slipcovers aren't limited, so you should have gotten it. No matter where you ordered it from.

I used an U&S coupon so I'm not sure how it'd work...

Just re-order it full price, and return the slipless version for the full refund. My Halloween II I ordered online from Best Buy 3 months ago came with a slip.

Edit: I see you had the epiphany before I posted. There's no restocking fee as long as you return it to an actual store.
