Got my fingers crossed that some day this will happen.

Or someone else took it. The only Shout! Factory related title I've ever seen at BBY was Police Story and they've never had a Scream Factory title on the shelves at my local BBY.

I actually got it by doing an online-in store order. When I went to pick it up I didn't notice it didn't have a slipcover until I was on my way home and looked in the bag. Thus, the only people that have access to it would've been employees. And I was talking about doing an express lane at Best Buy, they have every SF title online.

Also, does anyone know what the chances are of Scream getting the rights to Madman (1981)?

I'm not sure about in the US, but I will say that the aforementioned UK Blu-Ray does have the original audio as one of the tracks available (and the movie and feature length documentary are in HD, meaning they'll play on your player; just hit the Top Menu button on your "Wrong Region" screen and you'll be good to go).

the film and the more brains doc is in Region A, but what else??

How much of the disc can I actually view other than the film??

And isnt it true that the disc features the original soundtrack, but it is not in HD like the remixed track.

Anyone know anything about Matthew Bright's Freeway and Freeway 2: Confessions of a Trick Baby? These are begging to be rereleased and I could actually see a label like Scream Factory putting them out.

Paramount controls them via Republic

I had wondered about this, and even asked on a few occasions. Nice to have it confirmed, thanks.

A little off topic, but I just watched Texas Chainsaw 3D on demand.

Loved the twist ending, my friends got really annoyed by me guessing it early on, but it was just a hunch and I don't think the average viewer would have gotten the vibes from the original films that were being thrown around.

These guys knew what they were doing, they payed homage to all the sequels as well as the original, and even, in some way, tied them all together. They mad a semi-remake, prequel, sequel. And I loved it. It even featured cameos by the cast of the first two films, and some characters were named after the crew who worked on the films, like Tobe Hooper for example. It picked up, literally, where the original stopped. And it even had a lot of scenes be paid homage to from the lesser sequels, like III and Next Generation, and the Michael Bay films.

They really paid attention to the entire franchise, as a whole.

I thought I would hate it, but I cleared my mind of all an-fueled bias and ultimately was floored by how true of a sequel this was. I hope the obvious eventual sequel doesn't mess up a good thing.

Highly recommended. It takes reboots to a whole new level, actually respecting and contributing to an original film. Fantastic!

I went to see this in 3-D opening weekend and really enjoyed it, I was surprised by all the haters and their comments about the movie.

what really bothered me was that they made leatherface into a sympathtic figure. i know this can work in other horror movies but i feel that it really takes away from what made TCM so good in the first place. that there is a psycho cannibal family that is out there killing people and eating them and that they really dont have a good reason to be doing so. i understand anithero stuff but they went a little too far with it.
[Show spoiler]it felt like the real villians of the movie were the other family and the posse of people who burnt the sawyers house to the ground.
at the same time the movie wasnt terrible. it was worth watching. i just dont think it was worth buying... at least not untill its in the 5 to 7 dollar range

I was kinda iffy about even posting it here, because there are a lot of very passionate fans on this forum, to say the least.

But I really liked it. I was really fun and I love how it respected the entire franchise and didn't try to make something original out of a reboot.

It knew that it was a reboot, and I think that self-awareness made it very enjoyable.

I agree about the pricing, it is very expensive at 40 dollars when it isn't on sale. Jeez.

And I think Letherface was always kind of sympathetic, with him getting bullied by the at least one member of the family per film. I like the direction they went with it, but they may have gone a little too sympathetic with it.

I do think it was , overall, very good. And
[Show spoiler] Leatherface still remains scary even to the end. That much did not change
.

For the record, I've had no playback issues with my Panasonic player (on any UK releases).

Cliff already said that Scream wouldn't release ROTLD, as the UK steelbook is definitive and can't really be improved upon. The exhaustive 'More Brains' doc (in 1080p) is the equivalent of the Never Sleep Again doc and is the final word on the making of the film.

It really is an incredible release, the fact that it includes More Brains alone makes it worth the price.

That's too bad as a lot of us don have region free players and can't play most of the extras. As nice as it would be to have the movie with its original audio track, I don't want to double dip on the movie to have half the disc unplayable.

Look at it this way - if there was a UK release that 'only' had the original audio and the 2-hour 'More Brains' doc in 1080p, would you be more likely to double-dip? Besides, think of those additional unplayable extras as motivation to eventually spend $60 on a region-free player. In the meantime, you'll be able to enjoy a superb, fascinatingly honest examination of the film's creation and reception, plus original audio, a cool-looking steelbook, and a clever 'notepad' booklet from Ernie. As it's basically official that no deluxe US release is forthcoming (now or ever), isn't it better to only have half the extras (the best half) for now - with the option to possibly access them in the future through a region-free player - than to have none at all, simply because you are frustrated (understandably so) that you can only watch half?
