It was, but sometimes a label will grab worldwide rights from the studio if available, so no other label internationally can compete with their release (since 4K is region free).

Would you actually believe Arrow to pull off such a dick move?

If Shout doesn't release them it's probably just Universal being restrictive with the licensing. I thought it was odd they even bothered with a studio BD release of the sequels after already licensing them to Shout. They're giving the Jaws sequels 4Ks, so I guess it's possible they want to handle the Psycho sequels themselves too.

I feel like if Arrow had worldwide rights, they would've (officially) released the set in the US and Canada as well, though.

It is not that they would have worldwide rights, it is a worldwide exclusive period. Think the German remaster of The Frighteners, they paid for the work and Universal will not let anyone have access to the mater for X amount of years, after that time frame is up, anyone that licensed the film from Universal gets access to the master.

To be honest, I wouldn't put it past any label nowadays to try and secure exclusivity sales if they could. SF already have the rights to the Psycho sequels, so it would be strange for Universal to be restrict them.

I'll be getting the first Stepfather film as I never got around to the first release. Hopefully something will eventually be able to get done with the 2nd and 3rd films.

In for The Strangers 4K and very happy about the Stepfather 4K. Now if we can only get the sequels. I’d even settle for just regular blu rays at this point.

I've never seen Stepfather but I am mildly interested since John Locke is in it.

i thought it might have just been an early placeholder artwork thing, but it appears all 6 4K releases are Collectors Editions. We've never seen a month with that many before.

What if the reason we haven’t had a US pre-order of A Nightmare on Elm Street is because it’s one of Scream’s October releases?

Doubtful, but just a random thought that came to me.

We didn't get pre-orders for Twister 4K until like barely two months before the release date. Warner keeps a short window, though not much shorter than Shout's. We'll probably see pre-orders for NOES in August.

Why not get the Arrow release? It's fantastic and will probably be better (even if by a small degree).

The Stepfather is one of those films I know I remember seeing on TV when I was a kid but can't remember much. I'm very much excited to give it a proper viewing.

I'm tempted by some of the other but that one's a definite purchase.
