So far, Halloween 2024 has been one huge

I'm all for upgrades but mainly just for back catalog titles shot on film, where the uptick in resolution and HDR make real differences. When it comes to modern films shot digitally, I go on a case by case basis but I see very little benefit to putting something shot digitally out on 4K discs.

From this batch I'll grab Death Becomes Her and maybe Devil, which I loved, but, again, the Blu-ray looks great already. I thought Death Becomes Her was one of those titles where the filmmakers and the studio weren't interested in talking about the film? I've also read or heard that the film elements weren't up to par. Maybe I'll just wait for reviews for that one.

Sigh. The pool of new-to-Blu licensable titles must have gotten very small in the last 5 years. Bound to happen with so many boutiques competing for stuff.

I’ll take Death Becomes Her, but wow, what a dull month. Rerelease city.

Death Becomes Her and The Wolfman for me.
I'm glad it coming out, but I'm okay with Shocker on Blu-ray.

2 straight months with not a single Shout! Select title. Interesting and very disappointing.

Land of the Dead, The Wolfman, and Drag Me to Hell are all movies I like a lot but I’m gonna need some technical details on the elements used for these transfers before I upgrade. Really not interested if they’re gonna be using filmouts instead of DIs (like The Amityville Horror).

‘The Hitcher’ conspicuously missing from this slate of new releases.

So much for there only being one upgrade. Disappointing slate. Wolfman might be worth the double dip but I'm fine with my current discs for the other titles.

I had my doubts about that 'Shout Factory Official' being a real Insider but now I know they're not.

I would honestly chalk it up as a lie since if you think about it, it wouldn't really make sense for there to be just one 4K upgrade for October. It'd be a heck of a coincidence for a troll account to know about a future sale the same exact period it happens, but I suppose they'll have to prove themselves further if they wanted to be believed. They've had an account since 2022, and only made 4 posts in here, which would be an odd and patient way for a troll to..troll. Like I said, let's see what they say going forward.

So far they've said:

No Summer of Fear Sale = true
Steelbook sale the following week = true
Announcements being announced Monday = true (though not much of a prediction either way)
Only one upgrade with a emoji = false Actually true, see edit below.

edit: See the post three down from this one. Apparently when they were saying one upgrade, they were replying to someone asking which titles from their Unstreamable sale were getting upgraded, and they said just one, which turned out to be Shocker. So, they were actually right about this too.

Just Shocker for me if there's a remastered Blu included (since I never got around to buying it).

Don't feel the need to upgrade my Blu's of The Wolfman or DMTH, and my DVD of LOTD will do... not a huge fan.

Ohh, well that puts his post into a new context then. I think we all thought they were saying one 4K upgrade overall, rather than one from that sale. I guess that gives further credence to them beng legit then, since everything they've said has been true so far..

Shout is really all-in for UHD support, which is good news.
