So much for that *1* upgrade hint.

You sneaks, OfficialShoutFactory.

I'll get my hands on the Land of The Dead 4K if I can.

I am all in for these 4K upgrades!! I wholeheartedly view them as such and not “double dipping”, which to me means same format as previously released. These ones are all new to 4K.

Unless “death becomes her” has a Meryl Streep and/or Goldie Hawn commentary my wallet will stay closed for scream this October.

Be nice if they were more forthcoming about the specs for Drag Me To Hell and The Wolfman. Surely they must know by now whether the Unrated/Extended cuts will be in 4K or not? Are they just delaying the bad news?

I held off so long on buying the studio release for As Above, but eventually did grab it around a year ago for pretty cheap. The SF art looks really cool, especially with the slip, but a few new interviews isn't worth buying the film again.

There was a time when I would gladly double-dip on SF BD releases for films I already owned, but Shout would put more effort into the extras and you could usually buy them for under $22. These days they might add some bland interviews (if anything new at all) and charge almost $30. It's harder to justify.

If I recall, the blu-ray used one of those ancient Universal transfers, so even without new extras both this and Shocker should be massive upgrades.

My bad; I assumed the ShoutFactoryOfficial was like a product support or marketing person. I thought about clarifying that info when I saw the confusion in the thread this weekend. But I'm kind of a new convert from digital this year, skipped over from the VHS/DVD days before Shout Factory and I thought everyone might be talking about something else I didn't even know about.

But, I'd like to thank that guy, I'd have bought Shocker bluray on the sale at the end of last week and been kind of grumpy about my purchase this morning. I held off on my checkout until today.

I hope no Shout Selects in my cart get upgraded today after the fact.

What's up with all of the people asking for My Bloody Valentine (2009)? Does Shout have a Lionsgate deal or did LG lose the rights?

Maybe Wolfman for the artwork, but tops.

Considering how many unreleased movies have never seen a Blu-ray release
makes this lineup even more disappointing.

Same goes for Arrow in October. All re-releases of titles we’ve already had
before.
C’mon, it’s October!! It’s Halloween season and there is soooo much lost potential here!
Yeah except for the J horror set from Arrow Video the only companies that have been putting out new to Blu-Ray horror titles this year are Criterion, Radiance, imprint, and Umbrella. I don’t know why Arrow Video, and Shout! Factory didn’t release more new to Blu-Ray horror titles this month. It’s really stupid honestly, and like you said there’s so much lost potential from these two companies.

I get As Above So Below, but awful October for me. Bunch of 4K’s I couldn never see myself needing as Blu-ray’s are good enough for all of them. Wish they had a few more new releases aside from Devil, Wolfman & AASB. Really was hoping for some more new to Blu releases in general.

Oh well, more money to spend on other labels October releases.

mixed announcements---

DEATH BECOMES HER--- never bought the original release (wasn't there something technically wrong with it?) so this one's a go.

THE WOLFMAN-- I liked this and the blu ray is over a decade old... as long as BOTH cuts are in 4k then this one is worth an upgrade

From there....

AS ABOVE is a solid movie but the current blu ray is just fine... pass

DRAG ME TO HELL--- this one I've never loved-- a potentially super fun concept marred by a seriously mean spirited ending... pass

SHOCKER-- this is.... a bad movie. Pass

LAND OF THE DEAD--- I'm gonna read reviews and list this one as a maybe...

DEVIL--- really? Not seeing the appeal to upgrade this one-- pass

As Above, So Below not getting a 4K is depressing. Is it because it's found footage and the digital source isn't adequate or something? God knows when/if another boutique will touch it. It really is a modern classic IMO.

Had a feeling this month would be underwhelming. 2022 really was their peak year and it'll only be more disappointing from now on. I might blind buy death becomes her and shocker (I almost got the blu ray earlier this year), and now I regret getting drag me to hell last year, should've known it would get a 4k eventually and I really enjoyed the film.

Death Becomes Her on 4K is absolutely massive to me. The existing Blu-ray features such a creaky, ancient transfer so this is one of those re-releases that really deserves the upgrade. Drag Me to Hell is also exciting, and Shocker’s a great, underrated flick. Same for Devil. Pretty good month!

Forget some of these Debbie downers, I am so in for Wolfman, Death BecomesHer, Shocker, Devil, and Drag Me To Hell. It's gonna be an expensive month.

The 4k releases just sell way way better than obscure new to blu stuff. stuff like the robocop 2 and night of the comet 4ks are in nearly 5 times as many peoples collections on this site than funeral home which was a very highly requested new to blu title. In a world run by money, the rereleases are just good business.
