I suppose now is as good a time as any to say this. A few weeks back, I was asked by this site, based on some pressure put on them from a major studio, to withdraw from posting leaks. At the same time, they are doing everything possible to prevent the leaks from happening in the first place. All of my leaks have come from public sources. I didn't gather them from insider sources, or hacking or anything like that. So, going forward, I personally won't be able to post any title ahead of Shout themselves announcing them. And just to ward off any potential anger at the label, I can't say whether any of this comes from Shout Factory themselves. All I know is that it came from people at a major studio.

I know many will be upset about this turn of events. I firmly believe my leaks, and the well-detailed threads I made for them were beneficial for Shout Factory, and created more buzz and hype around their announcements than otherwise would be the case. At the same time, I fully understand why companies would frown upon someone leaking stuff before they're ready to do so.

For many years, I actually felt a degree of pressure to "deliver" on leaks, and also felt bad when I couldn't find them, even though it was largely beyond my control. I even tried doing a soft retirement in this thread a couple years back, if some of you may recall. So, in some regards, I feel a bit of relief from having to go through those feelings monthly, and can look forward to the announcements as a regular onlooker,.

Now we'll just have to find out which 4K upgrade will be announced next before a re-release of said 4K upgraded into a steelbook.

Thanks for your years of service. Sorry you felt the pressure man, that stinks. I always made sure you knew it was all in good fun when your leaks were "late", but now I feel bad!

On an aside on the topic, for general discussion. I have NEVER understood why a label would get upset by leaks. Leaking things early will NEVER result in less sales. "Oh man, if someone leaks our release of 80s B movie 14 people saw in theaters, it will doom the label and the licensor!" Not only that, Shout doesn't even do hype like Arrow does. Shout, the only way we know new titles are being announced is when the SF Insider here tells us.

Now where will DawnoftheDiscs and D*ckFather get their scoops?!

All jokes aside, cheers for the effort over the years, MifuneFan! It has been appreciated. I've said this before, and I can't help but say it again. I really do find the whole secrecy/uptight approach regarding annoucements or leaks by studios/labels quite silly.

To all studios/labels, we appreciate your work. But please remember, these are movies we have seen before. We have more than likely owned them on various formats. They have been seen by millions of people. They are not Mi5 classified documents. Nothing is going to happen if they leak early. Literally NOTHING. Announce your yearly line up for all I care. It won't affect sales in the slightest or change buying habits if they are announced now, or a month/year later.
