I know please just let me put it on my "fancy shelf" Cliff.

At least the original 1st SLUMBER PARTY MASSACRE blu-ray!? (:

I will sneak the other disc into the BD box, like others have suggested

Will The Beast Within have any of the cut footage from Mora's preferred version before the studio got out their scissors? The film is a complete mess, albeit fascinating. I'd spring for it if it had the cut footage, but otherwise forget it.

I'm sure the vast majority of us would prefer an identically priced double-feature disc with Visiting Hours.

I tried to revisit BEAST WITHIN via the old MGM DVD to gauge my enthusiasm for the upcoming BD and couldn't watch more than 20 minutes of it. But not because the film sucked as I was starting to get into it but because of the bad PQ. And it was hard as heck to hear anything they were saying because of the crappy audio. To worsen the experience, there were only Spanish and French subtitles. Now I'm really looking forward to the Blu-ray.

There are movies I love but just can not watch because of the horrible conditions of most in print DVD's available.

a few would be:

Curtains ()
Satanic Rites of Dracula (very underrated)
The Last Slumberparty (amazing obscure slasher)
Prom Night (the Echo Bridge DVD improved on it's prior releases a lot)

and a large majority of public domain titles.

I have a funny MGM Related story about the movie Troll.
Which I think Scream Factory should certainly release btw...

Troll,
Troll 2, and Troll 3: Contamination .7
would be welcomed releases, just saying.
maybe one day...

[Show spoiler]So, by the oddest of coincidences, I ended up watching Troll last night, then Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. I already knew that a lot of fans say Rowling copied Troll, but I never though much more than it being a coincidence.

But there are multiple scenes throughout the entire franchise that mimics a scene written by Rowling, which in turn was a scene in the movie Troll. Like, for instance, In Troll, when Harry opens the door and magic English talking tree stump screams "Shut the Damn Door", the same thing happens in Prisoner of Azkaban when Harry, Ron, and Hermione open a door in Hogsmead and a shrunken head screams, almost in the same shrill voice, "Shut the Damn Door"!

I think Harry Potter in scope is a buhzillion times better than Troll, although I do love all three of the films, but I do think she may have seen it once, although I don't know why, and some things may have stuck with her... Alls Im sayzin. lol.

Troll 2 has a blu ray already from Fox. A special edition, I recall.

It was announced back in March. Not much in the way of details since, if I recall.

It does, though it's special edition-ness is debatable, and possibly in name only (The 20th Anniversary Nilbog Edition). Extras-wise, it only features a HD theatrical trailer, on the other hand, it's Troll 2. Being on Blu-Ray in the first place probably counts towards being a special edition.

  • The transfers are derived from SD masters that were upconverted to 1080i. (Per Cliff, no HD masters exist nor are HD masters likely to be created.)
  • Howling III: The Marsupials is presented in a Pan and Scan 1.33:1 AR, cropped from it's 1.85:1 OAR. (The OOP Elite DVD from 2001 has a widescreen presentation.) The other two films are also 1.33:1 AR, but that is their OAR.
  • The filesize for the three films is reportedly less than 7 GB each.
That's too bad. I have the Timeless Media disc and it was such a disappointment.

I genuinely like HOWLINGs 2-6 and I would like to see them get decent releases.

The Last Slumber Party from 88'?

Well I think we know where the writers of this film stand on gay marriage anyway!

Movies Scream has turned down for Blu due to low DVD sales: The Howling 2, Count Yorga series, The Evil, TV movies, Prom Night 2 (Before Echo Bridge got the rights), Asian horror titles, ect.

Then again, he said the same thing about X-Ray and it is hitting Blu so who knows!

You are right. Either way, don't they usually release double feature discs if the movie isn't selling enough on its own?

And yeah sorry, I'm not complaining. I have every release by Scream so far, most of the Shout Bluray releases as well, as well as every announced title pre-ordered. Just surprised, that's all. This will at least finally get me to watch these, although I haven't heard too much praise about either.

I hope to see Village of the Damned (Not that bad, and it's Carpenter!), Serpent and the Rainbow (Much better then SHocker and People Under the Stairs IMO) and The Sentinel announced soon! It's too bad Warner owns In the Mouth of Madness as I don't see them releasing that any time soon to Bluray.

I love the Howling 2 and have mentioned it several times in this thread. One of the best so bad it's good films, up there with Troll 2, Pieces, and Burial Ground. It's just so insane and fun, I don't know how anyone could not find some enjoyment from it. Hopefully Cliff reconsiders, as it is a film I have been seeing a lot more appreciation for lately.

I agree i have an old issue of fangoria where they visit the set and it has interviews and stuff and the movie sounded really good. Then when i finally got the dvd i thought it was pretty boring and lacking.
