The upcoming Howling blu is making me crave Howling sequels. I don't hate The Howling 2, its actually the contrary. I like it.

I like the first 6 quite a bit. Actually, 4 is pretty dicey but it's saved by some surprisingly awesome FX in the last twenty, and a kickass Justin Hayward (Moody Blues) song.

So I won't be doing the shooting.

I have never seen The Howling 2 or any of the sequels for that matter but after many of you claiming how bad it is that it is actually good fun I think I am going to have to check it out.

Concerning Howling II, good! I can see why he turned it down. It sucked, you like it fine but there are better Horror films out there waiting for the Shout treatment but even some of them didn't do well on DVD either.

You will not be disappointed!

I posted this months ago in this thread but with all the love Howling 2: Your Sister is a Werewolf, aka. Howling II: Stirba - Werewolf B!tch has been getting, it's worth a repost. Unfortunately the pictures were no longer showing up so this will have to make due.

It's only a matter of time before people realize how awesomely bad this film and it becomes a cult classic, is and then MGM will want to keep it for itself like it did with Troll 2.

Just some of the insanity you will see in this film:

- Christopher Lee wearing new age sunglasses.

- Sybil Danning walking around the whole movie in dominatrix outfits and aviator glasses. That is when she isn't baring her breasts, including one scene that is repeated 17 times throughout the closing credits.

- Werewolf orgies.

- Silver only puts werewolves in a coma, but for some odd reason various vampire mythos hurt them such as garlic, holy water and stakes to the heart (Made from Titanium as for some odd reason that is the only thing that kills werewolves in this film).

- Frantic bad editing, including lots of comic book wipes.

- Newwave music with lots of werewolf related lyrics.

- Little people in disguises attacking people.

- Plenty of cheesy effects and decent gore.

Yes folks, this one is a keeper, which is a real shame that it's being ignored by Scream. It may not be the best horror title I own, far from it actually, but it is definitely one of the most fun!

And here's a great review that says it all.

Again, I can see why. Who wants to be reminded there was a sequel besides its fans?

How about the Michael J. Fox classic Teen Wolf? I think MGM has the rights.

Btw, Howling 2 was awful. Sorry guys

Accent on "Insane"--Watching ANY Philippe Mora (Beast included, and even up to his "A picture" attempt in Communion) is like the trippy fever-dream feel similar to what you get when you watch an early Paul Verhoeven, namely that someone smuggled a camera into the insane asylum.
In H2, the fact half the actors don't act, the other half can't speak English, and the name actors are bravely doing their best gives it that extra foreign-curiosity quality that the dopey Australian Fosters-belch Oz-ploitation humor of Howling III didn't have.

Hopefully Cliff reconsiders, as it is a film I have been seeing a lot more appreciation for lately.
After all, this IS the studio that united a lost audience and finally redeemed the once-blackened name of Halloween III.
They shouldn't be getting into the business of elitism all of a sudden.

I don't know about anyone else but the only movies I want to laugh at are comedies. If I buy a horror movie, unless it's Army of Darkness or Dead Alive, I don't want to laugh, I want to be horrified. I'm not knocking anybody who truly enjoys stuff like Howling II, it's just that, personally, the last thing I want to do when I watch a horror flick is get together with a bunch of people, drink beer and laugh hysterically.

Just because a movie "sucks" (I call it comedic genius) doesn't mean it should not be available on a format.
There are plenty of fans, as you can see. So, its not just me, or jeepersitsthecreeper, or anyone else's answer that is definitive.

Not everyone likes Day of the Dead, for instance, but it is still being release. Not everyone likes ANY FILM, but they still get released.

I did not like Avatar, but I would never say "Oh, Avatar sucks. They shouldn't bother putting it out ever again".

I think it's a bit odd to just write it off because it "sucks". There's definitely an audience for it, and even if it doesn't work as a standalone release, releasing it as a Double Feature with The Howling III: The Marsupials would likely get more people to give it a try. It's a fun, cheesy movie with some decent gore, and there's definitely an audience for that, I think.

(As repeatedly noted, H3 already came out in the $1.98 trilogy edition with 4 and 6, and nowhere near the love it got from the Elite DVD.
H2 seems to be the last, and "best" remaining unclaimed Howling sequel not picked up by another C-company, so c'mon, what would it hurt? At least you've got the "classiest" rotten apple in the barrel!)

Actually, the erm, second title was only a quick B-theater video-nasty retitling. It was "Howling II: the New Wave" (with lots of shots of cool 80's sunglasses and the punk club) for the brief amount of time it was in the US, but Thorn/EMI was a UK company and just imported the UK video sources.

Thought the one sex scene with Elisabeth Brooks in the original was silly, albeit an odd turn-on?
Let's upgrade both to some nice closeups of Sybil Danning nude in fake full-body fur and plastic fangs...

Mora, ten years later on the H3 commentary, said that looking at his films now, he couldn't remember what was going through his head directing them.
Watch H2, and you will see what he meant.

Name one horror movie that is absent of comedy in every way, even unintentional.

To have a scary movie, you need comedy. They go hand in hand. In real life there's comedy and horror, so they naturally fit together in a fictitious 'movie' setting.

Every single Scream Factory release has some type of comedic value.
And a good portion are flat out Comedy-Horror films.
Like Night of the Comet, Cockneys Vs Zombies, Terrorvision, The Video Dead, The Nest, etc.

Depends on the audience. There's two, ones who like it and the others who'd want to see it after watching Spoony's review to laugh at it. Not in a so bad, it's good kind of way.

At any rate, it just goes to show the different tastes we have...
I think Howling 2 is a sh*t pickle, but I have films that in my collection that some people would LOL or wonder why ...I think we all have something schlocky ..
I have Monstroid aka Monster and would love Scream Factory to release it
I also have Creature from Black Lake...which is terrible but I like it anyway
The Snow Creature , The Monster from Green Hell and the Beast of Yucca Flats are also part of my guilty pleasures
Trashy films, but I love em anyway

I never understood the whole "So bad, it's good" thing. If you like it, like it. I mean come on, don't even try to hide it.

You know, the video store I work at will have promotions where a certain movie will be available on DVD for $5 or so when you add it onto a purchase. I remember quite a few years ago, close to Halloween, The Howling II was the title being used for that promotion. I don't believe we moved many copies.

And speaking of Spoony's review...

Very true. I'll be the first one to admit that I love The Room, Troll 2, Skyline, etc. But I'm not going to call them good movies by any means...

I mean come on, Gene Siskel admitted he liked Carnosaur without some flimsy excuse as I recall.
