I'd actually prefer having the original artwork on the slipcover of all of Scream's releases since I think they look better than the new artwork, except for They Live as the new artwork is amazing.

I always use the original art anyway, but I've never heard of a licensing studio demanding a specific cover art.

Yeah it's kind of weird. Why would a studio care so much about cover art? Anyway I'm fine with it since I started switching over to the original art. I think it works out well having the new art as a slipcover.

Disappointing, but as this point I'm not complaining when it comes to Scream and covers. We're spoiled

A guess: Universal considers Psycho to be such an iconic franchise that they don't want the 'branding' to be altered in a manner that they are not in full control of.

It appears to be Region B-locked.
I ordered one from Diabolik, and it played fine on my PS3...looks very good

That makes sense.

I know Cliff said no to Phantasm. Why was that?

Kinda what I was thinking too, maybe it's their way of saying "these are ours"

Makes sense. I mean, have you seen the covers to the original film and the sequels?

Never fear, I can always have my 5 years old whip up an alternative cover to Psycho 2/3 with a few crayons. Anyone else want one?*

* - By this I mean, I never really understood the draw of alternative newly comissioned covers anyway... it's rather more bonus content on the disc, not it's cover. Still kudos to Scream Factory for the choice of art, I'll admit it has grown on me and is "kind of" fun.

Ooh, I love Lucas. It has possibly the best slow clap scene in movie history.

Do you think they might get Tom Holland for an interview or a commentary?

What a shame. I always like and keep out the new art. I do admit, however, that it would be kind of difficult to do.

but he said Boogeyman / Boogeyman 2, so he couldn't have been talking about 2 and 3 anyway... regardless of which franchise he was referring to.

I like the new art, I use the new art for a slip, reversing the inside to get the best of both worlds. They both are great imo.

I'm cool with it this time, but I REALLY HOPE THIS DOESN'T HAPPEN AGAIN, because I like a series of movies (the CE Screams) to be consistent. But I forgive you

but why wouldn't they just let you put it on the back of the cover, no one would see it except the people who purchase it... so?? Universal needs to lighten up...

I agree about the branding.
Bates Motel is a hit, renewed for a second season, talks of a new Psycho film are in the works, and I can see why they wouldn't want a new cover to be made.

I would be pissed if I just paid hundreds of thousands of dollars on a big studio deal, and they then decided to tell me I won't be able to use the packaging choice I marketed my entire brand as on some of them!... :/

Ahh, you're correct. Well Sony does have Boogeyman (2005) as well.
