I'm not an idiot. I was just commenting that a company may have the same type of deals and shipping cost as their counterpart in another country. That being BB Canada and BB US.

No one said you were. I've always found it strange that BBY won't ship outside of their respective country even though it's the same company. Now in terms of SF titles, Amazon is the same as BBY.

Best Buy Canada is not Best Buy US. We have a hard time getting retailers to sell anything but the latest blockbusters up here. If you're a film buff like most of us on blu-ray.com are, then you pretty much have to do the majority of your shopping online and across the US border. Best Buy Canada doesn't have a listing for Swamp Thing. Heck, Terror Train doesn't even have a picture, and they list 1 in stock for the entire country....

Best Buy US has the same problem in regards to pictures on their products. They often list DVDs as BDs and vice versa. They also do not take in a vast majority of cult titles in-store.

I mean Best Buy's online sites, for whichever country you live in, in North America.

[Show spoiler]but I don't want to completely trash them as they are cheaper in many cases, they price match to brick and mortar stores, price match to Amazon, and they also offer Canadian blu's for cheap on their site for American consumers. Like The Hitcher and Black Christmas remakes, which are not available in America.

I know someone has already importcds don't send them anymore, but I'm still going to try tonight, and if that doesn't work, I'll just have to pay inflated price on eBay.

This is really frustrating. We get shit all catalog and horror releases in Australia, which is why I import everything. And this isn't going to stop me either, because if I really want a title, like The Burning, The Fog and Town That Dreaded Sundown, I will find a way.

Agreed.

I thought I might post the email from Shout again. The problem is from their end not Ammy.

Hey sorry Donovan,

Our hands are tied.

We do not have international rights.

The rights belong to studios or other productions.

They decide on distribution rights. Most of our titles are North America only. (Region 1/A)

In this day and age piracy is a big deal. This is one of the few unfortunate ways to deal with the issue.

There is always the option of having a friend ship the title to you.

Regards,

Shout Factory

Let's stop complaining about the rules and start complaining about how asinine Universal is being about the Psycho art.

Does anybody still remember back about 5 or 6 years ago when some of us thought that Blu-ray would one day replace DVD as the home video format of choice?

I don't think I've ever seen a product so consistently shoot itself in the foot.

Here it is 2013 and the Blu-ray market is going nowhere. 24%...isn't that about where it was in 2010?

People who "sell" Blu-rays seem to be adding more hoops for us to jump through everyday. Twilight Time starts selling online only limited editions. Then Synapse starts selling online only limited editions. Now, I don't know what is going on with Scream but somehow amazon.com has decided (or did Scream decide for them) that even Canada doesn't qualify for Scream titles.

Man, this is getting complicated.

2013 and Blu-ray is at 24% market share?

In my best John McEnroe voice: You can NOT be serious!"

I'm sorry to hear our brothers from far away can't get Scream titles shipped to them. If I was in your shoes I too would be extremely saddened. Back in the day, I was dependent on EBay for my foreign titles to come my way. Its expensive and not always convenient. The way Scream Factory is on a roll, this can get damn pricey. During my EBay days, I literally had 2 jobs with one of them supporting my movie habits.

As for the Psycho covers dilemma, I'm not bothered by it by the least. The original theatrical poster art is what I always preferred anyway and the original posters are really nice looking in my opinion. Yes the consistency of the collector's editions is off but thats no reason to think its the end of the world. Many people are ritualistic when it comes to the fact that it must have a slip cover and no creases and so on but I guess I was brought up to appreciate what I have. Yes its my hard earned money and I want the most bang for my buck but I don't understand some peoples attitude of " Thats it! Stop the earth, I want off " , this is a travesty, no more Scream for me.

Find other ways if you can to buy them there is always a way not to mention Second Sight has similar titles and in some cases the same.
Frankly, if it's going to be near-to impossible to buy their discs, I don't particularly want them to stay in business. I'd rather their titles were sold by other companies. In one evening, I've gone from looking forward to hearing what they're releasing to dreading that they'll get hold of anything I actually want.

These are the discs I've bought (and received) from them already this year:

THE BURNING
CAPTAIN AMERICA (1990)
CRIMEWAVE
DIRTY MARY, CRAZY LARRY
THE DUELLISTS
FUTUREWORLD
RACE WITH THE DEVIL
THE SEVEN PERCENT SOLUTION
THE TOWN THAT DREADED SUNDOWN

Four of those were blind-buys. FUTUREWORLD I bought from them rather than importing the European release. Only THE DUELLISTS and RACE WITH THE DEVIL would I have jumped through the importation hoops for.

I've pre-ordered another three which I may not get now due to the new rules. Furthermore, I had definitely planned to pre-order another ten of their announced titles (including two box sets) and five more were strong possibilities. Of that fifteen, I'll now be buying maybe five, if I can find a way to do so and I'll probably have to pay an extra third for each of them. I'm sure I'm not alone in this.

So no - right now, I'm not feeling a lot of love for them. Selfish perhaps but then I don't see much support coming from North American customers, who - as usual - are sitting pretty and would rather discuss slipcovers.

It's asinine but maybe Universal has a grander reason at least we can believe so. Here's the theatrical poster art neither of which Universal used for their releases.

If Universal doesn't want Shout/Scream to do new artwork whatever, no big deal.

I don't know the details behind the new shipping fiasco but it won't be impossible for anyone to get their hands on the titles they want. Just buy from somewhere like Diabolik.

I know, right? It's frustrating and so damn annoying. Besides, it has nothing to do with Shout.

Here's my experience with Scream/Shout Factory customer service: they're releasing great blu-rays of some of my favorite horror movies, and I'm afraid that without Scream Factory I might not get all or most of these movies on blu. I think that's pretty cool.

I'm sorry...actually I'm not... but thats a crappy attitude. Do you think anyone else was or is going to step up to the plate and release these type of titles like they have? Answer NO Would you rather have something like Twilight that releases limited editions that are way over priced? Answer No ..talk about band wagon fans...gheez makes me sick. Yeah it stinks and I feel for you but it's not Shout's fault..they had a deal and you were lucky to get what you got to begin with. Blame the studios and how they release rights if you want to yell at the world but lay off the good guys.

So much anger in this thread. It's depressing.

Anyway, I plan to watch my copy of Lifeforce tomorrow. Trailer looks great. Hope to get around to watching Deadly Blessing too.

Answer: Yes.

Because at least Twilight Time will ship to these poor guys overseas. Yeah, it will cost them but they can buy the discs.

If Scream won't ship out of North America...and amazon won't ship out of North America...and ImportCds or whoever else won't ship out of North America, then a lot of these guys are just cut-off from Scream titles. Not every body in the world has a "friend" in the States who will buy discs for them and ship overseas.

Look, I get it. Americans are unhappy that the "rest of us" are complaining. You guys have access to all the Scream discs you want from multiple sources and you have no interest in what happens outside your borders. Believe me, we understand that. You're not interested in whiney foreigners.

Unfortunately, you can't close the internet at your borders so you'll have to just tolerate us.
