I'll admit I freaked out initially about this whole Scream/Amazon no shipping outside the US. I even wrote out a long and angry message about it but ended up quickly deleting it because I read that it was just an error on amazon's behalf that should be cleared up in a couple days. If that's the case, awesome. No need to complain. If it doesn't get cleared up and as it turns out Shout were behind some kind of request to make it happen... then wow...

I think it's already been pointed out pretty perfectly already but the reasons why they became so popular so quickly is because they're doing excellent work on beloved cult classics, installments to beloved franchises, beloved stand-alone movies from beloved directors. They're doing great work on movies that are adored by people in the entire world. The ENTIRE world. Not just America.

I think it's fair to say that a lot of the money they're making is from people from all over the world. Staying active in the forums and such also helped make foreigners so keen and aware of their awesome presence in the blu-ray world. They brought in the crowds and if they're the ones behind this, they're the ones throwing acid in their fans faces and excluding them. Massive slap in the face.

I'm sure they're not behind anything and it is just some bizarre mistake that'll be cleared up. Surely Shout! knows that if they exclude their foreign fans, their business will be pretty badly damaged. That'd be a really silly move considering how ridiculously strong this year is turning out to be for them. If they continue what they're doing, they could become the titans of horror on home media. They've just got to keep respecting the fans like they have been.

I alone will probably be spending like $200 on Scream titles alone this year.

Hopefully this gets sorted out soon. I think we're all worrying too much too quickly. cmac already said it's an error on amazon's behalf and should be sorted out soon. Let's not panic until theres any kind of announcement that they hate foreigners and want them to cry themselves to sleep :P

For anyone overseas wanting Scream titles ,before Amazon gets this debacle straightened out, try ImportCDs. I didn't notice a message on their site about not shipping Scream/Shout titles out of the US. I think this might work for you until Amazon resolves the shipping issue.

In one evening, I've gone from looking forward to hearing what they're releasing to dreading that they'll get hold of anything I actually want.

These are the discs I've bought (and received) from them already this year:

THE BURNING
CAPTAIN AMERICA (1990)
CRIMEWAVE
DIRTY MARY, CRAZY LARRY
THE DUELLISTS
FUTUREWORLD
RACE WITH THE DEVIL
THE SEVEN PERCENT SOLUTION
THE TOWN THAT DREADED SUNDOWN

Four of those were blind-buys. FUTUREWORLD I bought from them rather than importing the European release. Only THE DUELLISTS and RACE WITH THE DEVIL would I have jumped through the importation hoops for.

I've pre-ordered another three which I may not get now due to the new rules. Furthermore, I had definitely planned to pre-order another ten of their announced titles (including two box sets) and five more were strong possibilities. Of that fifteen, I'll now be buying maybe five, if I can find a way to do so and I'll probably have to pay an extra third for each of them. I'm sure I'm not alone in this.

So no - right now, I'm not feeling a lot of love for them. Selfish perhaps but then I don't see much support coming from North American customers, who - as usual - are sitting pretty and would rather discuss slipcovers.

what do you want north american customers to do? boycott? hold your hand in support? it really sucks that they are doing this and i hope that they change their minds. i would be pretty upset if i were no longer able to get these titles for something as stupid as this. but what do you expect from us? stop being mad at other customers just because they can still order product. focus your energy on shout factory.

No-one was blaming North Americans but it was a bit much that some stated they wanted the disscusion to stop because it did'nt affect them. That was a really poor attitude to take, thankfully they wer'nt the majority.
If Arrow or other international companies decided to stop shipping overseas i would feel some empathy with those affected-never would i in a million years want posters to cease talking about it as i could'nt be bothered reading their posts.

The thing is there were also members outside North America acting like a lynch mob...hence my Mist reference.lol. Isn't the world messed up enough without people going balistic before they even get the facts....I think there was little hand holding of non-North Americans simply because there were no real facts either way yet just here say. The shoot first mentality has not served the world well and it shouldn't be apart of this board either. Let's just get on with talking about good stuff...like Cliff saying though we didn't get Nightmares right now it's on my radar for next year

It's one of the better anthology movies out there...personally I think it's better than Body Bags for it's variety of stories. The Benediction story would be nice to have as a companion piece to The Car.

I love the hallowed grounds features, it's by far my favorite feature. I wish every release had it. Enjoy The Howling! Love horror from that time period.

I think that The Howling is a contender for best theatrical key art ever. Anyone else in agreement? Any other greatest poster ideas?

I hope Amazon gives you more than the usual $5 gift certificate for their mistake. I doubt I was the only Amazon shopper who had an order partially or fully cancelled by their screw-up.

I hope this helps our friends in the U.K and Europe. They need some Shout Factory love.
I got all my Scream Factory's pre-orders cancelled too. And I can assure you that there were A LOT! (as I pre-order all their releases).
I was in shock and tried not to write anything in the thread because I was afraid I would only write stupid things that I would surely regret afterwards.
And it seems I was right not to, as it was a mistake made by Amazon themselves.
Now I'm so relieved.

I will have to pre-order everything again... I'll wait for several days 'though...

Again thanks to cmac, shout factory! and all the support from fellow members who live in the US and said nice things about us "outsiders".

HA! Cliff said that he/Jeff didn't even consider picking up Poltergeist III. I's probably because of all the sadness behind it, but I'd like to think that it was because they didn't like it that much. If so, I agree.

Just got The Howling and The Town that Dreaded Sundown in the mail today in the UK.

There's a mistake on the slipcover of The Howling as it says 'Includes Blu-ray & DVD discs' on the back. This however is not on the sleeve in the amaray case.

Is anyone else kind of surprised that Twilight Time is releasing Mindwarp, with Bruce Campbell and Angus Scrimm? It seems like sort of an odd choice to make a $80 blu ray out of. (When I say $80, I am being sarcastic.)

Re: the whole Amazon situation, I have actually noticed something similar a few times before.

It usually happens (to me) when some merchant whose orders are "fulfilled by Amazon" undercuts the price of Amazon itself. The merchant's copies are moved to the top as the default when you add a copy to your cart, and Amazon's own copies are moved down the list (you can find Amazon if you press for the list of new copies for sale). For some reason when this happens, Amazon's own listing defaults to domestic delivery only. So if the merchant with the cheapest copies does not ship internationally, you will get a message that the item cannot be shipped to your destination.

Last time I saw it was only a few weeks ago when some merchant on Amazon offered a few Criterions cheaper than Amazon itself (specifically The Game for $19.99). I could not order from them because I live in Denmark and the merchant did not ship internationally. But I could not order from Amazon (who were only a few cents more expensive) either, because now they all of a sudden also did not ship internationally.

As soon as the merchant's offer expired, Amazon's own listing went to the top and they offered international delivery again.

As I said, I have noticed this a few times before (also with books). It might be some strange company policy, but it might also just be a weird default setting in their homepage design.

What about the thousands of movies since dvd came along that R1 didn't get any bonus features and some were even full screen only. While every other regions got them. Especially most of John Carpenter's films R1 releases versus other regions. (With few exceptions.)

So how does that make sense that the US/Canadian films get released with bonus features elsewhere and not here. Films from the other regions don't get better editions in the US/Canada than in their own respective Countries that I have ever seen.

I'm glad we have a company like Shout/Scream that gives us bonuses that were never available to R1 before.

Really? I think you should check out some Criterion Blu's of, for example, some classic British films that have no/an inferior release here in the UK.

Happens more often than you'd think.

I will put up with a lot, but when I think of the drop in quality from Poltergiest to Poltergiest 3... I try to pretend it doesn't even exist
