Not many interesting movies from Universal. Only "Ghost Story" and "The Sentinel" for me. Still hoping for "Invaders From Mars" and "Frogs" from MGM.

Rumor has it they are distribution Jamie Lee Curtis' upcoming production that she will star in and do wide press for. She will portray a woman who receives psychic visions from God and is shunned and persecuted for them.

We do know they're going to release Dead Shadows soon though, unless their plan has changed.

I did not know that. Seems a shame since there appears to be a decent HD transfer. Maybe Universal will release it themselves then.

Yeah, but Joe Dante doesn't own or control the movie, so it doesn't really matter.

I meant that this release would actually have features (aside from the alternate ending). Commentary, perhaps a making-of... the works.

Dead Shadows is a completely different film that Shout/Scream Factory is supposed to be releasing sometime in the near future...

I'm glad I'm not the only one! Granted I was not alive when this was released (I'm 26) but I watched it for the first time this past weekend after hearing my Dad talk about it for years. HOLEY CRAP was it a great first viewing. I know there isn't much love for the sequels, but I'll be seeking them out shortly (at least parts 2 & 3 and the remake/reboot).

Seriously - avoid the 'sequels' like the plague, they are barely related to the first film and are entirely unwatchable.


Oscar, if you want the original NOTLD, buy the Happinet release. It's damn good and likely all you're going to get.

I like 2 but 3 is just (amazingly) horrible (Killer Were-Kangaroos), but they are all very unique and any horror completist should own them. I like everything, just in a different way.

Every one is on blu-ray except for 2 and 4.
They're all on DVD, except 7, which may have been through a bootlegger, I believe.

The 'reboot' is Howling: Reborn and it's an okay, newer sequel.

(Note: the other Howling's are not the best quality but there's a 3 pack with 3 / 5/ 6 that is about 8 bucks online)

It's heavily geared towards the tweener, Twilight crowd, with some pretty lame FX, but at least it has a cohesive, if unremarkable, plot and is professionally and competently made, unlike the other sequels.
